This was the first game I had for my Gameboy besides tennis and tetris... I cannot believe I've never seen it in color before now!

I wish there was a return to Sarassaland. It was such a nice change of pace from the Mushroom Kingdom, with new enemies and stuff.

This game is already legendary. Color makes it 100 time better.

This was my first “classic” Mario experience. I mean the original not the hack. Love the work done here looks great

...I absolutely adore how this looks. Sprite is a little jittery but everything else oozes charm

It's such a shame they've never remade this or any other GB Mario/Wario title. A compilation would've been perfect on 3DS

Ooooh my word.. The music at the end always made me cry as a child. Still gets me. This looks amazing in color. I still have the hard copy. Now i wanna play it.

I appreciate how you fired your bullets to match the beat at the beginning of the final boss theme.

I played this game a lot as a kid. I had the original gameboy that was in black and green. Crazy to think how we can save game progress today. None of that back in 1989-1990.

My cousin and I both got Gameboys for Christmas in 1991. We played this, Kirby, and Tetris a lot. I had a Tiny Toons game as well. I have no idea how I wasn't deterred by the lack of being able to save progress.

It looks fantastic in colour.

Love this game! One of my fave gameboy games before... so many hours i played this and i could finish this without a single dead before... nice to see in colors.... still remembers those secrets...

This one is one of my top favorite games and seeing it in color is so great I love everything about this game including the music one of the best games ever.

@@BowBeforeJOW To be fair, Super Mario Land 1 and 2 are underrated and often overshadowed by their home console counterparts in the main series.

It’s so weird and cool seeing this game in color lol

I remember struggling so much with this game. It was super hard for 10 year old me. I cant recall if it was because the game itself was difficult to me or because the screen was so blurry on the OG gameboy. But a lot of the mechanics just didnt make sense to me, coming from Super Mario Bros. Like the fireball shooting straight up, some enemies requiring multiple hits, or the boss fights being able to be killed with your fireball. I would have never guessed the game was so short! I got so damned close but always died by 4-1. I only had this game on loan from a friend, but thank god I got Mario Land 2 for my birthday one year. Man that game was miles better and so damned good.

You were a terrible gamer, man lol. Me, my friends, we all had Super Mario Land, and finished it before we were 10, even. SML 2 is a good game, but it's too easy. Except for the final level, there is no challenge. And the game is a little bit too slow for my taste. Great graphics, though. I still prefer the original one.

11:21 I love the fact that with Star power you try to kill everything on sight. even the sea weed

I enjoyed this more for the fact you had every secret in your playthrough. I had fun guessing each time.

It's not a remake, just a patch and it brings some new artwork and of course colour to the original version. I've played it many times and it's just incredible and still takes me back to my childhood 😊

And we never see bomb shell koopas ever again

My only problem with it is that the superballs don't give him a monochrome palette as a reference to both the original game and how the powerup acted in Mario Maker

Mario's sprite is weird. lol I wish they kept it like the original, even with the SMB-esque look.

Kinda wish whoever modded this added Luigi as a playable character. Not only does that compliment Daisy, but his usual oddball mechanics might be an interesting surprise.

They should have done this to game boy color back in 1999-2000, adding a multiplayer mode and also new stages and enemies. maybe a "sequal" of it with more worlds.

Mario Land 2 was a thing but at least we can use GBA to run GB games

Agreed. The new sprite work is bad, mainly because the original sprite work was great and didn't need to be updated, though true color is nice.

Those were the good ol days I remember my childhood sweetheart bringing this into school and everyone wanted a go of it. I wanted to steal it lol but she allowed me to play for 30 mine during lunch time and finished the whole game.

I played this game a lot as a kid on original Gameboy. This is the first time I've seen the game in color. What happened in this video at the 9:27 mark? It looks like Mario is hanging on a ledge somehow instead of falling down towards the water.

There's an invisible platform there. If Mario had been small, he could have walked along it to get to the stuff on the bottom

I don't really think I like seeing CHANGES on something like this, just colors, but that Mario sprite sure is an improvement.

This music is 😍😁 when I first finished the game and suddenly this music started, I felt like I achieved everything in the world 31:42 😊

This game was incredible for what it was. Had NOTHING to do with Bowsers minions or anything. All random enemies and bosses that had also zero relativity to the games universe, besides Daisy. Looks amazing in colour, too.

Cool stuff, although Mario should get a color-change when he snags the flower.

I'm glad that like me you pretty much know where all the secrets are although I noticed you missed one of the pipes in 3-1, 3-2, and 3-3. Unless a misremembering what I just saw but then again I'm kind of multitasking here. Oddly enough I imagine so many of the enemies to be an orange because when I grew up playing this game in the '90s sure the first time I played it was on the original Game boy, but I played a whole lot more on the super Game boy and the default colors caused a lot of the enemies to be an orange although at least Mario had his red overalls on the default color scheme. I've also noticed that a lot of the enemies are just colorized and don't really look like they have improved much. There are exceptions of course. Not just how much better Mario and Daisy look, but those weird jumping guys in 4-1 looks so much better on this. Honestly in the original Super Mario Land they looked incredibly stupid
