I believe the slowdown is due to a difference in region: The game might be running at PAL rather than NTSC, which results in slower music synthesis.

Honestly wasn't expecting this tune to make a return in Mario wonder but its a wonderful surprise!

I remember playing this as a kid, I would literally sit for hours next to any of the Metal Cap Boxes and put it on every time one ran out. Everyone else I knew hated me because they prefered the wings cap....but Metal Mario was the best.

There is no instance in Super Mario 64 where you can aquire a metal cap and wing cap in the same level, without modding. Although it could've been planned at one point, since a metal wing texture exists.
