If anyone needs an explanation of this crash, I can sum it up with the fact that the monkey steals hats, but will not be able to do so underwear, and when Yoshi loses a hat, he turns back to normal, but as you can see, it's a hatless Wario instead. Yoshi is supposed to obtain a specific power up from the box, Wario the metal form power up. In this instance, the game is way too confused and crashed

I like how aside from the crash handler this shows realistic debug testing. Grabbing the monkey with metal cap and letting it run out underwater is the kind of edge cases that need to be checked

I imagine there are actually different variants depending on the character. Like Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi.

That’s part of 64DS’s main mechanic. There are character caps dotted throughout each stage that transform you into the cap’s corresponding character when you pick it up (Mario’s cap turns you into Mario, Luigi’s cap turns you into Luigi, and Wario’s cap turns you into Wario). These are mainly for Yoshi, but the Mario Bros. can use the different caps too.

If i saw this while playing i would have fricking died.

1:10 he ground pounded it so hard it killed the game

This crash handler makes sense to use well if it wasn’t creepy that is, you see yoshi is supposed to be his normal self however with the glitch you did it stuck as wario and when you broke the box open the game should’ve checked to see which character you are plus/minus any wearable hats and what power up to give, however with that glitch in affect the game should have a hard time and would have to use a lot of memory to find out what’s going on, once the game cannot find a way to fix this it crashes causing the developer crash handler to appear.

the reason this genuinely crashes the game is because yoshi had wario hat on. When the hat is knocked off in-game, you're supposed to turn back to normal. Say wario grabs a luigi hat and turns into luigi, he gets knocked over then he loses the hat and turns into wario again. But the specific way yoshi lost his hat with the monkey and also the metal power makes it so no form of damage and change will happen to you. So when the hat came off with the metal power up still on, the game kinda got confused but it was okay for a sec. Yoshi gets back up the hill and the game thinks that you're now playing as yoshi but technically you've completely changed characters to wario. So when the power up has to come out the box the game doesn't know what it should give the player and the game will lock up. Something interesting is if you somehow aren't quick enough the game eventually decides that your character is fully either your original character or the one you changed into. And if you wait in that level for a while. the game won't crash and will give you normal stuff. But if you leave the level you go back to the normal character.

Yeah it looks nothing like this but this is a legit way you crash the game. I've always looked on sm64 ds for ways to crash and I've only found around 6

So you want to do something different but with the same vibes... Let me tell you that you did a good job with this one too

I tested it on Mupen64(mupen64 its a mobile nintendo 64 emulator) and my game crashed.

there already was an exception handler for rev 0 usa versions but because 2021 people parody it. Not hating tho just telling there was an actual exception handler in old versions of the game

Not necessarily. I personally go hunting in mario 64 and pulling the cartridge out either says "game card was either not detected or missing. Please press the Home menu icon to return to the home screen" either that or sometimes it sometimes says "error! SD card information could not be written. Power off the system and power it back on" but I've only found around 6 crashes
