Super Exclusive Pinarello Dogma F Rim Brakes: I had the pleasure to try and film my dream bike!

A friend ‪@sigmasports‬ was so incredibly kind to let me ride this unbelievable race machine. The Pinarello Dogma F is the latest version of a bike that collected multiple Grand Tour wins over the years and reached an iconic status like no other bike.
In this rim brakes version is even more exclusive, representing the purest form of a race bicycle. In this video you can see me pretending to be a bike reviewer, trying to capture the essence of this work of art.
‪@princeoftheroad‬ created something that is at home on a Tour or Giro mountain stage and at the same time could feature at the MOMA or Tate museums.

    Great video , good to see proper brake bike finally ! I built my Pina F 54 Pluto rim brake 2 months back . We're sitting at a scant 5.68 kg ( ready to ride with pedals , cages and mount ) with THM Cranks , Lightwork carbon chain ring , Cane Creek Brakes , 1 x setup , dura ace di2 11 spd , Cadence Tubs , Selle C-59 saddle , few Ti bolts , Tune cages . Perhaps one of the craziest builds yet . PS - got the same Castelli kit

    Great review thanks Fede - always appreciate your very cultured insights. I was fortunate to have the opportunity recently to chose between a Dogma and a S-works Tarmac SL7 but couldn’t bring myself to go for it… it just felt wrong (or at least a bit ridiculous) for an amateur cyclist of my limited ability to ride such a bike. My compromise was a lesser SL7 with some upgrades to bring it close to top level but much cheaper and less conspicuous. It’s a fantastic bike and I suspect could run close to the Dogma! But a bit like when I owned a Porsche a few years ago, I would have felt a bit of a nob with the top of the range…

    @@fede1275 yup, definitely possible! On second Bottechia bike 8Avio which is currently on the trainer I have full hydraulic tiagra (2020) groupset with tiagra shifters and brakes. They actually have even more stopping power (probably due to higher end shimano discs which were part of the factory spec of the bike) and flipping over the bars is very easy when the brake is grabbed with force in a emergency stop situation. This is scary. But, they're great when you have to shave off lots of speed quickly while descending. I switched to discs because one time on the descend a car stopped in front of me and my ultegra rim brakes with koolstop pads were not able to stop me in time. I needed to land in a ditch, luckily a bunch of leaves cushioned the impact. But it seems that hydraulic pizza cutters can be an "overachieving" solution in many circumstances because I never experienced such easy front wheel lock-ups in a wet before.

  • @fede1275

    @fede1275

    Жыл бұрын

    It’s not easy to answer and in reality it depends on the intended use of the bike. The Dogma is an all out racing machine and its justification is based on the assumption that she can let you finish ahead of your competitors. In that context even that absurd price can be balanced by the need to win. At that level the margins are small, but a win by a small margin is still a win. For a leisurely use then my Ultimate is entertaining and exciting and is all I really need, but I’m not racing and my priorities might be different.

    Federico Glad you got your ride on your bike! As I said before, if I pay silly prices, I expect "Italian-made" ,not "Italian-Design!" It must also have top-end Campagnolo kit on it, and not that awful, bland, ugly Shima(NO) on it! As for the MET Trenta helmet. I had a Liquigas MET helmet which was awesome quality like a KASK, back in 2007/8, but when I got a recent Trenta carbon, I immediately noticed cheaper quality, with a "Made in China" label, so sent it back. and complained to them, but they don't care, or respond!!! There are nice Italian companies, and unhelpful, nasty companies! I tried to buy some Santini Mercatone Uno shorts in 4XL from eBay, from France, but seller refused to sell to me, because Brexit mean's customs, delivery, and VAT are expensive!!! Yet, I am the person paying the extra costs!!!
