Super EuroFighter 2000 QuickCombat Mission 1
Ойындар
Video tribute to SEF2000 one of the best (if not the best) sim game. The shown mission is from Quick Combat mode. Even though the game's 13-teen years old (ages in terms of computer games development) I still love to sit down and spend some time with it.

Recently I've posted a video of a sortie in Tiny Combat Arena (kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJ2c2q5wh73PY8o.html) and I have to say, it has a lot of the great things EF2000 had, which made it so fun to play. I really recommend giving TCA a shot (even though it's still in the early development stage).
These wonderful times when computer sims and other games still came with printed manuals that were a few hunded pages long.
i'm pilot and eurofighter 2000 is my inspiration! I played eurofighter when i was only 6 years to 16 years old but my computer not support the simulator! thanks szift, thanks for making me remember everything I played! I hope someday to make a new simulator so good as the Eurofighter 2000!!
A brilliant game. It felt more 'real' than newer, more graphically superior games.

Steve Franklin I agree. It was something dark and respectful about that game. Actually felt like you were flying a plane, that it mattered. I remember being scared of missiles and that voice "You are entering neutral airspace" or something.

the rolling is not real! if a plane did that in real life youd be a mess on the walls LOL
TFX, EF2000, F-22 ADF. The holy trinity of flight sims! DID always managed to nail the perfect mix of simulation and action. Miss those days!
I played it on 133 mhz processor with 16 mb ram and 1mb gpu, such memories. That game was a great simulation back then.

My 66MHz 486 had 16MB already :) Ran SEF2k later on a 133 Pentium as well, that one had 32MB. Any faster than that results in the sim running to fast actually which is quite a pity and can be seen in this video as well. Hats off to that performance! Never was any close to being that good back then. The dynamic campaign is still the best today...
my god, this mission and doing the same thing, firing and landing to reload...good memories from 2002-2003
LOL my mother used to think i was watching porn when i was pulling some Gs. lol

The best until today. The music, the climax and the mood...this sim with graphics of today it would be a winner!!!
Wow great! You are the man. Great playing. I remember this game. My gosh, waves of nostalgia))
Brings back memories. Also love the callsigns of the russians "Vodka01", "Vodka02"... fits great :D
I remember that sim.It was the best in my opinion and the strategy of the game was awesome, The mission plannig and stuff. Someone should revive this game. Imagine that Sim with arma 3 graphics.
Thanks for sharing this! Used to love this game! Planning missions with refuelling was just amazing. Had many hours dogfighting with my brother and certainly learned a few manoeuvres! Have played other flight sims since but this was the best!
J'ai passé beaucoup de temps avec ce jeu. Fantastique. De très bon moments.
Wow - I didnt realize for 30 years that landing mid missions gives you instant loadout backfill.

Yeah, it also works like that in the campaign mode. But it doesn't repair the plane if you take any damage.
thumbs up to DID and all forgotten great dev teams of the 90's
ah ! my favorite flight combat simulator, not too complex but fun. EF2000 reloaded in 3DFX G+ works very well on my win 8.1 computer ! amazing
At last someone who's competent at this sim. Not sure about killing the engines for that 180 at the start though, enemy's in (R) range! But good work.
unlike modern day games.. this classic games teaches the basic command and leadership in air force. I love this games. What makes it best in classic games is its the games-education age
The only weakness with the game is that the creators never studied a map over Northern Scandinavia to get locations of airfields, town, etc in the right place.
@kempet well to be honest, I'm currently researching this issue. My current goal is to release an iso of the game together with some such solution to allow the game to be playable on modern computers. I'm even considering binary patching the original executable, but this may prove to be quite a difficult task. I'll keep you informed.

Any progress? :)
Awesome gameplay!
This game is still miles ahead of games like Hawxs or Ace Combat. Sims like Lock On have better graphics and physics, but their focus on realism also took all fun to be had away. Lock On never felt like there was a war going on like in EF2000. Also for a buggy game like EF2000 was it still played smooth as silk.
I used to play this game... Love it!!!
I still remeber this game... IT was the best.....
I always enjoyed the missile cam. The radio comms sounds like Asian despite being set between in Europe.
best ever dynamic campaign in a game ever
Used to play this game sooo much :)
main thing in this game that made is fun was fully dynamic campaign. Battle was everywhere, everything affect something; you destroyed factory - enemy planes output did drop, you destroyed oil tanks - enemy had fuel shortage, you destroyed tank column - their advantage on the sector stopped. Even protecting AWACS, while boring, gave your AI friends opportunity to wreak havoc and have edge over enemy.
Mannn very nice i remember every hour that i play this game years ago.... very good Thanks!!
Old airsims have their charm i still play even F-19
É incrivel como eu ainda lembro de cada som
I have original boxed copy of this game. Agree with Steve, it's more real than many modern sims.
Glad you like it :) About missle dodging, there are possible ways to do it. If you have the instruction manual that came with the game, there are a couple of examples in it. I usually either go low (if possible) or play with the afterburners and flairs/chaffs at close range. AFAIK if ECM jamming is enabled, the system automatically fires what is needed.
I love this game, nostalgic
@BitnikGr I hear you there ;) I didn't say I do it every day, but once in a while it's nice to get enough time to do a campaign. Also due to this I've been looking into the idea of finding a way to 'save game' *during* a flight in Super EF2000. In theory it should be possible, ie. on a virtual machine (just freeze the system, and unfreeze another time), but I didn't had a chance yet to try it out ;)
Excelent game forever! My old love..
I loved this game .... good times
The legitimate sequel to TFX. Never played it, sadly.... TFX was so awesome..... found it on my first pc which i got from my uncle. found out everything by trial and error.
I played this game for hours back in the day, used TFX CD for music.
Well played.
This was my first FS for the pentium back then. I still have the original stuff incluing the box it came in.
One of a kind experience... I love this game... beats all the combat sims...

Harley Okan What about dcs?
I wish i could buy or find this game again. Though it seems DID already closed. This game had the best weather simulation i have ever seen; if they could re-code the graphics for advanced hardware, this game would be perfect forever.
One of the very best sim of its era.👍
Oh man, great !
F-15 strike eagle II and Super EuroFighter 2000 are the best flight simulator ever!
I never knew how to play this game... I was young... maybe I shoud try it again now.

I remember it took me a lot of trial-and-error to learn the basic stuff. And then - a bit later - someone showed me the instruction manual :)
First Falcon 4.0. Second - this one. All because superb dynamic campaign. You destroy oil factory and enemy production drops, you destroy airfield and it is out of order some time, you destroy column of tanks and enemy progression is stopped. And so on. Even protecting fuel tanker does matter.
@BitnikGr "and then... I grew up" - I honestly never found that to be a problem when returning to my favourite games from time to time ;)
It reminds me F22 Total air war, especially the graph.

exelent sim
@BitnikGr, it was a long time ago (I recorded this about 3 years ago ;) but I believe I didn't wanna risk blowing the attempt, since the whole thing was recorder in a single flight and I did multiple attempts to get it right.
muito bom.... parabens
@Timx4, huh ;) I may agree with you, but imagine that back in 1998 when I first played the game, it was awesome and among other games at that time the graphics was something along the lines of how HalfLife 2: EP2 (with the Source engine upgraded) looks compared to other games today Another things is that with these types of games, it's nice to have a cool life-like graphics, but it's not what matters the most nor what brings in the fun :)
wow legendary game
The Best of the Best!!!
@Korwian, well last time I checked it on windows, it was the XP and it did run but required some CPU killer application. On the other hand it works flawlessly on Linux with the help of wine, see the url at the end of the video, there you'll find complete info on how to run the game using wine.
Just because in those times, making mindless consum-idiots wasn't an importance and the term simulator standed for using brain and ability.
@concujak, see the TFS (game) wikipedia entry: "Later, using an enhanced TFX engine, the game EF2000 was released." and SEF2000 i the windows version of EF2000 (I spent over 2 years playing the dos version until I got SEF2000 in my hands :)
dude can fly
i meant to write EF2000 reloaded (i dont know how my iphone wrote "relapsed" lol)
@BitnikGr, sure, but only on allied airfields :) It's quite easy, you land, come to a complete stop, turn off the engines and wait a couple of seconds. This way, if you pick the right mix of ammo, you can practically spend the whole 8 hour 'campaign window' flying and hitting stuff, like refuellers, tunnels, oil rigs/ships, EWRs, etc. ;)
That´s really cool! I played this game back in 1997 when I was 11 years ols. Brings me back lots of memories. So, Do you use a vm with CPU tweaks to run it on Windows XP?? I remember you had a website, what happened to it? Nice soundtrack by the way...
@LeeeHack
Жыл бұрын
Well last time I played it a long time ago (I guess over 10 years now). And when I tried recreating the VM-based setup some time later, it would always run too fast (and the website became grossly out-of-date, so I finally removed it). But presumably they did fix the speed issue with the EF2000 Reloaded mod they released some time ago (2013!) so when I find the time, I'll be sure to finally check that out as well.
@BitnikGr That's because you had to stay on the runway, it didn't work if you parked by a hangar, or anywhere off the runway. And as far as I remember, it was not in the manual ;) I found it by accident, while poking around, learning to land and take-off, and I'm sure it worked in at least two versions of the game (one of the dos versions and in the final Win95 version).
How can you see a tree in the sky ??! Fifty trees !? You're in a plane ! How could it be possible ? Ok ? FOTEE TREE DE GREASE ! Haha, what a fucking game, POULE EUP !
Also to all of you that were also looking for a way to make the game play at a normal rate on modern machines. I believe I finally found a good way, but I gotta do more tests and automate it a bit (I've been thinking of putting together a 'PlayOnLinux' installation script for this. I'll let you know as soon as it's done.
any news about how to run this game again in win7 64 bit with normal speed? i still dont understand how you play it on 64 bit (or this video is on older OS?)
@LeeeHack
10 жыл бұрын
Yes, as said somewhere below - I got it to run on Linux (on 64bit) by forcing wine to run on a single CPU and adding load to that CPU, so it doesn't run too fast. Still I don't have it as a simple solution, though I though about putting it into a script and making a POL (Play On Linux) installer package out of it. This would make it quite straightforward. As for the video, it was recorded on an old PC with WinXP, it was just uploaded a few years later.

Just download an MSDOS emulator, there are plenty of them around, just have to configure the sounds by telling it you have a soundblaster on port x, mount your installation drive (easy), and away you go. Most emulators allow you to set the emulated clock speed, so fiddling with that a bit will get you pretty authentic performance.

I have SEF2000 V2.0 so it works fine under Win XP but I did have this version before and got it to run in Win XP. You can also download and run it in DOSBox. Works great!
@Szift I've tried using CPU killers, but it did not work - is there any other workaround the speed problem?
what are the name of the soundtracks? please
The game designers obviously made some errors in the aircraft designations at the time. They seem to call the Tu-22M the T-26 here...
On what PC did you record this ? If anyone knows how to update it to usb joystick.
@LeeeHack
8 ай бұрын
Well I recorded this years ago on an old desktop running Windows XP. Also I didn't have a joystick back then, but last time I tried, an USB joystick worked just fine with the windows versions of the game (win95 ;). Not sure about the newer fan created remaster though.
Sorry, I'm not preparing a new version for Win7, rather looking for a simpler way to run the game (similar to running it side-by-side with cpugrab, but most possibly using some virtual machine for this, so it's cross-OS).
Is the music played from the game? If not would someone mind giving me the name?

DCS world?
does anyone know if V2.0 came in a big box?
To me, EF-2000 represents only a ton of great memories as I haven't been able to get back to it since 1995/96... Which now makes sense since it sounds like it's not easy. Surprised to hear they never released the source code, though. I dont think ADF/TAW's ever got out either... Did you ever get to play around with Eurofighter Typhoon? I've been pulling my hair out trying to find an easy way to get a copy... Im not sure there is one.
@LeeeHack
7 жыл бұрын
I managed to buy a copy a couple of years ago and played with it for some time, but even though the graphics is better, it's a completely different game. You don't get the same freedom to explore that EF-2000 had.
The background music is really from the game? I liked it. =)
dam nice! My first PC game, lots of memories. But u should buy joystick;]
I'm afraid I don't have the required skills. The source code of the game was never released (if it were, there would definitively be a new version by now) so the only way to do it is to reverse engineer the game (disassembly) - which takes a lot of assembly-level knowledge and even more: a lot of time (like at least months). I have none of these (though I have been considering teaching myself disassembly for the sole purpose of working on this game).
Is very similar to Joint Strike Fighter from EIDOS (Good sim too)
Great video! I guess that's SEF2000 running in Wine. Any idea whether the 3dfx DOS version works with DosBox on Linux?
@Xgame44 I have no idea what are you referring to as 'trees' but there are no trees in this video.
Como pueden hacer correr este juego en un windows 7??
One man army :)
I completely aggree... However I think EF-2000 was released 3 whole years before Falcon 4.0 I mean, that three years? A TON of advancement came through on PC gaming; on all fronts. So considering how EF-2000 was a predecessor; I mark this in my top 5 Sims; behind Falcon 4 and Longbow 2. And if DCS ever figures it out and implements a dynamic campaign, it will be my #1. Fat chance.
man... u r a pilot!
Is this soundtrack from game, or you put your own? Who is permormer -) Great video -)
actually, Strike Fighters 2 is an awesome sim that requires no manual or tedious start-up procedures.
Huh, sounds like trolling. I though that was precicely what most modern "combat sims" look like: "press one button to start, another to land, and move the controller around to pilot", or sometimes not even as much as that. They idea 'simulator' means it should make the experience as real as possible, including giving complete control of the aircraft, not just of it's basic elements. Imagine a racing car game where you only get to press 'accelerate'. That wouldn't be much fun, would it?
whats the difference between super and the regular EF2000? how many versions are there?
@DarrylBass
7 жыл бұрын
Argiris Papadopoulos there was just 2 versions. super came afterwards and it was the same game but with many improvements. the original game had one very big flaw--you could not land, no matter how hard you tried you just couldn't. the plane used to bounce off the runway. when super EF was released it fixed that problem and also fixed the multiplayer issues.
@LeeeHack

That's not true. You could land, though it did required a bit of skill and indeed I believe they made it easier in the windows version.

Where can we find a sim like this to run on our windows 7 or 8 64 bits?
I have still got this game addon CD is slightly scratched will not install main CD is still in pristine condition.
I felt bad for the guys still flying the old-ass mig-21s, with all those fancy su-35s their other squads had.
i have the original SuperEF2000 but i can only run it with virtual windows98 and still it runs so fast :(
