The gastric juices are as follows: 1.Hydrochloric Acid(HCl) 2.Pepsin 3.Mucus Functions of HCl : 1. Kills the germs present in the stomach. 2. Forms acidic medium so that inactive pepsinogen gets converted into active pepsin. Function of Pepsin : Digests proteins. Function of Mucus : Protects the walls of the stomach from the action of the HCl.

Only Proteins are broken down in stomach, with the help of Pepsin. Fats are broken down in the Small Intestine with the help of Lipase , which is one of the pancreatic juices. I hope your doubt has got cleared.😊😊😊
