I have a black on black Benz amg sport and I've had it for 2 year I got about 50,000 miles hopefully going to have her for a while . Been thinking about putting a either stripe just like this one. I was wondering tho do you thing it would look better or more aggressive black with the stripe in the middle and 2 pin stripes instead of one like it shows on this video. Looks good btw I was just curious if down the middle would look better then continue it on the back And maybe some dashes on top where applicable? Also thinking of perhpas making the stripe red same description just. Solid red down the middle and 2 pin stripes running up the side ? LMK

What a great looking end result! Really enjoyed seeing that. With vinyl on vinyl are there and lifting issue or is it just as good as straight on paint? When measuring out the lines are you using anything to mark your distances or putting the tape down as you measure? Thanks for another cool video.

Mother just bought a mini cooper coupe and the racing strips on that one were jacked. The person who installed the silver used a razor and damaged the paint. The next person covered that with a wider blue. Sucks that they didn’t use your method. That vinyl they used was garbage. The car looks better without it. Now we have cut marks to fix.

I'm going to attempt to wrap my hood 2 different colors. Black with a carbon fiber center overlay wrap where the hood has a bump following the body lines of it. Technically my whole hood will be black with center carbon fiber. Can you make a video on something like that doing overlay with knifeless tape? I believe it will be a 3 piece job and center being the last to apply if I'm not mistaken?

Tape has a lower surface energy than the vinyl or paint underneath, meaning the vinyl you lay over the top won't stick as easy to the tape. Makes for easier removal of excess film.

Finish Line is the toughest filament for cutting through the vinyl within any of the knifeless tapes, but it is going to put to better use as more of a 'straight line' type of cut - it's advertised by 3M as being the "strongest" filament of any of the knifeless tapes, capable of cutting thru ~3 pcs of vinyl (I think it even says 3-4pcs, but 4...? haha, personally you wouldn't find me as the person trying to push that limit...but you get the idea, it's strong). Design line, on the other hand, is not as strong as Finish Line, & is noted to safely cut thru ~1-2 pcs of vinyl with ease; any more pieces of vinyl & you could find yourself stuck in a tricky situation with a broken filament in the middle of your cut & trying to carefully get string out from under vinyl....BUT, the MAIN difference in Design Line's favor is its ability to curve around & contour it around more drastically shaped areas with far more precision than Finish Line (so like opposite of FL where remember how I said above that FL is better for straighter cuts; e.g. straight stripe sets, scat pack stripes, etc...)...so DL has a slightly less strong filament, but the benefit is that you can bend it around to do cooler designs (some custom striping, really whatever you can think of without like drastically twisting the knifeless...). Most installers will say they prefer FL bc of its strength, however there is definitely a time + a place for DL, IF you find yourself using knifeless a lot.... Also, fun fact (know you didn't ask, but it's good to know...): Tri-line - both 6mm & 9mm - are made w the same filament as in Design Line...so yes, they do have 3 filaments in em for multiple uses (butt joints/butt seams, cool custom designs, knowing your exact measurements in mm, therefore being able to space out stripes by mm's - as seen in this video, for example - but, it is technically 3 design line filaments put together for one wider piece of tape...so, keep that in mind when using tri-line as far as how many layers of vinyl it can penetrate (same amount as DL). I know you didn't need an essay for your question, but I figure thorough is always best for things like knifeless tape; it's an incredible product, across the board of all of the different types...versatile, can be used for handmade stripes, getting clean cuts in areas or on certain cars you'd never even consider putting a blade to for the sake of the car's well-being...tons of uses for knifeless. So it's always worth having (imo) at least one roll of finish line with you pretty much any time you install. DL is def a plus to have as well, but again: installers all have their own preferences, it's just that most will tend to vouch for finish line if they had to bring only ONE type of knifeless along with them, solely bc it's stronger. Put simply, the need for curving the tape around all over the car in weird contours isn't usually as valuable as being able to cut pieces of vinyl with more strength.... Hope that essay helps ya out, haha.

@@dagraphics4369 I'd definitely disagree that Design Line is better for this type of application, just because they're straight-lined stripes. Finish Line would be better - if this weren't a tri-line specific project - because it makes a better, stronger cut through the vinyl...design line would be good for like flames and things where you need to really curve the filament around past like 30-45degree turns...

I just wanted to thank you for providing these awesome wrap videos. If it weren't for your videos I wouldn't have been able to complete the DIY hood stripes I just did on our Durango SRT. I have to confess, I had tried to install stripes on the SRT hood without using air release vinyl and knifeless tape and both times were huge fails. This hood just has way too many compound curves. Using wrap and knifeless tape saved me on this project. It probably took me four times longer to do the job than it would have taken you but I'm really happy with the end results. Thanks again and here's a link to my DIY video kzread.info/dash/bejne/oHdstNeCY8SzZ5M.html

Great series of videos, super informative for those of us trying this for the first time. But.. and maybe only because I work in video production that I see it, please turn off the auto focus or what ever is making the lens "pulse" in and out constantly. It's so distracting that I can't even pay attention. Set the shot up, focus on where you'll be and then shut auto off. Thanks again for sharing these! Edit: Only the wide shot at the beginning and end was it bad.

What happened to Christian? what did you do with him? where did you find tri-line tape in your garage...? Woah, that 3M guy really did a number on you, huh? hahah. because, well...I recall mentioning in the workshop back in July that, "I feel like you could save some time + a few measurements by just using either of the tri-lines for a bunch of different stripe sets..." and you said you'd just rather "stick to using the normal knifeless since...I dunno, tri-line just doesn't seem right to me...I'm a finish line guy..." So, good to see you finally came around to the ways of tri-line haha. Definitely seems like the 3M guy showed you a nice bundle of tips/tricks...But I gotta say, I'm a bit worried though too, I'm not gonna get a youtube notification one day to find you announcing your brand new "3M certification & 3M preferred status, and that vvivid is total meh" one of these days I hope, right? Promise me you aren't thinking about making any drastic and/or rash choices here... I'm worried about you; it's a slippery slope man. Be careful out there.....hahah but for real though, glad to see a bunch of new vids from your neck of the woods again. Hope you've been doing well! +Mike

Thanks Mike, just showing other ways to do things. There is always more than one way to wrap a car. So as I learn new things I try to share them. I've been aware of Tri line but never invested time into making a video using it. For some people using this will be easier and for others they'll stick to the ways they know. Whatever one you choose it's up to you. Tri line is a good product, it isn't necessary though. We can always achieve results using different products and techniques

@@CKWraps Haha yeah I know, just like givin you a hard time....seeing you using tri-line, never thought I'd see the day....plus obviously, mad respect to finally see a vid made about tri-line that isn't an antiquated 3M instructional vid w narration by Justin Pate, so that's a major bonus. But for real, I'm just hoping not see some vid in the near future from you that's like "HERE'S WHY I'M DITCHING VVIVID TO GO BACK TO 3M, FOREVER"....it would flip my world upside down....although it probably wouldn't reposition it after that though. .....I know you see what I did there ;) Hope everything has been good in your neck of the world!
