My 13 year old grandaughter has taken up crocheting. Im so happy she is interested. She is doing really good with her practicing single and double crochet. She doesnt live near me so i cant really help her that much. I have been sending her beginner patterns from utube. She really wants to make a bag. They will be coming to my house in a week or more. I have to remind her to bring what she has. She will probably need help sewing or crocheting it together and making a shoulder strap and a closure. I havent crochet that much. Im a long time knitter.

I usually take the tail along the new row when joining after tying it to the other yarn. Then you cant see it especially if you have a reasonably long tail. It gives a neat finish no hiding later.

I have tried this pattern but it does not work for me. I have tried different hook sizes and different wools/cottons and it seems that the first part of the pattern is too tight for the 2nd part. Hi Krys, thank you! 🥰 🙏 I'm glad you love the pattern! 😊 From what you've described, it seems like it doesn't depend on the yarn or the crochet hook, it seems like the issue might lie in the different tension you're using for the two parts of the project. It appears that you're working too tightly on the stitches for the first part and too loosely for the second part. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You myst try to maintain a consistent tension throughout the entire project.
