Really interesting to see. I shot and DIY processed some s8 film too a few years ago. I was using new BW negative stock rather than old colour reversal film. But I was amazed when that caffenol recipe worked out pretty well. I got really into it and made my own spiral tank of sorts. I didn't make any 'how to video but i did put the finished movies on to my YT channel.

Great, I made a KZread playlist on my channel called "SHOT ON REAL SUPER 8 CINE FILM.' The black and white ones are the DIY processed ones whereas the colour films were sent away for processing.

Good video. What software do you use to invert or reverse the negative film once you have made a digital video of the film and have it into the computer?

Hi there, I was just wondering what tool do you use to open a non reusable super 8 cartridge?

A bottle opener usually does the job, one like this: goo.gl/images/LV4UfG around the rim of the cart, to pry it open. It's also possible to just pull the film out of the cart as long as you don't scratch it too badly.

Ideally you need one of these: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UPB-1A-UNIVERSAL-FILM-DEVELOPING-TANK-30m-2x15m-100ft-8mm-16mm-35mm-film-LOMO/162379590570?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D2220072%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41415%26meid%3Dcccaf9df4b444ab7a4d3b3d7d1b90dc3%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D322180165448 But they're a lot more expensive than the tank I'm using in this film. Technically you could do it in a bucket in complete darkness!

+Anerley Cartlidge sure, but a lot depends on the age and type of the film.

The only difference between Super & Standard 8 is the sprocket holes.

By 'type' I was referring to the different speeds and emulsions, like Kodachrome vs Ektachrome vs Tri-x. I've tested a few with Caffenol and they mostly work but there's a lot of variation in developing times. That's why it's good to do a test strip first.

+Anerley Cartlidge Yes, but different films respond differently. Some have to be in Caffenol for 3 minutes and others for 8 minutes or more. Temperature is also an important factor. I wasted a lot of money until I learned these things the hard way.
