Super 73 RX review: the best ebike is back!

The Super 73 RX is one hell of an electric bike. It checks off so many boxes for what makes a great ebike in 2020. Great range, suspension, removable battery, comfortable seat, the list goes on. Really cool to be reviewing this 3 years after I reviewed the original.

Stoked to see this review from an OG! Thx for the support.
Dope review Sam. I've been riding the RX since August and its been a blast. The accessibility it provides has definitely opened up NYC for me.
My RX arrived on time after 8 weeks pre order. 1 month in and 600km later - absolutely love it. Strange compression noise from the motor which im currently finding out and problem solving with the customer service team but aside from that very happy..doesnt effect my riding but is a bit noisey at times up hills at 40kmph!
Your videos are always incredible bro! Your filmmaking style is so inspiring to me as a 16 year old young Filmmaker and I will be getting my RX this week!
Great video as always! Super informative with outstanding edits.
THX Sam, awesome review as all your videos, loving your live chat try to join today evening . OMG i want this bike now. You are a cool New Yorker !!!
Oofff 80lbs! I'm in a 5 story walkup. I have the rose ave edition, but I need to eat a handful of senzu beans after I carrie that thing up 5 flights of stairs.

I'm here after Cody Ko mentioned this bike in his podcast, I now understand the hype !
I’m a kid and I have no money for this and I’m planning to get one over the summer. I love this channel cause you get to unowned what your buying before you buy and you get an inside look to every thing. 10/10 would recommend

If you are a child, then you should just cycle, with your own strength. And not through a motorcycle. You're not retired.
The grey with neon green looks so sexy. The biggest difference for me coming from the S1 has been the battery range, top speed and comfortability with the new suspension. What I do miss from the S1 is the torque.
Excellent review, honest and to the point. Keep up the great work 👍

Hey Sam Sheffer! Thank you for the review of that fine city cruiser ebike! I have been riding the Bulls monster E fs which is a Bosch mid drive full suspension fat ebike for almost a year in the mighty north shore mountains of Vancouver British Columbia Canada for almost a year now and I love it! I blast up and down jagged rock strewn logging roads and mountain bike trails! I suggest you try the same! More ebikes is better! Ride ride ride!
Thank you so much! definitely to consider!
cool review !!! love the bike too !
It’s a nice bike! I feel like it’s not the “best bike” though. There are a lot more options now than there used to be. No hate. We as consumers are getting lucky though with a lot more options from Monday motorbikes, Ariel Rider, and Sondors. (Edit: also adding the Sur Ron and Onyx RCR. Haha thanks to the posters that called me out for forgetting them)

@@samsheffer Super 73's are iconic, haven't got the opportunity to ride the new RX series though, so my opinion may not be the most informed. I feel that Super 73 was a bit ahead of the curve in styling and performance, kind of like (even though I hate to use this comparison) "the Apple" of the E-bike world. Competitors are starting to catch up a bit though. The price to range/speed always gave me pause on the Super 73, I bought an Ariel Rider X-class (albeit with a 750w motor and not 2000w) but can get up to 34 MPH in like 5-7 seconds, front and rear suspension, and have range of 25-35 miles depending on PAS. And, I got it for roughly $1,400. Super 73 is more polished and has that customer support and based in the US which is the justification for price I guess- which is great, especially if you don't want to tinker. The two bikes I have my eyes on are the MadMods from Sondors and the Anza from Monday Motorbikes. Honestly would love to see you compare these with the RX when they finally release next year! Keep up the cool content- electric transport is awesome man. Ride safe!

Great vid Sam. You should come to one of our s73 group rides east coast.
In Australia, it's cheaper to get a proper motorcycle than one of these, plus our silly laws have not been updated so we can only allow 250W motors for the bikes. All the Super73 here, are sold with restrictions on the motors. Come on Australia! This is 2020.

@@mistert800 we have the same shit laws in AU, fingers up to the authorities, I put a throttle on and derestrict to 35kph on my cheap Fortis, a Fortis speed video was found and I used that info to program the parameters, not just top speed, wheel size (speedo under reading) was 20", the 20x4 tyres are actually 22", reduced the start up strength, made the PAS more sensitive 3/12 rotation
im hoping to move by the beach this year and im thinking about getting this for cruising at the beach
Awesome review man great work ! Have you tried riding the bike just as "a bike" let's say when the batterie is charging, can you still ride it smoothly ? Go up a hill for ex ?
Ok, I get it...hard not to feel your enthusiasm :) The Super 73 looks and rides as cool as it looks, but I didn't see any hills or dirt and gravel roads in your demo either. Where I live the nearest blacktop is a two-lane highway almost a half mile away over roads of dirt and gravel that reflect the weather rather than welcome a bike tire. I wonder how the 73 would compare to a taller framed ebike with full-sized fenders in an environment devoid of concrete and blacktop?
3:43 thank you! I feel like mine is gonna fall off soon. And I just got my bike less than a month ago
Damnn... Needed it.. Glam
Made the choice to get into motorcycles instead of buying a Super73--being in Denver and the thrill of mountain twisties was WAY too enticing.
Scratching my head as to why they didn't go with a mid drive motor and a belt drive considering the price, the previous model used a mid drive model after all the logical path would be to upgrade suspension (check), improve the frame (check), and swap the chain for a belt drive to make manual maintenance virtually nonexistent. Shame, it looks super cool too.

I have a feeling that there needs to be a chain for its “bike” status
I was looking all over for a review like this. Super 73s are the best!
amazing thing, i would buy if i live in the usa
Looks amazing! I’m concerned about these cruiser-style E-bikes that sit really low, however. How tall are you? Is a bike this short going to be uncomfortable for someone who is 5’ 10” or taller?
@lawyerengineer
2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I couldn't resist giving some feedback on your question. I am 5'10" and these format bikes are comfortable enough for one battery discharge, and very fun to ride on the streets. Trail rides are not good compared to a mountain bike, but fire roads are awesome. If you avoid jumps that allow the hub motor to spin up while in the air and come to a crashing deceleration on landing, you can expect the motor and its internal gears to last for many thousands of miles. If I did not already own a project bike to play with (Coast Cycles), this would be the bike for me.
What helmet are you wearing? I dig that it's low profile 👌..great review btw but I can never afford this bad boy... might pick up an S2 or S1 in the near future 🤞
I'm thinking of getting one even though I don't live in the city. It's pretty cool. I was wondering, what if you want to take it with you to go road trip/travel, have you tried mounting it on your car?
Gotta ask where you got those grey plaid pants, they're dope
80lbs, heck yeah! Thats light considering I’ll NEVER have to lift it!
great review Sam & I like the bike, 'cept not keen on ridged seat one cannot adjust. I currently have an Aventon Sinch & looking for a comparable or "more powerful" (non-foldable) bike.
30 miles of range is what stopping Super73 from popping in the Electric Bike market, it is just too expensive for a low range e-bike. Yes I said low range because there will be always the tension of running out of juice when you're out with the bike. Maybe a little price increase with an addition of a extra battery that comes by default giving maybe and extra 20 miles or so in just throttle mode cuz lets be honest, how many people are using the eco paddle assist mode for the "75" miles range with a low speed and heck if you manage to run out of the battery then good luck paddling this heavy beasty tank of a bike.

Nice review... Can U mount a front or rear rack on the Super 73?
Merci beaucoup !
Thanks for the video! S73RX is a vast improvement over the S and R series! I want a C1X...! IMO-TRUTH, S73RX is a bit overpriced.... Competition is fierce... AR Grizzly SPANKS IT ! ! ! Their ONLY bike with dual suspension... S and R series = All Hardtail... Brake Rotors are thin and tend to warp if you live in hilly areas. Replace cheap Brake pads @ 200mi intervals!
I always wonder why bikes with square frames don't put their batteries in the middle square of the frame and not on top like this one does. You get a lower center of gravity, can put in a bigger battery, and free up that top area for mounts and water bottles

I checked their website, but didn’t see it. Any thoughts on buying a 2nd battery to really get some range out of it?
I wish I had a better place to ride a bike like this. I live in the mountains of NC and I could probably do some trails but if you want to go anywhere here, you are going to be getting on the highway.
Here’s the truth about 73 , love you Sam! I own x2 older 73s that I paid for in full, I love the company (super cool) but they are $1000 over priced , I have a masters degree in engineering and struggle with buying a bike that’s 3500 , sam got this bike for free or for trial for an Ad, do not go in debt over this bike you guys. Please, it’s not worth the debt guilt.
Ok, have you ride a surron and a small motocross track. It was bad ass. This is cool too now with full suspension. Now that it has suspension you can get less wide tires like 2.6-3.0 plus size tires and save more batter and accelerate much faster.
Seems like a serious oversight to have the battery on top with so much empty space in the middle. It restricts how shorter people may attempt to mount the bike with the battery being higher than the seat. It also limits the potential accessories you could use with the bike to have the entire front tube covered by the battery. I could see if they had concerns over the battery maybe falling in rough riding if placed on the bottom of the tube or on side but bicycle battery mounts of dozens of companies have already established that that's not really a likely scenario. Also "The app isn't a priority" if this bike is over 3k and has such a limited shit display you better believe the app is a priority, I was shocked at how little information and options that display supports.
Nice! How tall are you for reference purposes. Is this designed for shorter, medium,’or taller sized adults?
