Unfortunately, Black Cat does not work anymore. Instead of farming at 420 speed, farm at 400, depth strider 3 while holding W. If you do not want to hold W, farm at 298 speed, but this will have less efficient lane swaps.

If anyone is having problems with getting stuck even after adding trapdoors i fixed it by making my boots deps 3, using 411 speed and holding down W all the time so u hug the block infront. (This also makes so u switch to next lane without having to press down W in the end)

@averageskyblockplayer4361 always hold W, and alternate between A and D. By not letting go of W, you'll be switching lanes already by the time you realize it's lane switch time and just need to change between two keys.

With the new pest update, I find it's better to use wooden trapdoors instead of iron as they tend to get stuck in them, making it impossible to kill them

place a layer of any block at the very top of your plots, the pests will spawn on the layer instead of your farm

note that he uses depth strider 2 and not depth strider 3 on his boots. You can also press the W key while farming with depth strider 3 for the same effect

I would argue holding forwards (binding it to space aswell for ease) is better because now the only buttons youre alternating are left and right plus the added facts that'll youll remain close enough to break the melons without deviation.

@@FUZIONxwhat do you mean? This was some time ago now, but i remember timing it. And for the maths, using wiki as sources for speed procentages when using different levels of depth strider on soul sand. Which with depth strider 2 on soul sand the number was equal to using depth strider 3 on soul sand but with holding W while holding A/D. The speeds multiplicative factor was the same for both. And i also timed using both methods and got the same result in time from one end to the other.

4:44 For those building from West to East the ladders don't place correctly going that way but you can just place ladders down from the opposite side of the plot to do what he is doing

When I’m farming I notice that when I’m running to the left it starts to miss blocks unless I turn a bit to the right and when I’m running to the right I have to turn a bit to the left to be at -0.0 or else it missed more than half of the pumpkins, anyone else have this issue and find a fox that doesn’t require me using my mouse?

i built the entire farm 1 block to high up so now i cant place the top layer of seeds...

It seems like they may have patched using black cat, so as an alternative you can use 296 speed with depth strider 3 and still get the full 20 blocks per second. (sadly lane switches will be slower, but assuming I'm correct about the patch it's what must be done).

You can also just have a cactus cutter in your inventory to get to speed 420

Yes, you can go north to south however you will have to place the ladders by hand because it will not work with the builders ruler

when you make a layout your blocks dont drop when broken except for crops, its probably going into a sack you have or you started the paste with seeds down already which shouldnt even effect it

how do you place the ladders like that?

Additional Note you don't need water for melons or pumpkins once the stock is fully grown so the melon or pumpkin will keep producing so this design will remove the problem with bouncing the players enter and exiting water. if you wanna do even more effective farm future proof design you will want to remove water *(BUBBLES) and if they ever do any updates where soul sand adds the bubbles back this will prevent the player from just bouncing around. so just use sponges, I don't know if this decreases the tick rate of growth but they still grow w/o water. I just realized I need the soul sand so I can see the top melon😢 right after completing the farm with dirt instead of soul sand and snow😢 well I guess I gotta find a speed that works well with depth 3 and replace all the dirt with soul sand😅 I will have to do this by hand for EVERY piece of soul sand 😢

No, This farm is built for 420 speed and the corners make it so that you are traveling faster because you are running on layers of snow instead of soul sand.

there's a tiny chance you get stuck in a normal block because the character model has to step up quickly

i followed the directions exactly but theres huge gaps between each section of the farm

It just disables block drops like if u place a dirt and break it u don't get the dirt but u still get crop drops if u break a melon u still get melons
