Sunset on the Mountain | Ben Vane | Munro Bagging | Loch Lomond

We decided to deviate from the usual plan and set out later in the day in the hope that we could catch the sunset on the way back down after bagging the Munro of Ben Vane at Loch Lomond. Normally we start off as early as possible to give us enough time to spare at the end of the walk before darkness sets in, however a change of schedule gave us a welcome long lie in. Torches packed we set off to bag another Munro near Loch Lomond.

It’s quite different from the other Munros in the area but still a decent climb for such a short Munro. We had similar conditions as you can probably see from the video but avoided the wind until we walked out onto the summit

Hoping to do this one later this year, although everyone says it's very difficult but I like a challenge

There’s a decent amount of ascent given how short the mountain is, however I personally don’t think it’s as hard as others make it out to be. Enjoy the day when it comes.

@@HighlandHikers ok cheers. What often gets said is the amount of false summits there are. I'll go when it's spring and the snow has gone

Another good informative video. Done Ben Vane this morning after watching this, tougher then i thought and you weren't wrong about the number of false summit's!

Thanks Craig, hope you had a good day up there. I thought the summit felt like the actual top had been sliced off.

Nice work lads! This was my most recent mountain - me and a pal had tried it in March but the snow was far too treacherous. Went back again at the start of last month and were treated to brocken spectres, inversion everywhere and a fog bow! That section you show at 5:38 was much dodgier than we'd expected!

Thanks Ian. That sounds like the view would have been spectacular! I ventured up that way myself last year but didn’t fancy it with really low cloud and snow, so went round a circuit to Arrochar instead. That section you mentioned was a lot steeper than everything up until that point, but was worth the extra effort - Alistair
