Hello there sir. You should try to paint a sunset with red firey sky like you would see from the Sahara desert dust plume. Very pretty to see. Just a suggestion.

I think he uses Gamblin clear gel for oils. I don't know what he uses for acrylics

When you say, "clear gel and water", what is that? Is "clear gel" an actual product or something I have to make?

I think he said clear gel and WHITE. Clear gel is a transparent painting medium and is available on his website. He just mixed it with white in this video to brighten the colors .

@@Earlboone Yes, thanks, he DID indeed say "white", not water. Still, your answer is exactly what I needed. I shall try to find "transparent medium", is that right?

I started painting on canvas 1 1/2 years ago and went from ugly landscape something to realistic looking paintings. I painted like 15 canvases over the 1 1/2 years, so not even much (mostly rather smaller canvases) and had some breaks. Im definetly not painting every day lol. You just have to learn the basics i guess. Colors, shades, highlights, proportions. Its as easy as it sounds. When you go to work/ school, look at the trees / sky and look how nature actually looks. You will see that in real life a tree isnt only brown + green. Maybe there are some bluish shades, redish highlights on the leaves. Just focus on things in nature others wouldnt focus on and it will improve your paintings so much. No need to study, no need to take classes. Just paint. I tell ya every canvas gets better, progress is insane in my opinion. And one more thing: Dont overdo your paintings in the beginning. If it looks shitty, finish it fast and go on to the next sheet/ canvas. There you can improve what you have done wrong. You will throw away most old paintings anyway, because you will improve and find your old paintings bad. =) Hope this comment can help some beginners!
