Such a cool station! I love the middle-track platform and the fact that they matched the design to the historic station.

Great content, as always!! Even from far away (Virginia), I am excited for DeLand, Florida! Having been a kid who saw a lot of closed stations- especially in small Southern towns- it a treat to see a station on the eve of a new mission!

I’m impressed with all the progress made so far. It helps for Amtrak to be able to connect with commuter rail services.

This is awesome to see! I grew up nearby off Lake Beresford. Ever since a little girl I could hear the trains, the circus animals along with airboats from my bedroom. I always envisioned a train ride, still on my list of “to-do’s” I am looking forward to doing a Sunrail ride one day as a lunch destination. 54 years later, I finally took some journal time on the platform at the depot. Unfortunately it was closed~ after all, there at 2 am. Peaceful yet eery and only the airboats heard on the lake and that really loud noise in the bushes where I kept thinking that lion that escaped long ago came back jumping the fence to visit his former home as I…. So many motorcycle rides around those areas and dirt bike riding along the tracks to Orange city in younger years! All the best for success with this expansion! I was really glad when the new parking lot opened. It was hard finding a safe and out of the way place to park when I made my visits. My first visit was with my Grandparents meeting family members coming here to visit. I was 4 or 5 years young and that was when I became a rail fan. Keep up the great work and I love all of the drone views too!!

Love to see this! as a Huber once quoted "this was all orange grove" I feel like this will happen to the Deland station area!

It's always nice to see new construction and bringing back rail service to the towns and cities. I sure wish my state would upgrade their rail service and build new lines for those of us that have to drive miles to get to a train station. Thank you for all the great coverage and updates you bring us!

Thanks for the update! What are the diamond-shaped areas in the parking lot for? EV chargers? Or just landscaping?

How far south of the Deland station is the first crossover? I'm curious how much flexibility not connecting the north end of the second track back to the main loses them in terms of ops (though I realize it's not much as it's only a few miles at worst, I guess?)

It’s roughly halfway between the two locations I filmed, so maybe half to 3/4 of a mile south of the station. There is no good access for me to get close which is why I’ve never filmed it up close.

Do they run any freight on this line?

Part of the deal when SUnrail purchased this line was that CSX moved the vast majority of the freight onto the S line, so nowadays its just a few locals and maybe one or two thru trains overnight.
