SUNN O)))'s Shoshin (初心) Duo Live at Pioneer Works (Full Set)
Ойын-сауық
Characterized by slow tempos, heavy distortion, and environmental effects, the music and performances of SUNN O))) saturate their environments with monolithic soundscapes and immersive atmospheres. In December 2022, guitarists Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson, who founded the experimental metal band in Seattle in 1998, returned to the live aspect in its core, original raw form. The two performed as Shoshin (初心) Duo, immersing the audience in profound valve amplification, spectral harmonics, distortion, and volume. Witness a live experience of physical sound, fog, and glacial maximalism like no other.
This project is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Program in Public Understanding of Science and Technology, bridging the two cultures of science and the arts.

A Tiny desk sesh would be sick
Legend has it, they have added a second note to the new material
Saw this in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Changed my perspective on music as a whole. Insane how you can really tell different parts calming down and picking up when hearing this afterwards. It's a complete vaccuum of space and time when you're witnessing this in person.
I was front row center. The greatest sonic experience of my life.

@@nin114 why it’s appealing in the least bit. Sounds awful.
Saw them in Bristol on this tour. Phenomenal. Never seen anything like.
My friend went to see Sunn and he said it was like someone put a vacuum over the world and kept turning it on and off within milliseconds and at points felt like he was literally breathing the electricity and amplitude of the riffs
Its kinda surreal seeing a recording of Sunn O))) that has multiple camera angles and decent audio.
I saw and felt the shoshin duo in Vienna last year and it was a transcendental experience. My left ear still tells a story about that gig 😅

My left ear too. Hasn't been the same. Ear plugs had no chance
shoshin came to slc, i could still hear the note as if i was next to the speakers getting a sip of beer outside the VENUE
was there. absolutely packed. many people sat on the floor towards the back soaking this in. very different experience than i had anticipated but it was surreal nonetheless. the sheer volume and sonic pressure forces you into a trance like state. their set surely felt longer than 1hr20min.

This live recording is amazing...but pales in comparison to in person. Cliché but true, you really had to of been there. I saw them on the euro tour this year and made sure to get to the front, its so much more transcending and arty live in person.
Awwww yea!!!!!
I wonder if they have sticky lungs. All that fog smoke to your face is sure to do some damage. I used to have a fog machine in my room and it became like ghostbusters sticky.
Track list?
Never sucked up on this...

you either like it or you don't. i enjoy strung out ambient music and grungy guitar feedback so it stuck with me

When I saw them with om there was a huge sign on the venue wall saying: PLEASE take the free earplugs we're providing. It WILL be that loud.

They are so loud, it actually rearranges your molecular structure. The shows in The Caverns of Tennessee were legendary.

Peak at 125db so yeah pretty loud 😂 but I didn't find it too loud compared to some other bands, depends of the venue and the amounts of high in the music I guess
who is that guy who keeps looming around in the background
Should be headlining Glastonbury instead of all that pop shit
Thank God they don't use a whammy bar
