Yes 24 hours is her debut solo. It was such a huge hit that so many kpop idols covered it. Sunmi is currently 31 years old so She was 21 when 24 hrs came out.

for lalalay, "lalalay" is a play on one of the korean words for crazy. so when she says "you know i'm lalalay", the "lalalay" means "crazy".

Sunmi is that girl, I love her music so much, also she usually produces and writes all of her music, just look at the credits of her albums after she left jyp! Its one of the main reasons I love her, if you ever check out her albums, 1/6 is my personal fav

24 hours & full moon were insanely popular when they came out! A lot of idols would do covers of them on shows even boy groups! After watching you for awhile i feel like you’d really love the girl group EXID I’d highly recommend their songs up&down, ah yeah, hot pink & ddd! Those are some of most well known/popular songs!

as far as dance practices go i'd def recommend the "gashina" part change one where the female and male dancers change parts and its hilarious

If you're missing LOONA I can recommend their cover of Full Moon, it was a very nice stage by them. The Studio Choom of Tail is a MUST!

It’s interesting how you seemed to like 24hours the most when it’s the only song produced by JY park , definitely proves how great he is in producing (He wrote and composed the song while also overseeing the dance, the music video and the choreography) , not to ignore how great sunmi was and how good she is in producing , i just like when JYP produce something good

24 Hours reminds me SO much of Gain - I really wonder if she took inspiration from her (outfits, haircuts, choreo, sexy vibes, etc) - ps if you haven't checked out Gain - Paradise & FxxK U, that is DEFINATELY the same type of vibe. So love both of them!

I was thinking the same! I don't remember if I've ever seen the MV for 24 Hours but I definitely was getting Gain vibes now. I just had Paradise Lost stuck in my head the other day when I nearly tripped on a puppy and when I tried to avoid stepping/falling on another one, I ended up falling anyway. Then all 9 one month old puppies (I work at a kennel) climbed on me and I thought "I feel like I'm in Paradise Lost" as I surrendered and laid there covered in puppies. And then Gain's song started playing in my head.

Have you seen the collaboration MV of JYP and Sunmi "When we disco"? It's really good and fun. It came out 3 years ago.

Now you need to check out "when we disco" by Sunmi and J.Y.Park it's honestly amzing. Also, she has a song with Jackson Wang called "Time Is Up"

Thought I'd pop in and drop some knowledge, since you seemed curious: 24 Hours: This was her solo debut, but she actually debuted in 2007 with Wonder Girls (most known for their 2008/2009 hit Nobody, the first K-pop song to chart in the US) before leaving the group in 2010 to pursue her studies and ultimately re-debuting as a soloist in 2013. Wonder Girls were also the first K-pop group to tour the US, which they did as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers. Full Moon: Sunmi plays a vampire who has fallen in love with a man she watches through his window who uses a wheelchair. She transforms him into a vampire so that they can be together and to give him the ability to walk. The featured rapper is Lena from Brave Entertainment, which is why the song intros with JYP saying this is the first collaboration with JYP and Brave Sound. LALALAY: I don't speak Korean so I don't know the exact phrases, but the title translates to "bully"/"bad girl". As you could guess from the opening lyrics, Sunmi was at the center of a lot of gossip at the time, and this song is in part her pushing back saying that "You know I'm naughty, but I'm not LALALAY/a bully". The chorus uses wordplay to sound like a different phrase that suggests that she's flying above the criticism, which is why there's so much butterfly imagery (the pigtails and holding her hair like antennas, the paper butterfly, the butterfly stickers on the luggage she crawls out of, even the way the luggage lands on her back like butterfly wings). The music video adds another layer to the meaning because everything Sunmi does, others are copying - the wig, glasses, and dress at the beginning, the sea of identical featureless faces copying her hairstyle, and most notably the salon scene where everyone is gawking through the window and by the time she leaves everyone has already copied her new hairstyle. Even as Sunmi was getting criticized, those same people were imitating her, and this song is her firing back at those people.

Her 1/6 ep that she put out with You can't sit with us was my album of the year!!!!! I play Narcissism and Sunny and Borderline and 1/6 still daily!!!!! She is so one of a kind and not just in kpop but in all music. And don't forget absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!

24 hours is so good because it was kpop in the 2000s and that’s my favorite kpop so lol. Kpop in the 2000s had a sound and vibe that was unlike no other lol

I had a hard time getting into Sunmi originally, the songs just weren't doing it for me. But then something clicked, and when I listened again I loved everything. I do find her singular though, I can't just add her songs to any Playlist. It has to be a particular Playlist, or a Sunmi only playlist.

Sunmi is my favorite female solo artist ❤ I remember so well when she debuted with "24 hours". I fell so much in love with the dance 😉 After like the first watch of the mv I've only been watching the dance version. lol. I love her music as well, but I fell for the dancing first and the music grew on me. It was fun to see the mv again with you 😜 And especially fun to hear you want to watch the dance as well 😁

I love all of these Sunmi reactions! We definitely have opposite tastes lol. My least favorites are 24 Hours and Full Moon, though I wholeheartedly love how iconic those were back when they came out. My faves are Heroine, Siren, and Porappipam.

Borderline is another music video / performance video (in English). There’s a song called Gotta Go that has a performance video too. All of these songs have pretty good dance practices. Especially Lalalay. I know lives are hard to do, but she dances / performs with Seulgi with Heroine. I think she also dances with Taemin for a live vid too. Great reaction! Glad you liked these songs a lot. Her album for You Can’t Sit With Us had a song called Sunny that she did a live version of too. You could also check out her original group, Wonder Girls, who are pretty awesome.
