Surprised you didn’t talk about him on the Obi-Wan show with Deborah Chow.
20K for his role in Tokyo Drift is wild. I hope he gets mad royalties now. That and I hope he got paid a lot more in the subsequent FF roles.
dude is an icon for us older asian dudes

Bro I'm a 29 year old white dude and he's an icon for me. So many legendary roles. I watched Tokyo drift hundreds of times just because I loved his character. My mom asked me why I was always trying to snack on chips and I said because han is always snacking.
Sung was a pioneer. Now is such a dope time for Asian actors. They’re everywhere in mainstream TV & movies, but it was dudes like Sung that helped kick that door open back in the day.

not really. it got SLIGHTLY better than 20 years ago. I don't see the "everywhere in mainstream TV" you're talking about
As an Asian kid growing up in the 90s, I idolized all the Asian actors, too. It's pretty awesome to hear Sung's story of actually trying to follow in their foot steps.
This gonna blow up. Dumb way underrated and doesn't get the respect he deserves.
I think out of all the videos I've seen Sung Kang being interviewed in he seems the most relaxed and comfortable speaking with Dumb.
Wow, I did not expect Sung Kang to be such a good storyteller. I was fully invested.

Me neither. I actually rarely ever finish watching videos ESPECIALLY ones this long, but I watched the entire thing, engaged the entire time. That proves he’s a good storyteller

@graciekattan6618 I wonder if that's why Dumb said that he had "director energy".
why is sung just so cool. gimme your coolness
This Podcast is so so good. Not sure why it doesnt have more views. Should get 100K per episode.
Besides knowing Sung Kang from Tokyo Drift, I loved seeing him and Bobby Lee in the MadTV K-Drama sketch lol
Sung seriously did so much for male Asian actors, he's the goat, and it's awesome to hear him talk about that stuff!
Dumb you goated for this
Wow this was an awesome interview! Thanks for having Sung on your podcast. Loved this guy ever since I saw him on Tokyo Drift. I really respect his wholesome demeanor and the way he talks about his life and career journey. He has an amazing presence on screen and he’s such a good storyteller. Never knew he was in GOD’s music video! Now I have to go watch it! 🇰🇷😆
Closed Captions are FINALLY in! Also, Sung is very chill and just brought a different, cool energy to this episode.
Hearing Sung have that much love for Bobby made me so happy. That Korean Drama Mad TV skit aged very well too.
Dayum dumb really stepped up with this guest
Loveddddd this interview!! 😊
Super excited to join the Patreon. Thanks Dumb!
Everyone may know him as the drift king, but I know him as Johnny Gat! Glad he’s doing well!
He ONLY got paid 20k for tokyo drift wtf
This is a great episode! I've only started FWD a couple months back and binged most of it. Underrated podcast fr
YO THIS EPISODE WAS ACTUALLY SO GOOD! I love the part when you guys talked about the Car Discussion youtube series, that series was seriously so damn funny, and the ending with Sung guessing what types of people drive what cars was so good!
Dumbfounded, I gotta say. I remember you since the early KZread days and I admit I didn't follow your entire career but I always remembered you and seeing you pop up in my recommendations a lot now with podcasts, guests on other ones, interviews, music, etc I feel I gotta say, much respect for your hustle. You never stopped, huh? You just kept the grind and it's paid off I'm sure more than once for you. Congrats bro. Honestly. Much respect. ❤ Oh yeah and I remember you from even being on JK News and stuff early on. Videos with JK Films too? Man, been so long. I haven't kept up with every channel I did back then. I'd watch every single video certain channels released. I gotta go back and see how everyone's doing nowadays. That's my bad. 15 years went by fast.
Damn love these podcasts with great guests!!
I came just for a quick listen of certain topics. But DAMN....this was a damn good, deep conversation. FKN AWESOME!
It's good to hear from him. Keep the grind going guys!
Man this whole pod was straight fire, new sub here 🤙🏼 Sung is such a legend would love to meet him someday.
the car game was hilarious, sung was so spot on!!
Walkin Legend.. We need Sung on Tigerbelly!!
🥰😍🥵❤️🔥💯👏🏾 This is by far the most amazing, awesome engaging flawless interview. I love how Dumb shows true admiration, respect, for the talented Sung Kang. Sung is so humbled and passionate he deserves all his blessings, successes, and accolades. 🤲🏾👏🏾💖💫⭐️ Bring him back...need a part 2. 😊

I really enjoyed this episode! I learned so much and enjoyed Sung’s demeanor. His southern roots make so much sense ❤
Loved this interview! Had no idea he was in the g.o.d. video!

So glad I found this podcast! I grew up as an Korean-American in Iowa, and it was very difficult. I wish I would've grown up in K-town. I probably would've thrived far better there

The car guessing game was amazing haha. Sung Kang is on point lol
Dumb형 thanks for this🔥
Better Luck Tomorrow was such an interesting film bc it was the first time I saw all Asians in a movie doing bad shit. And based on a true story. Been a fan ever since, I could’ve listen to another hour. I would’ve liked to hear more about how he ended up in Georgia? In Hawaii, we all know why we’re here, but in the states i always wonder how Asians end up in like middle America. It’s always interesting to me.
yooooooo Sung Kang bro. Living Legend
Legendary 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Crazy guest on this pods episode!
What an awesome story, a pioneer, I relate so much as a Korean American born in the 90s. Such a cool dude!!
I look forward to more talk like these.
Really good podcast for Asian American
i became a subscriber coz of this. kang the goat
Better luck tomorrow was way ahead of its time. Thank you for embracing the Han character hyung. Legendary
Sung Kang is an OG
🔥❤️ love it
Giorgetto Giurgiaro is my favorite designer of all time. That man has built the most based cars, cameras and consumer products in the world. Didnt know he had a touch on the hyundai pony but im glad he did. He also designed the Nikon F3 and the Nikon l35af.
Han hasn't aged at all....
Dumb needs to be in film! I am so there!
This guy is so real. Respect.
This man icon of us Asian people we so proud of you man when see you on big movie hope see you more in movies man and so happy for Asian kids now days you can see a lot of show who look like us on TV and can feel y'all belong here some how you can be anything you want in this world
🤯😍😍🔥🔥🔥love dumb💕
Better Luck Tomorrow made me think he's gonna be a star. 30 years later and still pumpin. That popcorn eating thing made me recall Bruce Lee at the end of "BIg Boss." Iconic! I'd like to see another star pull it off like Sung and Bruce did. That would be a fangasm.
How is this guy just so effortlessly cool
Was this interview before the viral moment of his step-dad
He was one of my very first online celebrity crushes, he doesn’t age 😢
Sung Kang !!!🎉
Better Luck Tomorrow is the OG Crazy Rich Asians

Please don't insult Better Luck Tomorrow by comparing it to that pile of trash C.R.A. Like, Better Luck Tomorrow actually represented the Asian-American wannabe gangster lifestyle as it was in Orange County and LA. C.R.A. was a minstrel movie for white people to enjoy.
Need the skin routine for both of these two gentlemen haha 🍿💯
Thank you dumb for having an African American actor on your podcast 😜👍
Better luck tomorrow ❤
the sentra bit. first thought is my favorite maryland rapper
Surprised y’all haven’t linked before!
Sung is a goat!
Can we get Steven Yeun on the show
K Dramas just remind me of our telenovelas in Colombia and just all of South and Central America. So dramatic. So extra. And some are absolutely wild. They really know how to hook ANYONE. I dare you to try watching more than one episode. I blame my mom for so much time wasted. 😂
🔥
🔥🔥🔥
better luck tomorrow my GOAT film
Fast and furious wouldn't be what it was without Han!
When I am finally loaded I WILL have his veilside Mazda from Tokyo Drift.
Me with my funko pop and shoe collections 😅😂
He is very intelligent
HAN!!!!!!
beef was a banger series , so does warrior
Ke Huy Quan took forever to get his flowers. I believe in Sung if he has the will to keep pushin. Great episode.
❤❤
I would not be surprised if shang tsung looks were based off sung kang. I can see it
I took my driver's test with my parents permission at 14 1/2 for my learners permit.
Dumb without a beanie or hat is crazy
Omg ❤
Dude, not a single question about BARTSTOW?!
Planning to tour all around the world? 👀👀👀
Love him and Bobby Lee in Korean drama sketches in mad tv
BEtter Luck Tomorrow probably the first thing I saw him in.
Actually irrespective of races, if u ever notice. Those that is behind the scene r really those that u never really gave much thought about. These r the ppl that got selected from the best mind around the globe. Juz go thru name list of the team members e.g. from ideas to implementations of nuclear weapon etc - although some regretted their creations now. More destructive than good came out from it etc... If used for greater good imagine the values it adds.
3:01 Rather than trying to figure out where you are in the food chain, Wong Fu Productions chose to build their own food pyramid because let's face it, the doors aren't exactly being knocked and certainly with more eyeballs looking else where, it's becoming more of a numbers game than ever. This is why you have streaming platforms just bringing content from overseas because they found that there is an audience for it. Certainly as content and studios mature else where we'll see more of this global proliferation of entertainment landing stateside. Good on him for trying to control his own destiny and not sit back and wait for Hollywood.
