In my culture it’s disrespectful to let the guests do the dishes but it’s more respectful to do the dishes in the host’s home. Basically don’t let them do dishes in our home but do the dishes in their home

i always wash my dishes at someone else's home, but never right away at my own. In my house, my mess is my mess and that's my problem. But in someone else's home my mess shouldn't be left for them to clean up later.

If you come to someone's house you actually expected not to lift any finger. Esp if it's the first visit. At least this is the culture at my country(also asian). Saying that he will only wash what he used means he didn't want to make his friends uncomfortable to see him do extra work.
