Hi Lauren, I watch your videos all the time and love the simple straight forward way you present playing guitar. I was looking for a video on Sundown and was pleased you had one. Just one thing on the lead at the end though. You're right that we are playing an E note at the 14th fret over an E shaped chord, but because of the capo that chord is actually F#. As a result, I think that lead needs to be shifted up to the 14th and 16th frets to go along with the key of the song. Or the maybe it should be moved to higher strings so it can be played lower on neck.

This great song was released when I was about 14 years old. (put your calculators away I'm 63 and I don't care who knows it). Unfortunately I can't get my pinky to the 4th fret to achieve the B sus... chord, which is a shame cos it sounds great. Anyhoo, great lesson as usual, I'm loving catching up with these great songs of my youth.

Great sound

I damaged the pinky on my fretting hand in an accident on my motorbike. When I curl my fingers it bends inwards a bit making the stretch to the 4th fret difficult. There is no three finger chord that might suffice use is there?

Yeah, that's a tough one. You could try barring and using the third finger. Your hand might be bigger than mine, so that might work.

DO NOT NEED A CAPO ...RAISE THE CHORDS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CAPO

..um the song is in F# Major, no capo required. Just learn your barre chords and strengthen your hand. And you really have to create your own interpretation of this song since Gordon always played a 12 string guitar and his lead guitarist moves all over the place with counterpoint and harmonics. Why change the key? Verse: F# Major F#7 C# Major F# F#7 Chorus: F# B Major E Major F# Major Then it's really about figuring out how to throw some of the melodic licks in and getting a smooth jammy kind of thing going while keeping the groove pumping as the bassist provides. Don't forget there is tambourine during the Chorus which picks up the swing too so good to think about that in the back of your mind.

Hmmm a quick check on GLSundown live brings up Gordon live in Reno and he’s playing his 12 string WITH A CAPO ON THE SECOND FRET. Don’t quit your day job. This young lady is correct. An apology is in order.
