I started watching your videos to learn more about Jewish households and religious activities, as I was raised in the South with no diversity. I'm not only learning a lot about your culture but I feel loved whenever you end your videos. It goes without saying but hearing people give affirmation in a patient, calm tone brings tears. I appreciate you and the videos you provide. In the world of hate and negativity, I'm very thankful for your content - thank you for sharing.

5 holidays over 4 weeks?? Oh my. You’re an inspiration. Honestly. I used to get overwhelmed very easily because I worked full time as a CNA in a nursing home and no one helped me with household duties. Now my children are grown and moved out, my husband and I separated, and I’m facing a foreclosure. Many things you did, I would also do to keep me sane. As a non practicing Christian, please let me tell you how inspired I get while watching your videos. You have a lovely family.

The smell of cloves has always been a grounding smell for me. When I have anxiety/panic attacks I grab the tiny bottle I always have with me and do my breathing routine with them. The smell reminds me of my mom and being in the kitchen with her when she baked or cooked. The kitchen was always a safe place because no one was allowed to fight or argue in moms kitchen and no where else in this world have I ever felt as safe as when I'm wrapped up in a hug by my mom.

I went to a high school with many (secular) Jewish people, and the university I went to had such a high percentage of Jewish students that we celebrated the Jewish holidays as well as the Christian holidays. I knew (secular) Jewish people my whole life. My first boyfriend was a secular Jewish boy, as was my prom date. My best friend was Jewish, a lovely gal. Having said that, I was ignorant of many different aspects of Judaism, for example, words. In one case I shocked a Jewish counterpart by saying a word was beautiful, and discovering it was the word for the greatest tragedy in human history. Absolute and utter mortification. I realized then the depth of my ignorance, and thus I am happy to have found your channel. I have never met anyone who is of any Orthodox (Jewish or otherwise) religion, except I did meet a Coptic woman a while back. I am not certain why this is, but it was not on purpose. My experience of organized religion has not been kind. I think subconsciously I shied away from religious people due to my negative experiences. Your videos are the first time I am hearing a lot of "whys", which is really interesting, and helps me to understand the thought process behind everything from mundane tasks, to high holiday rituals. You asked what we are grateful for? I am grateful for your videos. I like the way you talk about your religion because of the joy in your voice. I feel as if we have more in common than not. And while we may not, even as well meaning people, come to the same conclusions about things, I have a real sense of a full, thinking person behind your words and actions. It's an opportunity to rethink my positions. It makes me happy that there are people of conscience still in the world, people who can both reason, and be true to a faith, something greater than themselves. This restores my peace of mind. And that is indeed something to be grateful for. The way you make sense of chaos and the otherwise inexplicable... you are a blessing to your children. And in case it's not obvious, I love your Sunday reset routine.

You're running in my background while I get ready for my day so that I can work on the quilt I'm making for my youngest grandchild, a boy. He is nearly 2, but with delayed development due to a rare genetic disorder called NR2F1. We feel that he is extra special, special needs. Last week he picked up a cup and drank from it. He can sit alone now and is learning to stand when propped up. He's learned the all done sign. We celebrate each achievement. Thank God, he is a a beautiful happy child though non-verbal. The quilt is high contrast black and white because the disorder usually has some visual acuity difficulties. Working with fabric and sewing quietly gives me peace. There's a little of my life since you share yours so freely with us.

Two unrelated comments: 1) You should publish a cookbook! You have so many lovely recipes and they are already typed up. 2) Birdseed: we keep ours in a metal trash can outside. First I got a plastic can, but the squirrels chewed into that. I love the scoop/funnel combo for filling the bird feeder.

I keep both kinds of birdseed (black sunflower and Nyjer thistle) in metal garbage cans too, but we have to keep them inside the garage to prevent black bears from getting into them. Three summers ago one wandered down our street to the town park, and last summer one even wandered into our next-door neighbor’s yard in the middle of the night and helped itself to their bird feeder, so that tells you that we have to remember we’re in bear country!

My hair dresser is my daughters age, yet she too felt it was a familiar smell, yet neither of us could figure out what it was. My daughter and I decided if reminded us of my mother in law. A wonderful woman to be brought to mind.

What you mentioned about smells...it is amazing how a scent can bring back even very old memories. For me the smell of a beauty salon reminds me of when as a young child I would accompany my Mom z”l to work as a hairdresser. A frying egg reminds me of my grandma’s z”l luncheonette she had in Manhattan and the smell of fresh cut wood reminds me of her country home in the Catskills. My grown children can recognize a smell of a perfume as the one I used when they were infants. To the point where my son was walking in Geula, Yerushalayim and quickly turned around when he smelled that scent, thinking I must be there! Haha!

I am the worst at keeping house, so having someone else who could do all of those things for me? Yes, please. When can she start? Tomorrow? Tomorrow would be great. But in all seriousness, it is wonderful that your daughter has such strong organization skills. For one, it makes keeping a house that much easier. For two, if she decides to work outside of the home, and should it be permissible under Jewish Law, she could always be either a professional cleaner, or she could be a personal organizer!)

Now that our oldest is coming into her preteen stage she has begun looking for more independence, like folding and organizing her clothes in a certain way. She can tell when her sister has been in her things and she does not get upset but I know that it is important for her to have control over some things in her life. It’s just dawned on me that having your religious/rest day on Friday/Saturday, when living in countries that have a Saturday/Sunday weekend, works really well! That way you get the first part of the weekend to connect with family and relax (after your Shabbat prep that is), and then can spend Sunday making sure the week has an amazing start! I don’t practice any religion as an adult, but I think I’m going to start using this principle in our house too- family and personal connection on Saturday, and reset on Sunday.

My advice when shopping for a new one is to be sure the store has it in stock, or be prepared to wait--supply chain issues are significantly affecting appliance purchases. I love these videos you make ever since I was a small child I loved the Jewish religion. I found many things in the religion that fascinated me . Hope you have a wonderful day sending love and positive thoughts from North Carolina in the United States 😇

Thank you so much for your calmness, inspiration, and kindness. I stumbled across your channel a bit ago and have learned so much. I love learning about different cultures and faiths (I am a Polish Catholic). My specific reason for writing today was the very end when you state you are loved and are enough. That brought tears to my eyes. Thank you again!

We all need a reset. Just getting over COVID despite being fully vaccinated. I take care of the horses we still have on the farm. Worried more about my mom as she and I got it at the same time. It's been over a week and the final test was negative. I feel exhausted still. The week is still new, we took in a homeless kitty. He will need a vet appointment to deal with indiscretions, just in case. I'm working on my immunology course and that has been tough. I start back to work on Tuesday. Just one more test just to be sure. I'm constantly cleaning. I'm glad your up and running.
