Sunday Drive in My 1931 Ford Model A Pickup - Sequim Washington

A perfect spring day for a drive in my Model A!
Diane and Skye, our Norwegian Elkhound accompanied me on a casual drive around rural Sequim Washington where we are retired and living our dream! Our first and only stop was at Dungeness Landing, a small Clallam County Park with a boat launch on the shores of Dungeness Bay. The tide was low, and the view of Mount Banker and the Dungeness Spit Lighthouse was spectacular! Next, we cruised down Marine Drive that follows along the bluffs overlooking Dungeness Bay, then passes by the steep access road to Cline Spit County Park with a small public beach and boat launch. Often on windy days you will see windsurfers skirting across the choppy but protected waters of Dungeness Bay. Finally, we drove past the Olympic Game Farm to see the animals through the fence, and lines of vehicles occupied by tourists who were feeding the animals special bread purchased at the Game Farm. What a ride it was!

My late aunt had a model A with a rumble seat in Tucson, AZ and I have very fond memories of riding around the Santa Catalina foothills with her. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video!

This video was such a treat ! It was a real pleasure to discover your area, and what a beautiful area that is! Beautifully landscaped streets, wonderfully lush nature, mountains in the background, it's simply wonderful. I live in France, near Paris, and fell in love with Model As a few years ago when my best friend's grandfather trusted me to take his 1930 Roadster on a road trip to a classic car event. What a privilege! It was a life-changing motoring experience, and I've been dreaming about owning one too someday ever since. Until the day I can afford to move to a more car-friendly area, I cherish videos like yours because they allow me to recapture this experience. I've always felt a close connection to the United States ever since I worked in Ohio for a summer job when I was 18. Since then, I was lucky to come back on a few occasions and travel in California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. I'm really hoping to do a road trip in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming in the future. The beautiful sceneries in your video really confirmed that I should spend some time visiting the Olympic national park area because it seems truly stunning. Thanks for sharing this precious moment with us and for allowing a stranger across the ocean to revisit cherished memories. Sending you best wishes from France !

Thank you for the compliments! Diane and I feel very fortunate to have found our retirement home here in Sequim on the Olympic Peninsula. It is a piece of paradise! But of course, my videos focus on the best areas and scenery. Taking a 1930 Model A coupe on a road trip sounds ambitious to me. A 10-mile round trip on fairly level roads, going no more than 45 mph is my comfort zone for driving my A. You have inspired me to record some more Model A videos, so check back in the near future!

Randall, that was a great drive and your A is pretty sharp! Beautiful country there, too. One thing I'm curious about though- why do you say the gas valve won't turn? Your Zenith carb and the linkage looks to be set up correctly. If you turn it to the left, it will open the needle valve and allow more fuel flow. But you shouldn't need that on startup. All you should have to do is set the ignition lever one notch down and the hand throttle lever about halfway down, then briefly pull the choke as you crank the starter. The engine should start first or second attempt and run at a high idle until warm, then you can back off the hand throttle and pull the ignition lever all the way down for driving. Thanks for the videos. I love your A Pickup!
