My great-grandmother made me a Sunbonnet Sue quilt, I was 10 years old. I've always cherished it. You've inspired me to make this for my great-granddaughters, I have 5 right now. I I love the embroidery stitching, as I'm not great at applique. Thanks🙏🌹🥰

That was my mom’s favorite quilt block. I have some of her pieces to still put together and blocks she gave me and a pink sheet for the back fabric. Years ago when my mom used to quilt in the 70’s she used cardboard and I have her magazines and some of them have her cardboard templates. You did a wonderful job! I’m sure the original quilter would be pleased that you’re finishing her work. I hope to one day finish my mom’s. She’s only been gone two years. Hopefully soon so everyone could enjoy seeing her work 💐. Thank you for the inspiration.

Wow, that brings back memories. When my 54 year old daughter was very small, I made her a Sun Bonnet Sue and Overall (?) Sam quilt. It was fun to make and she still has it. Lots of tiny pieces. No heat n bond back then. Your embroidery looks terrific! Great job!!

Sunbonnet Sue, Farmer Bill, and even cats in Bonnets,. Wow memories are flashing! Taught my 80 Year old M other in Law to do applique, and she made her grandson one! I In 1994, I still have that same pattern! Hmm I'm getting some age on me! It is so fun to do the Sunbonnet Sue!

Loved seeing this video. I have the Sunbonnet Sue quilt that my grandmother made for me when I was a young girl. She also made the block with the boy in overalls. She embellished each block with extra embroidery, like a dog, a fishing pole, a wheelbarrow, etc. I don't know how she found the time to do this as busy as she was on the farm! Great memories today.

Beth you did a wonderful job. I am amazed at how close your material choices matched the originals. Please make sure and show the quilt when you get it finished! I would love to see it. I just love your channel. Thank you so much for the time you take in making and editing your videos. I did a Sunbonnet Sue many years ago for my daughter and did 12 of them going through the month. The one for her birthday month had a cake and candles. March, my birthday falls on Saint Patricks Day and I put Sue in a green dress and green Shamrocks in the grass, Sue was a bride the month my daughter got married and pushing a baby carrage the month she had her baby. it was delightful. That was 21 years ago. Thank you for bringing back such wonderful memories for me.

I have a top from the 1930's in this pattern . It has huge Sunbonnets . The top drapes over my queen size bed . Been thinking about cutting the blocks smaller . It also has two blocks for shams. Each Due has a different fabric print with a solid hat to match . So fun to look at ! I also do hand needle turn applique . No need to be perfect with that and I love the black stitching around. Old aprons can be a source for the fabric I have a lot but hate to cut them up .

You make it look so achievable, thanks. I will try and get over my fear of embroidery ;-)

The sun is shining and I’ve found a new video from you 🎉🤩 What a perfect way to start a Sunday morning 😊 I don’t usually like appliqué but then I’d never seen it done like this before - and I love it 🥰 Thanks Beth 👏👏🇬🇧

This pattern is almost identical to the one in 101 quilt patterns. By Ruby McKim. Older soft cover book , but might be found as reprint @ amazon. I've had the book for almost 50 yrs., used so many times. Used patterns as is, changed sizes, changed settings, etc.!,etc. First made the sunbonnets when G., Mother taught me to hand applique when 9. She cut them free hand, every one doing a different activity. Wish I still had that quilt. Used an old flannel blanket as batt, old precale sheet as back. I'm just turned 77. Wow... long time ago & still making quilts.
