The notion of the Sun as "I am" is rather new astrology. Traditional astrology never mentions the Sun sign as who we are. The sun is the light, thanks to the Sun we can see things, so the Sun says about our consciousness, what we are aware of, and how we see the world, hence the connection with the Sun and sight or intelligence. Secondly, the Sun gives life to everything, so it is the energy that gives us life, what is our life motivation, what lights us up, and what is our consciously oriented action. Thirdly as the Sun was connected to the god's divine light, it is the divine part of our soul, what we are in here for. It is the central part of our life, what our soul wants to do. Nothing to do with our personality, but center of life. Last but not least, the Sun by being our conscious awareness, and link to the noble and honorable things associated with the Sun, is our moral spine - our rules and values that are important for us in life. In astrology, the Ascendant sign has ALWAYS been associated with the self ONLY. It is who we came on earth as, who we are, how we are, what personality we have, what is our vibe, temperament, flavor, everything directly connected to us. Modern astrologers tend to mix the Sun with the rising, saying "Oh the Sun is who you are (at the core) and the rising is your personality or character". No, that is not true. The rising is who you are, the Sun is much bigger than that.

I can see that. It defines the planet that rules your chart. If you are Mercury ruled you'd perceive the world through your mind, Jupiter will be optimistic and search for meaning, a solid belief system. Mars ruled people may see the world as a bit of a battlefield. Of course, the Sun and Moon matter here too, as well as the rest of the chart.

My moon sign is in Gemini...I'm always into some thing new...finding everything there is to know about a subject. I do tend to talk a lot when problems arise. More like sifting through them and seeing how I can manage the problems with the best if my ability. The major problem is finding someone who can bear my mouth lol. It's really not as bad as you think. Lol It just feels better to talk about what is going on instead of thinking them thru. Figuring out how I feel a lot is quite a challenge too

I am Aquarius sun, Taurus moon, Scorpio rising....

I used to be quite skeptical about astrology as i don't identify as my sun sign ( Capricorn) all that much as opposed to my moon and rising! I feel my Capricorn (conscious mind) does indicate who i aspire to be but being a moon Virgo I'm a massive overthinker, too OCD and have rather lower self esteem deep down. Now my Scorpio rising makes me look otherwise upon first impression to others, been told i come across mysterious and sexy/confident almost intimidating at times lol Astrology is really fascinating!

I have recently found out about rising signs from a KZread Astrologer like you named Maren Altman. After that, I have seen that it's the most accurate and also My Favorite too, to follow and understand myself each time better. It's more than just physical appearance and I feel it rules the chart :) I guess you are missing a video on "Capricorn Rising". BTW, what's your rising sign? :P Thanks a million.

I'm a scorpio rising with cancer sun and scorpio moon..

My sun is leo and my rising is Sagittarius (my moon is gemini and what you said about that was so accurate). I dont really fit the stereotypes leos have. Maybe that cause of the Sagittarius rising?? Idk anyway this videos was wonderful! I learned so much. Ty!
