I've said it before and I'll say it again. Pappagu's story showed us all that anything is possible in the One Piece world. And the reason why hypnotism is so powerful in the One Piece world is that it allows people to believe things they otherwise wouldn't be predisposed to believe. @@RandyTroy It's really fascinating you saying this because I just got the Color Walk Compendium book with a couple of "Author's Comments" from Oda on page 99 and also on page 103 where he basically proves that his older (boomer) generation wrong for their ways of negative thinking about being a manga artist "not being fun" unless it's a hobby and not a job, or working as an apprentice doesn't mean you're someone's "underling" so I can see how Oda's message about his generation and younger have become much more positive in their approach to their dreams and aspirations in life as a Xennial - onward.

This connects to a pet theory ive been concocting for awhile. I feel it was confirmed back in Roofpiece when Kaido identified Zoro as a Conqueror the moment he went Asura. Conqueror's Haki can manifest reality through willpower and this is why it is so scary.

I actually don’t think Usopp would be called “the sun god.” If anything he would be called “Wagomu no Kami.” The Rubber Band God. Iirc they called him a rubber band deity after Skypiea no? That would be perfect. Also, I think it would be perfect if someone in the story calls Luffy and his liberated Nika warriors, “Luffy & his Rubber Band.” We know music is a huge part of the series.

That actually would be perfect since Usopp and Luffy seem to be so coincidentally linked in may ways and forms since the beginning.

This reminds me, Saturn seemed a little relieved when Dorry and Broggy 'only' called Luffy their friend. As though them thinking any higher of him would be a problem for the WG. That's been spinning around in my head for a bit. My assumption was that if they believed Luffy was the Sun God, Luffy would somehow get stronger. But flipping that around, it might make them believe in themselves to an extent whereby they get stronger makes much more sense. I don't know if it's gonna be everyone manifesting Nika powers but I'm not opposed to that.

Love the vid. The point on Ussop (and by extension Shanks) what would be cooler and more thematic appropriately, would be of Ussop tried utter those words of "give me a future where I'm a brave warrior of the sea" *_and nothing happens_* THAT i think would be a much better portrayal of Ussop's growth than him sprouting white hair. It would also play into the idea of Bonney's age fruit Powers having limits based on knowledge OF the future. In Shank's case he's accepted the future for what it is therefore growing his lost arm wouldn't be possible; For Ussop, he's already LIVING his future as a brave warrior of the sea. He himself just hasn't realized or accepted it yet. Can even make it a joke where it doesn't work, and he and Bonney have a verbal spat on why that is and shenanigans ensue. The takeaway being Ussop is already a Brave warrior of the sea, he's just lying to himself😂.

Can we take a moment to appreciate Randy’s impeccable comedic references? Never thought I’d hear Stephen A Smith talking about ‘haki’.

Hmm I'd never considered the similarities between Hody's white form and Nika before and I quite like it! Also love the gen x Shanks mention ahaha, that's spot on! Luffy's techniques expend an abnormal amount of energy and was even likened to doping at enies lobby, 'shortening his lifespan'. And now we've seen his awakening drain him to the point that he resembles hody and his crew after their powerups busted. Will be curious to see if the robo offers insight on overcoming the extreme energy drain of freedom, if that's even possible. Bonney certainly couldn't maintain it for long, maybe she'll bounce back after eating the second banquet the giant chefs up!

Oh gosh, I have *a lot* of thoughts on this topic! First of all, I really appreciate your analysis having a sort of 'spritual' perspective on the story because I feel like common discourse can get so lost in the lore and power-scaling that it can be easy neglect sitting and digesting the material in the way Oda is maybe intending us to. Sitting with the way the story makes us feel is so crucial! When Bonney turned into Nika, I'll admit I had to sit with how I felt about it for a few days before telling my friends my thoughts. Now, I definitely love the idea and am rooting for Bonney (and personally, I have finally bought stock into Bonney becoming Luffy's apprentice). What I'm left with are many questions, so I'm just waiting for more information from Oda. I can simmer down my thoughts to these simple questions: ❔Is Bonney free because she is Nika? Or is Bonney Nika because she is free? Now, you can interchange 'free' with Nika-like, and I don't think Bonney is literally the Sun God Nika. *But*, what you've expressed in this video is exactly what I've been wondering. Is Bonney's ability to mimic Nika demonstrating a divine purpose for Bonney, or is this demonstrating that all who can believe it can achieve 'Nika' through freedom? I know many think the former, but I personally can't shake that the latter may be true. I think that the Bonney / Nika transformation wasn't only signifcant to her family's storyline, but it shows the audience what is possible for people who believe in themselves enough to achieve their own freedom - which in this case, to Bonney, looks like Nika. Maybe transforming into Nika is a template for Bonney to practice with until she achieves her own personalized free form, or maybe appearing in likeness to Nika is what all (devil fruit users? haki users?) look like once they've achieved their freedom. I also wonder about devil fruit awakenings. Could we say that Devil Fruit awakenings are the same as achieving freedom and just that freedom looks different for everyone? That doesn't feel right, but I'm still trying to work out that thought process. I haven't decided on the finer details on what this is going to look like in the story, but I love the idea that Nika or Joyboy aren't seen as holy because of some birthright divinity, but because they have achieved their freedom and became legends in their own right. I apologize if this doesn't make sense, I am trying my best to sort out my thoughts coherently. If we get to see more Nika like imagery from other characters, I would love to see their character designs. Also, love your NIK(A) shirt! And Luffy is likely the key to this freedom which is why the gorosei wanted that fruit for 800 years, why the fruit eluded them. And thanks about the shirt! I made it! It's part of our store.

You come up with some really good ideas, Randy. It's great, however, that somehow Oda has left the story open enough for many other good ideas to be feasible too, like from other YT One Piece content creators in their analysis and pontifications. I don't really know how, but even when the story comes to a close eventually, I think Oda wants/needs to maintain that so that we all can stay in that place at least a little bit and don't turn into Bonney in Saturn's hands.

You may be on to something here Randy. Pretty interesting theories. On a side note I low key want to see Bonney ask for a "Kaido like future" and temporarily turn into a warmongering dragon She would be invincible for about 5 minutes haha Also #SUNGODUSOPP

I keep thinking about how this ties into Dr. Hiraluk's comment about the "sickness of the heart" that everyone suffers from. So showing a cherry blossom bloom on a winter island was his way of showing people that "anything truly is possible". We keep making this point that because Bonney's journey wasn't AS HARD as Luffy, this is cheapened. I mean, sure, I would agree it wasn't AS HARD, but was it not still HARD? She was trapped in a church most of her life. She effectively lost her father--traveled by sea at the age of 10, likely fighting off other pirates and the marines. She made it to the new world before being taken out by Blackbeard, losing her crew of long-time friends. Then she still to break out of her captivity, stow away on a few ships and make her way to Vegapunk. She wasn't fighting Kaido, sure, but she was out there struggling, too. We just weren't there with her, so I feel like we aren't impacted by it as much.

The idea of the whole crew or many others being able to tap into the nika form can work with the right execution, it would have to be done in a way that would be a one epic combo attack b4 everyone turns back due to the stamina cost to maintain the nika form with everyone have a toon force version of attacks associated with their own freedom and luffy somehow being the most free since if everyone is the most free then no one is the most free. Im open to the idea of it. Even if its executed poorly it would be some fun fanservice at worst but i trust oda seeing how he handled bonney pretty well in 1119 I think it be dope if belo betty and bonney combo'd their fruits to make it happen, that be the cleanest way to have everyone go into their nika form on their own free will

I let you cook Captain. But I have to disagree with the theory for two big reasons. The first one is that Bonney’s Nika form was foreshadowed heavily through the backstory and is the culmination of both her and Kuma’s story. Kuma was a tragic figure who always tried to do good while trying to keep believing in Nika. And Bonney in a quest to find her father kept believing in Nika as a way to keep her hopes up despite everything going against her. It’s a perfect circle for their stories and I don’t think the same is true if someone like Zoro or Brook achieved a similar form. The second reason is that it just doesn’t fit the other Strawhats. They all have their own dreams, personalities and ways of fighting. Having them get a Nika form and the ability to manifest anything they want like Luffy just doesn’t fit them. I think Luffy’s G5 influence on them will be similar to what we’ve seen so far. Uncontrollable happiness and dancing and more comedic Tom & Jerry style reactions to things. I’m not completely opposed to the idea, but I think Oda has to do a lot to justify it. Also Randy, you’re teasing me with the Nika shirt. Is there any chance of that coming back or are we getting “It never existed”?

Really like this theory. I wonder if any Marines will be able to achieve it since they generally are instilled with boundaries? This also makes me look at the Devil Fruit users, Boa is an interesting one, because S-Snake uses cuteness and Oda stated (in a SBS i think) that a male would most likely use fear; so does that mean Boa's fruit is not just a 'Mero Mero' fruit. Seems like it's capable of encompassing the emotional essence of the user to petrify others that have no control over their own emotions. That makes me wonder if the user master's themselves, are they able to take advantage of all emotions? Because if you're fighting the 'Mero Mero' fruit user, if you're tied down by your emotions you will be petrified, but if you have mastery and are not tied down by your emotions, then you are truly free. So maybe their are other god fruits out there, hidden under different names?

Awesome, I think I'd be ok with this! But if Nika is actually the final form of haki, and everyone can become Nika, then what's the point of the Nika fruit? Could I have the chop chop fruit and achieve Nika status on my own? Or do other fruit users require the Nika Nika fruit user to unlock their latent Nika-haki? Ps: not sure how you meant it based on your phrasing, but just in case a PSA: Catholicism is a type of Christianity. Along with the possibility of lots of Nika transformations, there's something else I think may be coming. We've seen both Zunesha and Emet communicate using the "telepathy" speech bubbles that we've assumed meant the voice of all things. However, I'm not sure how many people have caught this, but the Five Elders telepathic communication uses the exact same speech bubbles that both Zunesha and Emet use. It seems like telepathic communication may have just been a normal thing during Joyboy's time, either through technology or a greater understanding of the voice of all things. We already know that both Luffy and Momo can use this to some degree, but I could see this coming into play fully during the final war. I had at first thought this might just be a way to communicate with the Grand Fleet and other allies during the final war, but now I'm wondering if Luffy will tap into this to encourage people to go into a Nika form on a large scale just like he encouraged Bonney to do so in chapter 1118.

You make a solid argument thematically and foreshadowing wise but having a nine tails chakra moment would be my least favourite moment in One Piece 😭 I would hate all the characters power development being reduced to all getting god Luffy powers instead of just being able to develop on their own merits. To me it would cheapen their development as well as gear 5. I’m not saying it won’t happen I just really hope it doesn’t, and unfortunately for me Randy has a very good track record with theories 😂

I'm all down for Luffy liberating everyone in his own way, but getting his gear 5/Nika power to many other individuals is too much in my opinion. The character is loosing his uniqueness! In the case of Bonney I can kinda understand it, since it is her power (although I know we haven't seen her eat that devil fruit) to be able to mimic others in a way... I just hope that Oda doesn't make the same mistake as Kishimoto with the end of Naruto Shippuden, where all of a sudden, everyone has Nine-tails cloak and can do rasenguns X(

Ever since we saw Doffy's Awakening, I had a mental image of Luffy making each of the Strawhats Rubber and the final attack on whichever the final boss is would be a massive Gum Gum Pistol from each of them all at once. This vid just doubled down on that idea for me. #SunGodUsopp

Current one piece is a very hot topic of discussion. There isnt really any hard rules for a good or bad story so ultimately whether youre for or against odas decision in recent arcs is all subjective. i have noticed odas style change over the years (likely because of him being a dad now) in regard to child characters taking more of the limelight. Back in the day child characters would be chimmney (cp9 saga) levels of relevant at most, but have now been elevated to vivi levels and as a non parent that doesnt like kids, i cant say im a fan. Especially when there have always been childlike characters like ussop, luffy and chopper for children to relate to. In regard to the everyone gets a nika power up. Cant say im a fan either. I dont personally need a toonforce like version of every strawhat especially when i feel like oda hasnt been utilising the concept very well with the character thats fits it best already (luffy). I've been comparing Luffys gear 5 to characters like spinel from steven universe (ironically inspired by luffy (before g5 was a thing) there is a way to make it seems both silly and intimidating, while g5 post kaido just feels like the same gags being used without much creativity or intimidation but thats a topic for another day. Back to the nika strawhats... Nika works for Luffy, a Nika power up has indeed been a thing throughtout the new world ie the examples in the video (hordys crew, minks), but they were just elements without the cartoon aspect. I dont need 9 more cartoon luffys with a dash of the strawhats personality and character designs thrown in, which based on how bonney was shown is what that would look like. What i want from the strawhats and have wanted since dressrosa is for them to learn some damn haki. The whole build up to the new world and post new world has been constantly showing how important haki is and yet, as we close in on the final few arcs, 60% of our main characters dont have it but gazelleman and batman do...Its become very clear that for one reason or another most of the strawhats are becoming less important and i'd be annoyed if oda just tried to wave off his neglect of them by just shoe horning in a nika power up and ignoring the whole battle mechanic hes spent 100s of chapters building up and never using for over half his main characters. imagine introducing nen in hunterXhunter but only Gon and killua could use it... I personally dont need luffy to buff ussop. I need Oda to stop bringing in random children and 50 new characters every arc (90% are irrelevent) taking up all the screentime from the actual characters that im attached to and for oda to actually make good on the Observation haki seed that he planted with usopp vs sugar. Robin training with the rev army for 2 year...learns 'some' fishman karate instead of haki >.> I did really like the whole nika thing in Wano. I thought it was perfect for luffy but seeing how its consumed the whole series and hasnt even been interesting imho post wano, has kind of soured my opinion on it, especially when every 3 pages its being rammed down your throat instead of focusing on other strawhats. Bit of a rant and im aware im in the minority about my opinions on current one piece but im also aware that that miniority isnt insiginificant. Outside the echo chambers of the famdom there are alot of people (and its growing) getting fed up with some of the things in the series (obsession with nika, ignoring strawhats, constant reusing of gags, CONSTANT over sexualisation of underage girls, over use of reaction shots, padding etc), so i know its not just a me thing. And tbh giving everyone an OP unearned power up and flooding (a bit of hyperbole) the series with younger characters to try and appeal to a younger demographic is very 'jumping the shark' like behaviour for any series. Im sure Usopp could be given nothing to do for the rest of the series until Luffy nikas him up a bit and he gets a child giant sidekick (lets call him little timmy) to help him in his sniper fight with van augur and majority of the fanbase will be chanting GODA when he wins and proclaims himself officially a brave warrior of the sea... But as i said at the start, this is very hot topic and their isnt a true right or wrong for story telling. This is just my honest insignificant opinion on it with all the grammatical error included. On a positive note, @11:28 that nico robin g5 art goes hard. edit: And just to add. The situation can be likened to Dragonball. I originally grew up with DBZ first and then i saw dragon ball later. But...had i watched Dragonball first i would have been quite annoyed with how DBZ essentially threw a lot of the characters i liked and grew up with in dragonball under the bus (i.e all the human characters) so that toriyama could focus on saiyans, remove martial arts tornaments almost completely (which was a major part of dragonball), powercrept itself into oblivion to the point 1 attack could blow up the planet. And ofc collecting the dragonballs was a mere afterthought in DBZ where as it was the main thing in the original dragon ball series. Not to mention the original main character dies and our new main is some whiney baby (gohan) that all our beloved characters now have to babysit (i do like gohan btw). So does that make DBZ bad and ruined dragonball? No not really, its just an evolution of the original series, but i can definitely imagine some OG dragonball fans feeling somesort of negative way when DBZ came along shoved everything that made the original dragonball great into a locker and kicked it down a hill. Thats kind of what i feel current two piece (past few years of one piece) is vs old school one piece (pre timeskip).

Great rant. I'm team DB>DBZ. I know the ideas here will be divisive if they happen. I made this video to be divisive. But I've also wanted the crew to get Haki, I wanted the whole crew to get ROKUSHIKI Oda fumbled there too. But if Gear 5 IS Haki then by the crew achieving it, they have reached Haki levels. It's crazy that Bonney has it at her age. Prior to 1119 she was not a character known to have Haki, but now she magically does and it just makes me think that this is what Kaido meant about haki

@@RandyTroy I dont put too much weight into anything kaido says or does. For a character that valued haki so much, he seemed to put a lot of effort into creating a devil fruit army lol. Nah but in all seriousness i do think there are more secrets to haki and considering weve known it as will power for so long, its not far fetched that haki can 'will' things to be. But call me old fashion, i personally want any powerups the strawhats get, to be earned by them, not gifted and i'd like it to be more unique to them rather than theu all get the same (nika) powerup with slight differences. I liked sanjis awakening and raid suit because thats his thing, zoro isnt getting the same kind of power up. And as boring as namis zuesed up attacks are (basically the same as pre zeus but with more damage...) it is a unique powerup to her. But its a wait and see game i guess. Also im the same. Team DB > DBZ even though i watched DBZ first which would sway most peoples bias. I just prefer the more adventurous elements and lack of powercreep that trivialises everything and everyone outside of a handful of characters and mechanics.
