I install the rear upper strut brace from SUMMIT!
Featuring a polished blade design bar and black sparkle painted ends, this rear strut brace makes the Ford Focus RS (or ST!) boot / trunk area really pop and look so much different than stock while also being rigid, joining the two strut towers together at the rear to brace when cornering and reducing chassis flex and body roll for ultimate stability!
I show the process of how to install the strut brace into my MK3 Ford Focus RS in this video - the process will be the same for all compatible models. The process is fairly simple - just 4 nuts and 4 bolts essentially, and can be done in a short space of time on your driveway with a basic tool set!
The rear upper strut brace from Summit / Swave for the Focus RS is made from 6061 forged aluminium with a special multi-layer tubular inner design which means that it is not only super strong but also much lighter than an equivalent steel brace!
Accessories are included in the form of new nuts, washers and extended bolts are included.
Taking the wheels off is a must for the install as you will need to access the stock nuts and studs from the wheel well and also will require an E7 e torx socket to get the studs out, but beyond that, all the tools required for installation are pretty standard!
The boot liner does need to be cut slightly for one of the bolts to go through so if this isn't something you want to do then be aware. You can do like I do and just cut an X so if you do go back to stock, it will be near invisible. Or you could fully cut away or entirely remove the liner - whatever you are into!
All in all, this is a very cool looking mod that should provide excellent performance by stiffening the chassis while also impressing folks at car meets!
