"SUMMERTIME" BluesBop plays his Hohner 280 Chromatic Harmonica
"SUMMERTIME" played on a custom Hohner 280 Chromatic Harmonica by BluesBop.
This vintage instrument features an acrylic comb hand made by the late great BILL ROMEL, a true craftsmen and a great guy.
This was also an experiment recording the harp with a lavalier mic (countryman B3) straight into the camera (Canon XF100). I was pretty pleased! I ran the back up track into channel 1 and recorded the harp on channel 2. You can barely see the single Bose headphone stuck in my right ear to monitor, and I was able to tweak the harp separately in post. Sweet! Big fun...

Spot on young man, you can certainly play. Enjoyed it.
He plays even hipper than he looks. He doesn't try to play too many notes. I like that.
Astounding ! One of best performance never heard with Chromatic Harmonica. The smoothness of your playing shows the melting point between the man and the instrument . This song is a treasure trove for a diatonic harmonica player approaching the chromatic one like me.The harmonic progression is never ordinary but genuine original and sometimes very artful ; a true pleasure listenin’ to it .Thank you Mr Jason Keene , a sincere greeting from Italy !
Oh believe me, there's a few notes in there I'd like to have deleted, but after all, it's jazz...work in progress...
Wow!! I have no words!
oh,oh,,,thanks mr keene
Marvellouso
Wow. Love it.
sweet indeed!
Okay, except for a bad note 2 minutes and 30 seconds in. Just kidding, Fr. Keene. Fucking, outrageously, incredibly, AMAZING.
I wanted to just hear the quality of a Hohner 280
Not only good, just great. Thanks for posting..
How wonderful! My husband and I were listening to this because I wanted to show him how good one of the 280s could sound. We both loved it. Wish I could make mine sound like that! Thanks for posting!
I enjoyed this. I just bought a Seydel Symphony. Now I am learning jazz on it. Thanks for sharing this.
