Makaha’s where I taught myself how to surf on a rented longboard. I’ve skated pretty much my whole life so I took to it pretty quickly. It’s also where I first snorkeled (out at Turtle Rock). You ever snorkel Turtle Rock, Koa? It’s so friggin’ majestic...all the turtles swimming around it in one direction. A couple years after that trip; my parents were out there without me- my dad was snorkeling TR by himself. He said a turtle swam right up to him at the surface. He could tell something was wrong with it and sure enough...it had some fishing line wrapped tightly around a fin. Luckily my dad was able to just unwind it without any tools. He said the turtle thanked him with it’s eyes and waved to him with said fin as it swam away!!! 🤙

Can you show people to the different ways to pop up on a surfboard please? I'm a beginner Surfer aggressively trying to move from soft-top to longboard and eventually down the fun shapes and hopefully one day not too far in the future shortboards but I know the pop-up is very different when doing it on shortboards. I have watch KZread videos on the chicken wing method and jumping from the thighs which is very hard and planting toes into the pad and stepping forward with the dominant and I just want to know what do most professional Surfers do and what do you like to do?
