I just saw one last fall for the first time in my life also in Gainesville!
Thank you for letting me see and hear the beautiful red bird I've seen the last few weeks. Been on this earth almost 62 years and I have never seen this kind of bird until this year. So now I know what it is!! What a treat!

Same here!! I have a beautiful pair at my back yard feeder for a couple weeks.
One of these showed up at my window two summers in a row, in West Harlem, New York City!
One just showed up on the tree in front of my patio and flew off. I used this video to bring him back. Beautiful ❤️🥰
I'm in eastern Oklahoma and these birds are quite numerous. I was just outside watching and listening to this gorgeous bird singing from tree tops. The video is fantastic and captures his song quite well.
Wow pretty little Bird... I Love it...His way is perfect.PSALM18,30
This is what I heard at 5 am today singing on my back porch. I had been hearing it in the morning and was thinking all this time it was a Robin ! He was so beautiful.
I have quite a few of these on my property, such a nice songbird.
I saw my first SummerTanager just this morning on my bike ride!! I was so happy I cried! I have only dreamed about seeing this elusive bird 😭 I only wish I could have photographed it while in flight!
Just had one of these in my front yard feeder! Just sat there snacking. I took tons of pictures. Gorgeous bird!
Excellent capture of this very beautiful bird and it's song.
So nice on an early spring day in vermont to visit Kentucky through these videos. wow
Just saw one at my house in South Carolina today! Beautiful red bird, solid red all over.
Excellent photography and audio!!!
What a beautiful sweet bird! Thank you for this video. It brightens my day.😊✝️❤️🕊️🙏
Saw one of these on the tree in the backyard, I live in southern Ontario and all we see around here is cardinals. Thought it was a cardinal at first but definitely was making this call.

Saw a few in Ottawa this week!
Marvelous capture of this very beautiful bird. Many thanks
We have a Summer Tanager near house home in rural Kentucky. First one I've ever seen. We heard him first and wondered what it was. We kept hearing a sharp, high-pitched "peep". Finally I saw one in a poplar tree near our house and he was making the "peep" sound. We're always excited to discover a new bird variety.
I spotted one of these today in Slidell Louisiana!
The "pit-tuck" is one of my favorite bird calls, although it's still a fun challenge to differentiate between Summer Tanager and American Robin. This past spring, I saw a pair of Summer Tanagers, bare eye view. The male was singing, and the female was trying to warn me off their territory. I acquiesced. My neighborhood park usually has Summer Tanagers and Indigo Buntings. Plus I found a Blue Grosbeak at the edge of a wooded area on our golf course. And of course, Northern Cardinals are abundant at any bird feeder. So, while a 20 warbler day is unlikely without leaving the neighborhood, you can get a 4-cardinal day, which is just as fun, in my humble opinion. My favorite plumage of the Summer Tanager is the 1st-year male "Hulkster", the mix between bright yellow and bright red is absolutely stunning. Thanks for the excellent species profile!!
so beautiful bird and fantastic video ."thanks for sharing *
Great video! There is one of these birds at a picnic area near me, and when I went there in the middle of the day it would land on my car and tap on my window. It took me forever to figure out what kind of bird it was, but this is definitely it. Thanks for putting this up!
How beautiful is this wonderful
Amazing clip! I hear the tanagers in the summer but cant see them because my eyesight is poor. So this clip means a lot!
Thanks for posting this video. I have a mating pair each year. They enjoy both mealworms (live) and suet. They have just arrived first week in May in Central VA. The staccato call was the first alert of the arrival. I first saw the female eating suet and thought her the most beautiful bird I have ever seen. As with many dimorphic birds, identifying the female can be challenging. The song is quite beautiful.
Just gorgeous and beautiful song!
Thankyou for the joy.. Forevermore I hope the rainforest are save with all peoples and animals for LIFE. Amen
I feel so happy I got to see a male summer tanager in Arizona. :)
Finally those summer tanager drove me nuts! Reason bird kept sit on kitchen window. Plus finally yellow tanager show up too.
Wonderful Birdsound!
I saw a summer Tanager the other day I thought it was a traditional male red cardinal but at a closer look I realized it was a summer Tanager it made me happy
Just saw this bird and his mate in my back yard in Southwest Missouri! I have never seen this bird before!
I look for my summer tanagers every year. They are my favorite. Saw one today.
oh im so glad you found the bird. to me it was swami commemorating a year from his birthday the evening i spent listening to his beautiful music, sitting close to him. the red bird was always my little reminder of him.. and a different redbird whos song is sweeter.. because he is in a sweeter place now. my little sacred message. thank you for showing me the red bird and it's enchanted song.
What a gantastic video. Thanks for posting.
My kids and l saw our first one total in North Louisiana. They may be common but it was neat for us. We’re not really bird watchers. We were checking fences and saw him and he talked to us just like this. Very cool! Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Just saw this bird across the road from us and went to look it up. I knew it was not a cardinal. Thanks for posting. Beautiful. Here in Louisville, Ky we see many cardinals but not many of these Rosy Redbirds. This was my first.
Great Shot, what a wonderful this bird is. Love the red color. Nature at its best. Best of luck.
Amazing nature! Thanks for sharing :-)
Just saw one in Cartagena, Colombia. Beautiful.
We saw this bird in Germantown TN. We live 1/8 of a mile from the Wolf River
what a beauty he is!
Viewed this lovely crimson bird as it fluttered in an aerial swoop and dive catching a butter yellow butterfly.
VERY NICE SOUND
I think I just saw this bird in Brooklyn, NY. My wife said she said she saw a cardinal, but it wasn't shaped like a cardinal.

We have these and also the Scarlet Tanager in central Virginia 😀
One has decidedly become my friend this spring. First one Ive ever seen. Everytime I venture outside he sweeps nearby ( within 7 feet ) tp greet me and doesnt leave until I do. Regardless of which door or where I venture too outdoor. We have many oak trees, a wood line to a young forest, several hickory and several clearings. Yet what it clearing has taken a shine too is a Mulberry tree. Its fruit has been ripening and I beleive that is what has drawn him in so close to the house. Ive yet to find the nesting area. Have not seen female or immature young ones, YET. I love my new little tag a long friend. He hasnt bothered with anyone else in the home. So I dont beleive its a defending the nest thing. He just seems to want to greet me , he appears more curious then anything else. Love it. This morming he perched right up on our back porch railing as I opened the door to let the morning air in. He just sat there looking at me and singing his song. He didnt leave til I left the open door to gather up anoter cup o coffee. I tell you what Ive Id had my phone each time he has done this no one would beleive it. Ive yet to photograph him. He is so friendly with me I thought perhaps he may had been someones pet parrot or something. I cant wait to see the young ones and female. Which I must have seen previously but took for granted it was just another grossbeak of sorts as we have had many of them. Also we have had Baltimore Orioles pass through heading north I beleive to nest early Spring for the past two years.
Just had one at my feeder for the first time. :)
Beautiful Bird & Lovely Filming :-)
Lol! My daughter played this video outside and a Tanager attacked her. Anger little bird.
On April 6, in southeast baltimore county, maryland I seen a red bird and I thought it was beautiful. I tried to look it up to see if I could find out what type of bird it was, and this is the closest description I’ve found of it. It was slightly smaller than an oriole bird and it did not look like a cardinal at all... it had to be a summer tanager. It was in a tree next to a small marsh off of the Chesapeake bay leading to bear creek...
So I thought I saw one of these today along walking along a path near a creek. It was hing in the trees but had a different single chirp.
Their rattle reminds me of someone winding an old-fashioned alarm clock.
very nice
Just saw one of these up close in the piney woods of east Texas. Only one I've ever seen in 33 years. I've been seeing a lot of new birds around here lately. Don't know why.
wonderful! Greetings Inge
Have one of these in our backyard and I have seen it flying around, but have yet to catch a good sight of one.

That would be a Scarlet Tanager. This is a Summer Tamager. There are others also. All depends on your geographic area.
Автору видео - благодарение и хорошего дня ! Хвала ТВОРЦУ , подарившему двуногим эту чудесную и прекрасную планету - ЗЕМЛЯ !..
very cool
Very goooooooooooooood.... ♪♫
In the first 24 seconds, he is in a Post Oak. Very good video!!!
nice bird clip
Just spotted my first one for the season here in southern Ohio.
I saw one of these and his mate this morning in a bush outside by window.
Great video -- nice Northern Parula vocalization caught in that one too?
we have a lot of these in kansas
Put out a bird bath if you want to attract them. They love water.
Thank you for the joy your posts bring to all of us! Could gladly kill the entire day watching all these. Is that a northern parula at :03? And a red-eyed vireo at the :27 mark? Cheers.

Me and my friend found one at Point Pelee National park. It was grabbing bees and eating them
beautiful. What's the range of this one?
Kind of sounded like it was almost saying "pretty bird" in tweet form
They sing like the American Robins.
So many different songs! How could you ever identify all of them?! (I’m trying to learn)
What kind of camera were you shooting with?
found a fledgling summer tanager late one summer. The greenish female was scolding me until i left. The male was absent. :(
Scarlet Tanager at approximately 0:47 to 0:50?
oba how do you tame it 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Hepatic Tanager has lesser Red Plumages?
I found a female and she couldn’t fly does anyone know how to help her
What is the bird I keep hearing in the back Ground over and over I hear that same sound where I’m camping and trying to figure out what bird it is

I think it's a Northern Parula.
it was a breeding male
That's a red Chinese chicken songbird
sounds exactly like the scarlet tanager.

FYI .... be careful about using a bird app song to attract birds. It can do the opposite. If you have a bird already around, using the app will make the "real" bird think it's territory has been taken over and will go elsewhere.
