I love watching your burgeoning family soooo much! It is so visible and tangible how deeply and completely you love Summer and Brock with your whole heart. I am noticing a behavior in Summer that is an early sign of a developing behavior that is going to be very troubling if it evolves as it normally does in other children (many many) I’ve seen engaging this action of behavior. Please understand I’m saying this with all the respect and support that I have for y’all because I wish you a life with as few issues as one can have. Summer seems to start hitting and slapping when she gets over excited and is possibly tired and nearing the end of an awake cycle, ie, she’s reached nap time. It’s crucial that when she begins her hitting or slapping that you correct her and tell her it’s not nice to hit and we don’t hit people, especially people we love. This will become a habitual default behavior in the blink of an eye and before you know it she will be hitting other children, playmates, etc. It is only another step or two before she associates it with frustration and anger and begins deliberately hitting as an aggression. This is not a criticism of your parenting, because I think you and Brock are wonderful, incredible parents. It’s a child behavior that seems innocent, and in a blink becomes violence and is really difficult to break. I’ve taught in many pre-K rooms and have watched it happen first hand. I would hate to see it happen to one of my favorite little families. I hope this came across with kindness because it’s being sent with only kindness and support. Love to the Davies family!!
