Summer Night On Hamburger Hill
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We got a call from a gentleman that had swamped his jeep in Kane Creek. It was late in the day so we decided to just take the JK in to get the person out. Mike and I loaded up and headed in. After leaving the gas station we got a call from the customer and he said the jeep was running and he had made it to the bottom of Hamburger Hill but was unsure of making it up, and another jeep had showed up and was also unsure of the climb up and out. We told them to wait there and we would be in to help them. We drove in from the top, which is the fastest way in to Hamburger Hill. Once there I drove both jeeps up the hill, we had to winch them up the wall but it went quickly. From there up it was just spotting them up the last few ledges and we were back to pavement. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Owner made the right call. Crawling this at nighttime fits within the definition of sketchy! I appreciate the fact that your available to rescue anyone under most conditions. What a team!

Night wheeling when you're properly set up with lights and people to spot you is sketchy. Night wheeling by yourself on trails like that is just stupid. He definitely made the right call.

Yeah, I’d be paying Rory to drive my keep out too
Knowing that you have reached your limits and calling for help is always the safer plan! Good on them for calling you out, and good on you for not making fun of them!
Now I need the 1997 story. Extra points if there's video.😂

Mike is phenomenal. He gets the great shots even while hooking, unhooking and winching. Spots or drives while filming, and even get the shots in sketchy lighting. Great save as always, I just know folks are glad when you arrive on scene. Stay safe and GOD bless
i can never get enough of Mike single handedly pulling those jeeps up the hill. I know I've seen him do it more than once now.
I always like watching Rory spotting. He gives very clear signals, both verbal and hand signals, and gives confidence inspiring feedback in real time. And that is in addition to getting them positioned exactly in the right spot.

Spotting is definitely a skill, both knowing the line and being able to communicate clearly with the driver.
Nice view during the day. Down right spooky at night. 😀😀😀
Love seeing that green, lush canyon. Excessive water has been good for them, even there is trail repairs ahead.
That landscape, like a dinosaur's going to pop around the corner, lol, cheers!
10:37 - Would be interesting to learn how these rock winch anchor points were installed. Weight / pull rating also.
I just love how Rory talks to the "Trail Geniuses"...hahaha so funny...(I gosta git me onez of them there snorkelezs..hahah)
I wouldn’t want to walk on some of trails you drive on !!! 🤣 Great recovery 👍
As Mike said.... "Nicely done !" 👍🏻
Nothing wrong with the videowork or recovery. Everybody went home safely and ontop of that we got to see it too :)
Not only is the Mater one of the toughest wreckers out there but with Rory's experience he's a shoe in for first place in the Off Road Wrecker games. Excellent video..as usual Mike.
I love watching you folks because you're real about things. What you see is what you get, scars and all. Oh, and tell Mike it's the "Blair Winch Project."

Winner! Love that.
i do so enjoy riding along in my recliner🤪
A twofer in the dark up "the hill" and probably a masterclass on getting up it for the owners. The video shows what it's really like there at night. Well done.
I suspect the windshield replacement shop in Moab stays pretty busy!
You guys did a great job filming and recovering!

agree. i loved the smile. I think it will be even bigger when you win the wrecker games.
I appreciate Mike using his tiny phone light to provide some visibility for us viewers. Also "Blair Winch Project" lmao.
The extra-credit scenes are awesome. I learn a lot from ALL of these videos, thanks guys!
Tough enough in the day time but at night! Bravo !!
Starry, search night. If I had been able to see how close you were to the edge, I would have been scared!
Talk about a cliff hanger video, I was trying to remind myself they were going to be okay because I’m watching their video. 😅 Great job Rory and Mike. ❤️🙏🙏👍👍❤️
You're the man Rory Mat doesn't have a chance locking forward to you smashing the Toetruck games
This little evening ride is my new definition of SKETCHY!! Thanks for taking us along....
Man you guys have some adventures, glad it all went well and thanks for no crappy music !

I agree about the "no crappy music." And, while we're at it, none of that endless chopping from one camera angle to another.
Us armchair offroaders really appreciate you taking us along with you! You guys will be our eyes at the games. Can't wait thanx!
Awesome job! Nice that these fellows had some decent tires at least. Seems like often they're on highway tread.
Challenging in the daylight and in darkness only an expert should undertake it. Job well done!
I look forward to every episode!! thanks for filming!
it's a gorgeous trail nice!
Rory sir, you are a surgeon with throttle, brake, and traction! It is so nice to watch someone with your skills. Manual transmissions are expert-level drivers and above. And right there at 10:28 in the video is why light bars are for malls only. Just as one needs to see to put tires on an obstacle, all goes dark with a light bar. Nicely done.
Rory You Mike and Sean are simply the best off road recovery guys in Utah ‼️‼️
Of all the recovery drivers Rory has the best finesse..He knows just how to get it done with minimal impact on equipment..That is an Art and a Talent..All you guys are awesome..You all have your forte..:)
Rory cruises along those trails like it’s the boulevard and others are inching using spotters
It's all in a day's work to you but heart stopping to some of us pal, thanks for taking the time to film what you could 👍
These guys made the right call getting help from Rory and Mike. Rory definitely needs more lighting on the vehicles for these night recovery's and a light for the camera would be nice too. Good job getting them out!
Man, this channel has grown. Deservingly.
Go Trail Mater! God Bless
Thanks for showing this old recovery. It gives me hope that it will get warm again someday. 😉
you guys are extremely nice to people who are super vulnerable after making multiple bad decisions. Great job. You never scold them or scare them, you just get them out of a bad spot. Angels among us!

Theoretically, roarry wouldnt know he could rescue them if he didn't also once make them "man"I mean bad decisions 😇
I really appreciate that Mike scans the surrounding areas !!
I live in California but Utah is fascinating state with all the beautiful view of mother natural, thank you for sharing every adventure!!
The Moab rescue team demonstrate, yet again, how difficult these rescues are and they make it look easy as a team. And that light bar on the JK simulates daytime pretty well!!
Good luck this weekend. Not that you need it 😂 I got you for the win !!!! Trail Mater all the way !!!!!!
Nice recovery as usual. You say about the lighting not being very good Well I’m 4,800 miles away from you and I can still see you. 😂😂😂😂 Good luck on the Wrecker Games tomorrow. All the best from the Uk 🇬🇧
Great video. Your knowledge and execution of your work is very impressive. Way better than Matt, if I must be honest. I hope you win the games as you deserve it. Keep the great content coming. Best to you and all yours!
Great Rescue Rory and Mike. The day time looked scary, but the nite time 😳😱! Rory, you make it look so easy ! Those too Jeep wouldn’t have made it on their own !🤙😎
Good pacing. The long detailed shots on the way in, gave good context to the partial patchy pieces on the way out. Good luck at the wrecker games! It'll be interesting to see who comes in second and third, cause you got this!! Unnecessary front digs for the win!! Great video DC
This is what you do best, make the customer learn and increase their confidence and abilities.
No need to apologize for the night filming. Anybody that thinks they could do better is delusional. If I were riding with you guys on that trail I would definitely need clean underwear. Keep sharing and looking forward to the wrecker games
Wow, a great ride along and recovery in the dark to go along with the ddventure, what a trip, all turned out fine, That Hamburger hill does look intimidating
Awesome job, I don't blame those guys for not wanting to drive it, That would have scared the socks off me. Thank you for sharing, Mike you did a good job
what a trusty hand that put faith back in someone's self . GOOD JOB AND .MAY GOD REWARD YOU MEN
Great recovery guys. Rory, Is there a video or series of your JK build, I cannot seem to find it .
Given the night dark conditions, the recording was just fine. No doubt, that trail has seen far better days. Well Done. Sadly though, no Big Blocks were involved!

Yeah Jeeps just sound so wimpy compared to a Chevy Big Block!
As you pointed out, lights, LIGHTS, LIGHTS. Matt is about to make this very same mistake with his wrecker. Sorry Matt.
Sandstone ledges in the dark. --- What a combo. ---
That looks like a really challenging hill. The customer at least knew his limits, especially after dealing with the problems at Cane Creek earlier. Night time videos don't really show much but taking that in consideration good video. Thanks for sharing.
You men are some the most courageous people I have know of. doing this work in the dark as you do. I almost can't watch. I pray triple the blessings to you and yours. The LORD most certainly guarding over you men.
Rory & Mike so breathtakingly crazy....bless you both and sweet Shawn even if not in this video!
What a driver you are , Rory . I love watching you make any thing you drive look great .
Moab couldn't be supported better than what these three guys do. Love the videos and that area....Hamburger Hill is too fun on a dirt bike! Hope you beat Matt at the Wrecker Games this weekend!
Now that was one scary video. Thanks for posting. You guys are amazing. And in the dark too. 🇨🇦
I thought the lighting as awesome. It was like a si-fi movie. And yes it did look scary at times. Another rescue for the books. Have a nice day.
Another awesome recovery, people can learn so much about wheeling, rock crawling and recoveries by watching your channel
That is one gnarly trail!!!
That was some serious work. Thanks for sharing the video, Rory. I learn from your shared experiences. Keep going.
I love to watch a night recovery. Well done, guys, very entertaining
Man Rory! I wouldn't go up/down something like that for all the money in the world. My hat is off to you Rory for your incredible skills.
I luv your content Rory, please don't ever stop doing what u do!
Night filming with phones and GoPros is not easy, but you filmed it well, and it was interesting. I'd like to see more like this.
Nicely done 👍
Nice video, you guys are awesome. Stay safe
The guy is brilliant. Calls Rory and gets rock crawling school.
I am always amazed how Rory and the crew make this look so easy. Awesome guys love your videos 👍
Hamburger Hill gives me a stomach ache, that hill is no joke! Great job. Happy Trails 👣 good luck this week.
Kudos to the owner for knowing his limitations. So many times people “just do it” and it goes badly. Rory, you always crack me up with the way you look at situations. Keep it coming.
0:40 that "shuuut up" totally made my day hahaha thanks
Nice work supporting the customer. He was in a rough spot and really needed you. And, you were there for him... no questions asked. He felt confident enough in your abilities to ask you to drive. That says a lot. Again, nice bit of work in the dark, no less.
Ever evolving trails… Most people don’t even understand how quickly a trail can change in a season. From better to worse, and from worse to better even… Shout out from So. Oregon
What a beautiful and sketchy trail. Glad you were able to safely get the customer home in the dark!! 👍🏻🎯🎯👍🏻
This was not aromantic night, but of dim lights and much carefulness-LOL Got er done. Love your videos.
Awesome video, I think that the filming was excellent. We can see exactly what is going on and it is like being there with you guys. Personally I do not like it when the recoveries are like a Hollywood film set! I really appreciate you guys taking us along , I am getting to see places that I never knew existed. Thank you Rory and thank you Mike and definitely thumbs UP!! 👍👍💯💯
Always amazing, always interesting. Thanks for taking us all along!
The moon in the background while coming down hamburger hill is awesome!!!
I know what you mean about the trails drastically changing over time. I did most of the trails around Moab in the 80s and 90s. Went back a couple of years ago and was shocked at how much harder they have gotten since I was last there. I always did Poison Spider Mesa in a stock Cherokee or Pathfinder, and liked taking family and friends because it was a beautiful drive and just scary enough that they had fun. Now that first hill is nothing like it was back then, as well as the waterfall. All of the dirt has been eroded away, leaving large steps instead of the old dirt road. I went back with a modified Sequoia and would have had no problem in the 90s. It's a bit different now.
Hi guys, that’s some countryside there. I know you have a job to do and all your concentration must be on the trail, but after all the years working there, it must be hard to not just look around and saying wow. Thanks for sharing your work with us
I'd just like to say the driving ability of rory is undeniable to drive a completely unfamiliar vehicle up a trail like that and make it look easy
Great work as always guys. Best in the business.
Felt like this one needed a "these are the lessons you should learn from this" as part of the closer. Crawling alone? Didn't know the trails? Dearth of lights?
Man gettin those other 2 vehicles UP and at night has my heart racing!!! Wow!
great view, almost reminds me of the roads in India lol
Great job getting those folks out. 👍
I am always impressed at the terrain Jeeps can cross. Thankfully there is a team that can get you out if you end up somewhere like this.
Rory you guys are fearless doing that recovery at night going up Hamburger Hill which had to be sketchy being close to the edge. I am looking forward to seeing videos from the wrecker games
I can't say as I blame the guy for feeling a bit overwhelmed. That is some very rugged country and in the dark it's even more intimidating!!! You and Mike did a great job of getting them out!!!
Had me at the edge of my seat-Good driving
