Summer Movie Auction
Ойын-сауық
Andrew proposes a new kind of draft: an auction and nobody quite follows. After careful explanation and examples, the rest of AN EGG is on board to draft the biggest box office winners of the summer. Who will come out on top with the biggest bank, who will be the box office bomb, and who is seeing both parts of that Kevin Costner movie?

Excuse me, while I have this pinned, and also if this hasn't already been suggested, I noticed Furiosa grossed 140M on a budget of 168M, will movies with a negative gross be deducted from final totals?

I wouldn't be surprised if it had one of the better $/point values, but overall it's probably not going to add more than 10, maybe 15 million which is going to get dwarfed by the 5-10 movies that get more than 100 million. It also has probably the highest barrier to entry of all films. That being said I did just watch it and it was an absolute banger

Of the once currently released, that has the lowest ROI at 1,75 million gross per auction point. So as it stands, it is the worst pick.
33:41 "Apple love a good moon movie." At any other point in history, this assortment of words would make people think you were having a stroke 😂
This is a fantastic format please do this again for literally anything
I'm spending the whole time laughing about how badly they did they layout for this... They could just moved the movies down to start from row 4 so they could put the bids right next to the movie they were bidding for under the right person... 😆
You know they could've set this up so the movie title rows are aligned with their point value rows and then they wouldn't have to write the names next to title. Also I love this video.

That was my immediate thought too. And Andrew’s 91 points was also making me anxious no one would catch it
This was 100% simple and understandable to anyone who has a remote grasp of what an “auction” is, and the first 2 sentences of explanation made it abundantly clear what was happening.

Every Monday when the box office numbers come out, I just come back here and make a lil note for myself😂

It would have to do 560 million to tie IF for best return on investment as it stands right now. And IF is still making more money.
Love it, I’d suggest freezing the lines with names and points so they can still be seen once you start scrolling down for the later picks
Gavin has this, Inside out 2 is on it's way to being the biggest animated film domestically of all time with 650M and bad boys continue to do well. The last minions film did 369M so Despicable Me 4 will do about the same and Deadpool and Wolverine while big is still r-rated so it can't reach the same heights.
Another stellar supplemental. I can't subscribe every month but did for the first couple drafts and they've been great, and this is a fantastic followup to those.
oh I am so excited to see more supplementals on the YT! ;o; thank you guys for these
I love this. This was essentially my job for months. I worked at a movie theater that served food and drinks and as a manager it was my job to write a schedule and staff movies. Well without knowing how well the movie would do i had to do research and guess. Obviously tickets sales the day or two before premier helped but the weeks leading up to it I had no idea. It was really fun and I got pretty good at it after awhile.

DEFINITELY want more auctions. Up there with drafts for entertainment
Cant wait to see how this turns out! Another stellar reason for wishing summer was over already. Next time in the B column they should put the amount that the movie was so sold for next to the name (Geoff - 4, etc.). Better for statistics and for double-checking maths
What a great concept. Can't wait to see how this ends.
This is the first time in my life I'm excited for summer to end. I can't wait to see the results of this!
Minor nitpick: @26:03 not sure if anyone caught it, but Eric outbid Nick on Janet Planet (2 to Nick's 1), and yet Nick was charged 2 points instead of Eric. Eric's name was written down next to the movie, but it was on Nick's tab
Gavin taking Inside Out 2 was a fantastic move
Andrew saying "going one" instead of "going once" was the only bad thing about this.
More auctions this is awesome
I think a way to make this even more interesting would be to order the films by budget with higher budgets towards the end. Auctions always end with the higher-end products last.
What a great episode. Like Geoff, I'm never really excited about any draft but by the end of the episode I'm always so invested in it. I'm hoping Gavin wins because of his leftover draft money.
Im excited to see the results after summer! It'd be fun to see who had the worst purchases as a whole, and the single worst purchase! I have a feeling it'll be Geoff's cowboy movie 😝
seeing eric bidding high for furiosa knowing its box office performance is hilarious.
You guys should do this when all the Oscar movies release as well. Great content!
The only part about this that I don't like is having to wait until October to know the results! Please make more Auctions!
Speaking of Furiosa, one of the war boys was actually named "Pissboy" in the credits. Sounds like someone's trying to schmooze in on Andrew's territory.
This video is so funny! Love it
Gavin must be really happy with the Inside Out 2 purchase.
I would love for yall to do this again in december for all announced movies for next year. Would probably need more points to spend since there'd be more to spend on but it would be cool
I really hope this becomes a regular edition 4 times a year, id even track the runnings if they're were updates
Hey I helped buy watching The Watchers! I did only pay 5 bucks for the ticket but I'm doing my part!
The big name movies in a sea of stuff they'd only have a remote interest in bidding on based on who's in it or who's directing it makes it such a wild card. More importantly, Untitled newline horror
I saw Kinda Funny do something similar with this with video games, except instead of money made they used the metacritic score, like the average. I don't know if yall would want to do that type of thing too but it's a good idea, I really like this format
This would have been awesome last year with Barbenheimer going on. Wouldve been hilarious.
The gavel tap tap tap is perfect
Auction format is so fun. My fantasy league switched to auction a few years ago and I was opposed at first but I prefer it now.
They listen changed its title to afraid which I think is a better title and the poster looks interesting
Geoff saying "The Visit" was an "Awesome Movie," when it is legitimately one of the worst movies EVER made, floored me.
This is the first time i've ever stared at a spreadsheet with my hands over my mouth in shock
Real talk, Alien Romulus is being made by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead remake, Don't Breathe) on a budget and all practically, trying to capture the horror of the original, that's going to be a sleeper hit. It's got that horror audience rumbling for it tbh.

The movie industry is bizarre. Beverly Hills Cop, Harold and The Purple Crayon, Bad Boys, Beetlejuice, The Crow, another Alien movie, Twisters ... all movies that are remakes or sequels of OLD movies/shows.
