Hello all, welcome back to my weekly equestrian vlog! I know you guys love to see my routines and how I run the barn and I haven't done a barn routine vlog in awhile so I thought I would do one for my summer morning routine doing feeding, turnout and chores!!

I thought the cold made it difficult to do barn chores but now this crazy heat makes it worse. You are definitely an inspiration with all of the hard work you do to care for the horses.

I’m catching up with your videos. Oh my gosh, you are so efficient and competent! I love how you do your work, I’ve boarded at so many barns where things do not get done correctly and it’s so refreshing to see you run your day and get through your chores safely, with intelligence, skill and experience handling the horses! It doesn’t hurt that your barn is beautiful also; love the hay hatches, the step down into the stalls with rubber mats that look seamless, the mud management material around the gates, good quality tools ie wheelbarrow, corn broom, etc - you guys really know what you’re doing 💗. Goals - sigh! Thanks for sharing another great video 🤗 PS I didn’t know you’re supposed to wait an hour to feed after giving UlcerGuard. Dang I may have wasted $$$…!

Wow, thank you so much for your kind words!!!!!! Makes my heart want to explode 😍🥰 my vet just told me to wait an hour after giving ulcergard so it can effectively coat the stomach to reduce and prevent ulcers😬

May I ask also, did you do Equine Management or some such academic training? Or were your skills just learned on the job or through owning your own horses? I only ask because I didn’t grow up around horses so I’m kind of self taught by watching many others, and reading British Horse Society and Pony Club manuals but everything you do aligns with the text books which is awesome! Hope you don’t mind me asking!

I’m self taught! I grew up with horses and have now had a couple of great trainers that really guided me. The pony club stuff really helped me!! I really just tried to learn to be efficient, but also do things in an order that was most effective for horses. I’ve also seen some “prettier” barns than mine but IMO they can put cleaning and appearances above what’s best for the horses. I.E. we sweep because it creates a lot less dust for the horses to have to breathe in rather than blowing w a leaf blower even though it takes longer and is more work!

There is a few hours overnight that they are without hay - they get hay at night check before bed and then until I start the AM routine they are hopefully resting!

What type of shavings do you use?

Great question!! We use premium pine shavings. The bigger the flake the better in my opinion!
