Thanks so much. I should have added that the night before he passed, he gave her his anniversary gift of an emerald earring and necklace. He passed in his sleep that night. So they had that moment together.

I love the bangs too but they are going to take some upkeep! I am going to have to learn to cut them in -between my hair appointments are only wear them for a week or so. But it is a fun change. Thank you for your encouragement. I feel like I am following you in decor this season....lemons were last month for you and a little coastal will be next month for me. Thank you Lucy...it was actually their 70th! We did celebrate at my home for their 50th. We had a band and it was catered and we had a pastor from our church renew their vows. My father was on dialysis at the time of their 70th, which meant he was living on borrowed time.

Very pleasing decor ! Love your bangs…. Very youthful !!

Hi Debbie! That’s a cute dress and I love those earrings. My mom had a plate rack on her range hood. It was that rail molding. I don’t know if she asked the contractor to attach that to it or if it came with the hood. Oh my gosh the contractor that did my kitchen didn’t know what a banquette was. 😩 I love the contrast in those plates with the green and white. They are very pretty. The wreath looks great with those plates and those lavender flowers. Those lemons are a cute option as well. I love those cabinets with the glass doors. Those glasses are all lovely. I love the idea of collecting those cute mugs.That’s such a same about your dad and the party. That’s horrible. 😢 I love the idea of putting those plates out on that silver stand with the cloche. They look so nice with those beautiful measuring spoons. They definitely are both useful and a statement piece for sure. It looks great with that tray with those lemons, towels as well as those pot holders. I love hydrangeas and that’s a cute casserole dish. I love your Pfaltzgraff. I wish I had of kept things that I had bought over the years. I donated them and sold them, or gave them away, do to lack of storage space. Everything that I bought I loved. I literally wouldn’t buy anything unless I had a place for it, got rid of something else or I couldn’t get it off of my mind. I love those flamingos. 😊 Strawberry cakes are my favorite. My mom used to buy a bakery cake for my birthday. But, she would also make me a strawberry cake. I loved those box cakes with pink frosting. 🙃 Although, she was a great cook and did win a trip to Ireland as a teen from 4-H for something she made. But, sadly she had to have her appendix removed and didn’t get to go. I love that arrangement in that pitcher. No you didn’t over do it at all. It’s beautiful. That’s a lovely area with the soap and towels. ❤️

Thank you Brenda. Yes, it was horrible. However, we all thought how awful it would have been for him to have traveled to our vacation rental and passed during the celebration weekend. My mom never got over losing him. She lasted 4 more years which I think is more than many who have been married so long, but she was rarely happy and though she was not really ill, she managed to just give up. The beautiful thing was their real anniversary was the night he was home and so he had bought her emeralds and gave them to her that evening before he went to bed. He passed in his sleep.

Oh my gosh. That is so sweet. I’m sure that gives you some sort of solace to know that your dad was able to give that beautiful jewelry to your mom on their anniversary. 💕 Yea, it’s so sad when they mourn for their loved ones and lose their will to live. You’re such a doll. I have no doubt how special your parents must have been. Great role models, no doubt. My mom was the same way. She wouldn’t take my dads name off of their bank accounts. She would get upset whenever I was doing her paperwork (such as the Homestead rebate) and I’d check the box “widowed”. She always wore her wedding ring. She lived 13 years after his passing. It was also bittersweet since she retired one year before he passed. He used to say that the school where she worked was her life. Which it was. He always wanted her to retire sooner. He died of mesothelioma in 2007. All he was worried about was treating “his three girls” to dinner for Mother’s Day and Roses for their wedding anniversary. My dad actually flatlined in 1991 at the age of 59. He had a back injury and was prescribed steroids. The steroids thickened his blood and made it clot, causing a heart attack. It was the day of my settlement on my first home. He told me that he heard one of the doctors working on him in the ER say to him, “C’mon back man, you don’t want to go that way.” Then he said that he saw Jesus and he applied crimson blood on him in the sign of the cross. This was a year before my wedding. So when he was told at the age of 77 that he had days to live he was terrified. I’ve never seen my strong 6’3 Marine (who fought in the Korean War) so scared. Then, I reminded him of his prior experience. I told him, “Da, you were already there.”I called him “Da” and he called me “Sharpie”. He looked up as if he were really pondering the situation. Then he said, “Oooh yeah.” So the next day when I asked him if he were scared, he said, “I was Bren, but not anymore.” God used his near death experience in 1991 to bring comfort to him during his passing in 2007. So much more God winks to this story. But, I’ll leave it there, for now. ❤️

I actually did something else you will see later this week. My napkins were somewhere else in the kitchen and we did use the dish for fresh fruit over the weekend but napkins would probably fit it nicely!

Johanna, I looked all over amazon for one to link without success. Mine was from Pier One. I suppose you may find something at Pottery Barn? But my best suggestion is to keep your eyes peeled at your local homegoods and tjmaxx.
