People are still buying psvr2 and the game library is still getting bigger, over 200 games, I would say 70% of them out do other platforms, why are people so down on a amazing bit of kit that keeps getting better with every good game that comes out. Shame on you.

Don't shoot the messenger, I am just reporting the facts and news. VR studio closures and limited sales data reporting are never good signs. As well as limited internal support with no new exclusives announced thus far. Your 70% figure would be far more enticing if it were true. Unfortunately, with a library of over 200 games there are only around 11 PSVR2 exclusives which works out to around 6% (if I'm being generous) ... not 30% and let's not mention the limited backwards compatability with the prior generation. Love your enthusiasm and If it makes you feel better I want to be wrong. I want the PSVR2 to be a huge success because competition breeds innovation but the recent news is painting a bleak picture.

Do you own or play on psvr2? Games coming cross platform isnt, as I see it, a bad thing. Stand alone version are stripped way back, and if you want the high end quality, its the cheapest option for the highest polish. Dont even get me started on this mythical £1000 pc setup that turns out to be a second hand legos set with no instruction, comparing to out of the box brand new plug and play. If you watch Bloomberks video stats the show unit sales for both quest headsets during the holiday season, at the time quest2 was $200 with an added $50 cash back. Not only this but in another of their articles says quest 2 outselling quest 3 4:1, which according to their stats placed psvr2 well ahead of quest 3. At the end of the day all 3 systems have advantages and disadvantages, personally psvr2 gets my vote for cost, quality games catalogue, and features.

I don't own a PSVR2 but I have experienced it on a few occasions and there is no denying that a standalone VR kit with the similar power of a cell phone doesn't compete in terms of performance and features VS a system specifically tailored to the power of the PS5. I don't believe anyone would argue otherwise, but a few factors are severely limiting the PSVR2's potential. Exclusives Sony themselves know the system selling power of game exclusivity. For the last few years they have dominated Xbox because their high quality, first party studio output. Xbox had to spend multi-millions in studio acquisitions just to keep up. With that prior knowledge you would think they would utilize the same strategy to give their VR hardware a chance to thrive but Meta is the one landing the exclusivity for large IP and further reports last week state addition internal funding for Sony's VR Studios and VR projects have been cut. There were reportedly 2 PSVR2 exclusives in the works but they may now no longer see the light of day due to the cuts and they aren't even bringing their own VR mascott Astrobot upto the new hardware. Price/Sales Here in Canada the 512gb Meta Quest 3 is $850 (I'm too cheap to even buy this one, I went with the 128gb for $650). You can pull it out of the box and instantly play a game anywhere. Here, the PSVR2 is $750 to purchase without any gaming bundles. The problem is, you pull it of the box and it's a very cool sleeping mask. I would additionally have to buy $580 PS5 or an upcoming $60.00 adaptor and loose half of the PSVR2's features just to play it on my PC. The balance of those options could be a part of the reason why Sony cut production of the units, cut funding, cut studios and is not reporting their sales figures. It's not the best method but Amazon always releases their sales figures and if you look back Meta Quest 3 continually outsells the PSVR2. Matteo311 did a comparison of the Amazon sales data and reported that across the Christmas holiday PSVR2 sold 1,000 units for the base and unit and around another 1,000 with Horizon bundle. Whereas the Quest 3 base model had 20,000 sales in the same time period. The Quest 2 actually significantly outperformed both in the same period. It's a very limited sample so I take that all with a grain of salt but without official Sony reports we can never know for sure. In my eyes there is only 1 reason why they wouldn't actually release the figures... In all it makes me sad because I want a thriving and competitive market to push the VR space forward but with Sonys history of support for external hardware like the Vita along with what I reported in the video AND the newest cuts last week ... I'm not super optimistic for the future of the PSVR2.

@@dbawner With Red storm saying they are pulling out of vr development after the poor sales from their Assassins Creed title, not too sure on stand alone, perhaps most Quest headsets are being used for pc. Any previous exclusives have been Quest 2 compatible too. Hopefully they will up their game with new releases. Just wondering when buying your set did you also have to buy comfort mods and battery packs, and if you include these. Matteo has always been a neigh sayer when it comes to Sony's system being his least favourite headset and is a quest ambassador. So would think wouldn't be a totally unbiased view. Yes pc has the edge with mods such as uevr but that's not at the moment bringing new games to the format, where as Sony is funding third party games across all platforms such as Legendary Tales from Urban Wolfe, or the RE games. They've also put 8 games on PS+ over there last couple of weeks, hardly giving up on vr but starting to encourage it on the PS5. As for exclusives who says they need to be first party. London Studios was not solely vr , they produced on one game and a tech demo for psvr, nor was it working on a vr project. Firesprite had a similar working background, the third being Naughty Dog with no vr games. Much of the article is pure speculation and opinion, while saying vr as a whole is just a gimmick. If you truely want vr to expand and grow, why parrot this so called "news" article?
