Yeah! Last year my counselors didn't care what time we showered as long as we didnt wake the younger kids by the bathroom. My friends and I prefer later showers because being nice and clean before you go to bed is just *chefs kiss*

Yessss! Always be nice to your counsellor. They have to deal with lots of kids and it’s just easier for them if you are kind and cooperative! I’m always nice to the counsellors, and I have been told multiple times by them that I am their favourite camper.

For me they just had us go whenever we want after dinner, there wasn’t a time limit but there was a huge wait so you still had to be fast

Dang at the camp I’m going to, we have 2 hours of free time a day which means you could take a pretty long shower.

if you’re really embarrassed about it just say your hair reacts really badly to chlorine, i told everyone my hair falls out when i get in chlorinated pools and they let me sit on the edge, and i got tan while doing it

Gacha Taryn Hahaha that was me last year. You’ll make friends in no time, just find things you have in common. Often you’ll find someone in the same position and you can talk to them. If not, just approach people. 9/10 times they’ll be nice and you can talk if not there are lots of people at camps. You’ll be fine :) Hope you have fun x

TO ALL THE SCARED CAMPERS!!!! You will make friends! My main tip is to stick with your bunk mates for the first bit until you feel comfortable! Eat meals with them and you can even sign up for activities with them if you are scared. I promise you there will be a few (if not 50%) new campers in your cabin that are going through the same thing. If anyone cares I have a google doc with an amazing packing list complete with everything and your kitchen sink you can think of... if you want it let me know!

Our showers were 5 minutes long and the whole camp except for the counselors lounge had only cold water. So cold showers for two weeks straight.

I have RBF it's so bad! When I try to do a slight smile at someone, it looks like I want to murder them.

I am glad you mentioned the whole positive attitude thing because me and my cousin went to a new camp last year and we went in with a bad attitude and for the first day we were miserable. Then we realized that your at camp WHO CARES?! and most likely your not gonna see many of those people again and if your fun with those people, when you see them again you'll have good memories with each other.

summer camp is my favorite time of the year! i’m sure you’ll love it!

The last camp I went to (4-H camp) We could take as long showers as we wanted but all the showers were occupied and by the time I got in it was freezing, so what I did was wake up at 4:30am. The showers were so hot! And I got some free time! Totally worth waking up early!!

I go to a camp in michigan for a week. Whenever its freetime the cabins are usually locked. I'm sure its like this at most camps but at mine ur not aloud to take cellphones or any other electronics(tables,mp3,ECT.) Imma bring a video cammera tho cuz apparently those r aloud.soo..imma video tape and journal about my week this year.

I've been going to camp for 9 yrs (since I was 5) and I agree with EVERY ONE of her points. she is completely right. I've only watched a few of her vids but she mentions in one of them that you should make friends with the boys, and YES it's very important because (especially later in life ) boys will always be there ......so you just gotta get used to them and of coarse, not the jerks but a lot of boys are nice and fun to hang out with. that's just my thoughts on this video:)

the camp I go to isn't a church camp but IF we did shower it was 7-10 minutes depending on everything

We quite literally can not be self conscious. We have half an hour to get ready before breakfast and that may seem like a lot but we there was always and I mean always that one person in the cabin that took 10 minutes to get out of bed. Then we go to the bath house and it takes a good 10 minutes to get everyone’s teeth brushed cuz of the 50 girls from other cabins and 5 sinks at one time thing. We then had 10 minutes to go back to our cabin, put away toothbrushes, get dressed, and clean up the cabin. And we were two teen councilors and around 10 kids in a cramped cabin so even our mornings were really chaotic.

Two minutes at my camp too! Luckily, we wash our hair in the sinks. 😅

Last year there were older girls who were taking like ten mins, and the counsellors were mad and yelling at them, so when it was our cabins turn we went as fast as we could to avoid being yelled at lmao.

Im always really shy at school and stuff because if I mess it up it’ll never go away cuz I’m with them forever. But at the camp i go to, i don’t know anybody, so i flirt and mess with everybody, carefree.

At my school we have to go to “Environmental education” at school which is basically camp. We are REQUIRED to go. They don’t let us wash our hair, plus we have to do school work while there.

i go to camp every year and it really depends. my camp is only 7 days so we don’t have like a “wash day” but they do have a washing machine and dryer in the staff cabins in case their are any emergencies. if you go to longer sessions (like 2 weeks, a month, or the whole summer,) they will probably have places to wash ur clothes

Omg one day at my 2nd year of summer camp I was taking a shower and we have these emergency drills, kinda like a fire drill. And they called one and I had to run out in a towel. 🤦🏼‍♀️

i remember in camp there were no clocks and the counsellors wouldn’t tell us what time it is they just said to live in the moment it doesn’t matter what time it is but one of my bunk mates had a watch and it was a life saver like imagine if u like have to change ur tampon every 8 hours so u don’t get tss but you don’t have a watch so u dont know when to change it💀

My counselor said the reason we got like 3 min showers was because the camp has a water bill so if everyone's taking 15 min showers that's gonna waste hot water and make the water bill go up

I wish my country has camps like summer camps like you do. here we only have boy scouts or girl scouts camps and it sucks af. sometimes we didn't even get to go to forests like they sent us to an army to learn disciplines and train like a soldier would do but we didn't have to train as hard as a soldier. It's not that intense but yeah it's horrible. the rest are just camps that rich kids can afford but we, middle class people, have to save up to join the camp.

tbh it sucks at first but you end up feeling ultimately better because you’re out doing stuff. use tampons if you’re comfortable with it, it’ll make camp overall better and sleep in pads. if you have bad cramps the nurse can usually give you medicine if your parents said it was okay in your forms for the camp. it’s not that bad after a couple days.

Im in Boy Scouts. Yes. I’m a girl. They have a girl troop. It’s been going on for about a year now (I think) but I joined a couple months ago. This summer, in July, we had summer camp. A week of being at a sleep away camp where your toilets are just buckets. Nasty. But it’s ok. Since it’s Boy Scouts there were only like 18 girls and over 100 guys (different Troops) so you kinda had no choice but to make friends with the guys. Especially since girls get annoying (tons. And tons. And tons. Of drama) some of the guys were really nice. Other didnt like the fact that they let girls into Boy Scouts. Some guys asked if we wore makeup. I personally never do and don’t like too so I said no. One of the guys said “oh good cuz on camp outs there’s no time for that” and he was really nice about everything. If I got lost (it was a big campsite) he would help me cuz he gave me his snap. He would tell me to meet up with him at the bathrooms since those were everywhere (they had area numbers on them) so he would walk to the bathroom and help me get back to my campsite. Sad thing was, he was in a troop that’s in North Carolina and I’m in a troop in Virginia. Anyways, besides that guy, the tents! OML I COULDNTTTTT. There was a spider. The size of my hands. YES HANDS WITH AN S. and it was in our tent. The tents weren’t close able. It was pretty much thick fabric over some metal/wooden poles. Nice. I know right. BUT ANYWAYSSS, i keep getting off topic. You really just need to learn to open up to new friendships and just deal with things. Enjoy it while you can.
