This time of year is very special for me, where I try to take as much time as I am able to enjoy what is left of the wildflowers. We get late spring rains this time of year, followed by drought. I have a phobia of fire, so this can be a scary time. But through the years of living here I have realized how little my worrying accomplishes. Nature is the one that is most likely to be hurt in a fire, and yet it is unconcerned with the unknown - instead, it thrives, embracing the season of life. In this video I wish to share some thoughts I use to find calm and peace in uncertain times.

I agree with Lily. $6.25 for most of these items? Add $1-2 per item and you will sell just as many but ramp up profits 50-100%. You are under-estimating why people buy your works. 80% of the reason is YOU, not only your works. Your work is not a commodity because you are unique.

Please get outside yourself , and get exercise and sunlight. Nothing helps depression like those three things-and BREATHTAKING in the fresh air!!! I just recently found, that depression is highly linked to being overweight. Of course, there are many reasons, but if that is you, it’s something you can DO something about. I have been overweight (but not depressed) and recently got cancer and found out that THE NUMBER ONE contributing factor to this type of cancer-AND TWELVE OTHER TYPES OF CANCER- is being overweight. It messes your hormones up, and it is also a MAJOR cause of depression. Again, I don’t know if you are, but I know so many of is Americans are (over half of us!!), so I just recently embarked on a detox diet to lose 50 pounds to beat THIS cancer and not have to worry about the other twelve!!! And, being older, I can see that all this depression that has arisen over the past years has pretty well corresponded to the increase in our weight as a nation. There are many, many other things individuals can do to fight depression. I encourage you to research and try and find things that work for you. Of course, there’s therapy if you need outside help, but so many things we are able to heal ourselves with diet, exercise and outlook. I just wanted to share this with you because I personally was shocked to find out that being overweight was a leading cause of so many cancers, and I also didn’t really know before how connected being overweight and depression were either. I think the medical community has done us a grave disservice by hiding this, and i am trying to get the information out to people. Best wishes!!! &Breathe!

@@letinhsong8024 thank you for your heartfelt response. I am sorry that you have cancer. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am actually a very small, slender person and always have been, but I have heard this about certain types of cancers before. I agree with you, the medical community does not inform us about this enough. I also agree going outside, sunlight, freshair and deep breathing helps. I definitely plan on doing that today, but right now it is raining and we're under a thunderstorm watch so I have to wait until it is safer outside. I am feeling a bit better today though. Take care, and sending my thoughts and prayers to you and your healing journey.

It’s probably others who try and fail to have a KZread channel with the same kind of content. I’ve seen a few who try WAY too hard and it shows. Most likely its from those who have so much hate in their heart that someone so loving and kind like the Cottage Fairy threatens them because they want to stay and live in that hateful space. It’s sad to see but we all have “haters”. We just have to listen to the voices who raise us up, not the ones who try to drag us down.

I am such a pluviophile that living in CA has become very difficult, due to these endless revolving seasons of brutal drought. This video will be so comforting in the dry months to come! Thank you so much, Paola! I find myself lately striving daily to do what you described--live in the moment, not dwelling on fear....or as my Grandma used to tell me, "don't borrow trouble." My cats don't spend their days worrying about what might happen. They are just happy--as long as their food bowl's full, anyway LOL. I sympathize deeply with your fear of wildfires. I was living in Oakland when we had the 1991 Oakland Hills firestorm. I will never forget looking out my upstairs window and seeing an opaque curtain of black smoke rolling across the sky, blotting out the blue completely, and the red towers of flame leaping down the hillsides only a mile or so away. We were evacuated, but my neighborhood was saved overnight by the huge old Victorian cemeteries which stretched along the avenue at the base of the hills and extended well up onto the slopes. Those twin cemeteries (one traditional Catholic and the other multidenominational) had their own reservoirs and sprinkler system, separate from those of the city. So although Oakland's water pressure dipped dangerously low due to the demand from all the fire engines, the sprinklers in the cemeteries were at full, normal capacity. The last thing the caretaker did before he left was turn the whole system on, full blast. The day after the fire was finally out, I went for a walk amongst the graves. There was a paved road which ran along the very top ridge of the Catholic cemetery. On one side the grass was green, the flowers and trees damp and alive; on the other side, everything was burned black. Thirty years ago this October! How the years fly by. Ever since the fire, some part of my consciousness has been obsessed with the Celtic mythological image of the Green and Burning Tree--symbolic of the place where life and death coexist, the connection between the world of reality and the spirit world of magic and the supernatural. There's also a wonderful book by children's author Eleanor Cameron which is actually called that--"The Green and Burning Tree: On The Writing and Enjoyment of Children's Books." I think you would enjoy it. :-)

As someone who was raised on the northeastern coast of Florida, I find this so interesting. That, while people in your area are preparing for the driest months of your year, we're preparing for the wettest, most humid ones. Florida is right at the foot of hurricane alley, and so, I find during these upcoming months, we prepare for a different kind of natural disaster. Yours fire and ours a seemingly endless onslaught of rain. The humidity here makes it feel like your swimming as you draw in a breath, I can only imagine how the dryness must feel for you. Stay safe! I live in southern BC, Canada, so I totally understand being wary of tourists during fire season. Every time I see someone flick a cigarette out of a car window or light a campfire during a ban, it makes me so frustrated that these people don't understand how dangerous one small act can be.

Here in Vancouver, BC we have so much rain, always...if it doesn’t rain for a week, it’s strange and feels too dry, yet, the wild fires every summer around Okanagan valley are awful. Last summer the fires were so bad, we couldn’t go outside. The wind was bringing the smoke from Washington and California. The sun was a dark red ball in the sky.. it’s a disturbing feeling when one can’t open windows in summer. We don’t appreciate air, we take it for granted. Fresh air.. Thank you, dear Paola. Love your life work, and looking forward to frame your cards when they arrive❤️. Be well, dear.

I always love seeing the wildflowers. I am so glad you took us along with you when you foraged for morels. They are so delicious. I come across them in our local farmers markets. Your meal of zucchini ribbons, butter, pasta and morels looked delicious.
