The first version is a Hikikomi-gaeshi.

There is no standardised syllabus for Judo globally, so depending on where you are things will be different, but under current British Judo Association syllabus, Sumi-gaeshi is first required at 1st Kyu.

What’s the difference between this and hikikomi gaeshi?

It is essentially hikikomi-gaeshi - both techniques are quite similar

@@EfficientJudo yeah but at least when you try to throw your opponent you're not butt flopping... even I myself have been losing the takedown scramble and Resorted to a big sacrifice throw before I pulled guard but I've never ever just pulled guard and anybody who does is a freak that's playing around with grappling
