The Ultimate Sin inspired haze of the first album has been turbocharged with bigger hooks, Jan Hammer worthy synths, and forays into Badlands gone doom! But although doom crackles at the edges of Dreamkiller, this is metal forged with the melodrama of the Scorpions, the emotional heft of Foreigner, and Dokken with an extra dose of depression. In the driver’s seat is critically acclaimed producer, engineer and guitarist Arthur Rizk, who polished these 8 metallic gems at Philadelphia’s Redwood Studios. Coming off of recent production credits with Kreator, Soulfly, and Show Me The Body, Rizk needs no introduction. His past work behind the boards with Power Trip, Sacred Reich, Ghostemane and many others have blown minds for over a decade, while SUMERLANDS fulfills his dream of melancholic chug. The band’s alchemy is on full display as bassist Brad Raub (Eternal Champion, Leather) smirks behind his P-Bass while drummer Justion DeTore (Innumerable Forms, Dream Unending) stares you dead in the face, swinging. New vocalist Brendan Radigan (Magic Circle, Stone Dagger) sings of lost souls in a world gone mad in his confident Graham Bonnet meets Ray Gillen wail. Rizk and guitarist John Powers keep their “Strats only” policy intact while wheeling in the full Marshall stacks to douse the record in glorious solos (witness the album closing duel of “Death to Mercy”). Galloping lead single “Dreamkiller” is an uptempo tour de force with an instrumental break to make Brian May blush and that festival worthy chorus. Make no mistake, Dreamkiller is a triumph of traditional heavy metal fuel!

When Autumn is at the door, I find Sumerlands. Awesome songs and dig this a lot. Would love to see more bands bring songs like these, nowadays.

I really loved the debut album and Sumerlands delivered again! Dreamkiller is a great album! Hope we don't have to wait six years again for the third one.

Got recommended this band from a friend. We were listening to their 2016 album and I was like "shit this sounds like the dude singing for Eternal Champion". Turns out it is the other way Every main member but the vocalist are in Eternal Champion. Which is a big plus because I already love what those boys do over there so this is a no brainer another band I can purchase the music for and keep with me and follow.

Vocalist sounds like a mix of Ozzy and Jason Tarpey of Eternal Champion. Really great; better in my opinion than the vocalist on the debut.

Not going to lie, I was kinda disappointed when I first heard this new album when it was released. Sumerlands set the bar extremely high with their debut album. The self titled album is one of the best new albums I had ever listened to. Everything about it was perfect. Dream Killer has really grown on me. Keep on rocking Sumerlands and keep the albums coming.

Are we sure this is relapse records, summerlands are amazing heavy metal, one could be forgiven for thinking this is a label like fronties records or dissonance or metal blade or nuclear blast records!

Sounds good beautiful guitar work and vocals, but not what I liked Sumerlands for. Miss the destructive doom sound Seventh Seal brought to the table. Must have been vocalist swapping issues that delayed the album so much. It's not bad, but I was disappointed to not hear Phil's deeper melancholic voice and that it drifted from their original sound.
