@@HellFireRPGs its something knew and since i live time travel i love it probably my 4th favorite suikoden game (1,2,5 and this)

You seem really pleased with the MC's name... even showed a video of it :D One of the sad things about Suikoden is that after S3 they seemed to give up on expanding the main story, and just do prequels or spinoffs... and as a story guy, seeing more of the future is what I wanted most out of it. But sounds interesting that this one's own story is good... and the 3d graphics are surprisingly good as well!

The all developing team of this game is quit Konami after suikoden 5, so they can't continue story about True Rune anymore. Very sad.

It is only in name sad. I wish there was a true sequel for this great series.

I’m playing it on my Steam Deck right now, this review pretty much nails all the issues I have with the game. It’s not bad but it’s way down there with the DS Suikoden

That's a very fair answer, I can't blame you for that. I request that you do a review of Suikoden 3 sometime in the very near future, and during your play through of the game if you choose to do the level 99 trick, I recommend getting six pieces of food into your inventory very early in the game and letting it rot before you start the grasslands battle. If you use it to poison all of your party members as soon as you get through the battle, it makes killing off your high-level characters way easier.

Is this suikoden can have HQ like other suikoden?

Great review and I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I played it in 2021 and was excited for it after playing Tierkreis and loving it so much, unfortunately tho this might be my least favorite Suikoden game along with S4 The story was moving extremely slowly, they hint something but nothing is actually shown or worth getting excited for until the last few hours and by the time everything is revealed I was really dragging myself through the horrible dungeons and the lacking soundtracks just to see where this is going 😭💔 I didn't even bother collecting the stars... the characters where also not as good, but I liked the MC and Astrid a lot It's unfortunate that I didn't like it in the end, never felt that way about other Suikoden games, even 4 had a bit more charm imo 😓💔 Ended up giving it 3/5 stars just for the story and some little soundtracks, and that beautiful opening and voice acting

I find it funny that you call the game old, it came out pretty close to the same time as Grand theft Auto v.

I felt this game is better than I think before play, but lacking many suikoden's element. Story is good too, I very impressed how true ending resolved.

I'll be real with you I'm enjoying the game Sad it doesn't have army battles but the fact that the OST is still Suikodenish I'm glad the story is good so far While Tierkries talk abouthe future this one is about the Past that leads to the present and I'm all for it (i guess funny enough i don't like the Hero of Tierkreis but i agree with him talking about the future shouldn't be known) what i didn't like is that i can't buy equipment from the my fortress (at least since I'm playing it now for the first time and I've reached the desert in the southwest of the map not yet have shops in my fort) so i assume that i have to go to towns so i can buy stuff and magic is limited not much to discover and it's much more linear than the other Suikoden games but i like how i can teach any skill to anyone who can use the same weapon type i really look forward to have the sub classes

I played this game back before it had a translation, and really enjoyed it. I'll definitely have to go back and revisit it, as there were some things that I thought they did really well. Also - hopefully with the renewed interest in the Suikoden series, and the upcoming remasters, future titles will be remade, and we'll get new ones. I mean, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure had two sequels that never came west, which are finally doing so soon. So, one can hope.

This does sound like a decent game at least. Is it going to be on the Switch?

Very unlikely. Probably won't ever get an official English release.

haha . Wow. I played through the game several months ago and never even knew about gaining new abilities from eating meals. I kept swapping people out when they got to max affinity. Like you said, the game was pretty easy. Paired with a Bard and Shaman, my mages could one-shot bosses with Ruinous Magicite. I beat the final boss without it even getting to attack once. I still liked the game. Pretty solid on its own, but it's not really a Suikoden game.

Yeah, you wouldn't know unless you read up on it somewhere. Totally not worth doing. The only sub class I ever used was buffing abilities with my healer.

@@HellFireRPGs I think sub class is make for people who want to change feeling after finished one round. Example, you can use Hemione with tonfa instead of spear or use Lascaris as mage. But you must have very much free time. Haha

ever tried playing the google translate version? absolutely ridiculously funny dialogue but its a great game with cheats on..btw, ur voice, wtf?

So basically, suikoden back to the future then

So I play this and it ehhh to me, it Suikoden by name only, the story and the characters are pretty weak and forgettable compare to the rest Suikoden series and gameplay is terrible. Tierkeis was a much better even though it a DS game.
