I saw them at the O2 Arena last Friday!!!

This is lovely. As a young teen, I had the incredible good fortune of meeting the whole band in 82. They were delightful, fun and friendly, most particularly Chas (such an extrovert!) and Woody. Madness are criminally underappreciated even now. They've written some of the most joyous, infectious, and musically sophisticated music ever to have come out of Britain.

I am a absolute idol of Madness. The nostalgic feeling every time I hear them takes me right back. They never took themselves seriously, and brought us all nothing but pure happiness and joy. I love Suggs/Madness immensely. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I just came across this by chance on KZread and loved every second of it. I must have missed it when it was shown back in 2000. Suggs and the rest of the band are such likeable characters. I’ve followed Madness since 1979 when I was 15 years old, and I’m pleased to say that I’ve now seen them perform live twice - once in 2012 in Liverpool, and again at the same venue in December 2023. When I was in my teens, I never dreamt that I would actually be watching them perform live in my 60th year. Well done Madness.

Being a 70s and 80s kid I loved madness,still listen to them now,and always will,listening to them conjures up memories of schooldays and all the nostalgia associated with those times,bless Suggs and the band,Britain at its best.

The first time I heard One Step Beyond I fell in love. After 40 years that love continues to grow. Especially after their latest album. Incredible!

Mike Barson Was the Founding Father of Madness his determination put this iconic band together.

@@tomthomas9708 I met them when they toured Australia in the 80's. Everyone was utterly charming and sweet, but Mike had brought his girlfriend with him and didn't want a bar of anyone else. Shame, but as I say, musically brilliant!

Eamonn Quigley Chas Smash was a better vocalist than Suggs.Also Suggs was more Intrested In watching Chelsea than turning up for rehearsals.

So emotional watching this. Suggs looked so humble during it all. The hugs and kisses and love he showed during this was very moving ❤ I grew up with Madness and very happy I did. Fantastic music and lyrics, god bless them ❤

When Aspel appears Suggs is thinking, 'Oh no, fuck me, not me'.

Great songs+ comedy+ modesty+ realism = One of the greats!!

Even his speaking voice is wonderful. Very distinctive

a very talented yet modest man. Loved his music from the moment it came on the tv

Love Suggs and Madness too for given me the happiest moments in my whole life. God bless him.

Seen them in Limerick.

I met Suggs and his daughters backstage at Reading in the late 90s I lifted a crate of Carling from the Radio 1 tent and let him have one. I met him again on Denmark Street in 2010 and he remembered it.

My idol as a young lad, still have all my old madness records and play the too from time to time, best band of the 80's

I loved the 80s it was amazing and everything was great and even better, Madness were in the charts. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Lots of respect for him. Him and the Nutty Boys shaped a major part of my youth back in '79. Also 19 years married back then was awesome.

AS A METAL HEAD I DO LIKE MADNESS FUN, INTELLIGENT AND MEMORABLE SONGS IT MUST BE LOVE AND EMBARRASMENT

UNDERRATED underappreciated was more serious about their music than ANYONE THINKS. THEY JUST LOOKED LIKE THEY DIDNT CARE.

I was so lucky to see MADNESS many times at small shows in the states. Suggsie got off stage at one gig and was skankin we me and my buddies in front of the stage ! If this band didn't make you dance ...NO ONE COULD !

Well deserved I remember watching this about 18 years ago Suggs always comes across is a very down to earth and very knowledgeable sort of bloke full of quick wittedness. The songs of Madness got me through some tough times as a kid in the early 80's and beyond so Long may Madness continue!!

What a privilege to have been able to see Madness when they were still doing the London pub circuit!

Great band I grew up listening to them and to this day I still dance the madness ways 😂

I remember the video 'Baggy Trousers' playing as a young child. Not taking it too seriously then. Who would think that in my late 40's I would be going and seeing them tour? I mean as a teenager I always liked Madness but well there was Wham, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, and ha ha Culture Club! However still brought Madness music and never regret going and seeing these, now a few times. The 17/12/21 being the last time. I am so pleased this band is still all together, still enjoying what they do. The crowds they pull in at their gigs, just shows the respect for 'Madness' to this day.

Suggs and Madness are a UK treasure, They should be knighted for the joy and sometimes a think about it moment that they have bought to millions of UK citizens! A very talented band 👌

Saw Madness at Bridlington Spa Pavilion in 1980 supported by the Belle Stars. First song was the sound of a deafening hooter.....Night Boat to Cairo! Bless you Graham (Suggs), Lee, Carl, Mike, Chris, Mark and Dan 🙏

Why aren't Chas Smyth and Mike Batstow there? I totally idolised Suggs as a kid. I even mimicked his voice and humour until I was about 17, then it was time to be myself.

I recall walking along the canal in Camden Town in the 1980's when Suggs' wife climbed down from a lamp post and followed me imitating my walk. Suggs laughed at her antics, but I just ignored her and she eventually got bored.

I used to really look forward to those madness videos 'whenever they were on TOTPs, all the band never failed to look like they were having a laugh everytime, brilliant, they throughly deserved their success.

One of reasons why I wander around on KZread. I didn't know much about the background of Madness. And now I do. Another guy / band / group that made it from the 'everyday people'. I hope you ALL keep going. Who wants to die old (i don't intend to) and not have had something to say. Well done guys. Thanks for the upload.

i play madness around my town every weekend regularly you cant beat the sound and people love em they are amazing the sound of great britain

Novelty?? No one ever saw them as novelty. Anyone who likes a Madness song or went to see them knows exactly what they are. Funny yes. But then so is Frank Zappa. You wouldn't call him a novelty act! Madness's producers Langer and Winstanley also need credit for taking them seriously very early on. No novelty about those productions!

I know knuffink about pop music but those guys took their limited musicianship a long way. Yes, they were novel, but they were never a mere novelty. Also, as a David Anderson says below (or is above?!), a huge amount of work went into their production. Even the pop videos matched the originality of the band. They well deserved their pop royalty status when the performed 'Our House' on the top of Buck House. That was magic.

I love 'Madness' myself and have done so since first seeing them perform their debut single 'The Prince' on 'Top Of The Pops' way back in 1979. From that day on they swiftly became one of my all time favourite bands, coming out with one timeless classic hit after another. 'Madness' are one of the unsung greats of British pop. Their success is richly deserved.

Madness did a world tour recently, think they are enjoying massive resurrection success. They still sound great. Job for a lifetime, which is strange as usually when you're on 'this is your life' your career is over.

Love all things British... Only or one of the only nation that can and does laugh at themselves and one another freely and with gusto... Born in a British Protectorate, Rhodesia - Southern Rhodesia (Salisbury) 'til 4 years old and we moved to and grew up in Northern Rhodesia (Lusaka)... Halcyon childhood... the best any kid could possibly have... From Elocution lessons at school to playing with our python pet snake 'Joe' and baby vervet monkey, 'Barney... '
