I have to admit I'm completely addicted to Sugess chronos and I'm positive that I'll be adding another to my collection in the very near future you just can't beat the value they offer they always look like you spent way more than you did which for me is extremely satisfying Great to hear that you're doing much better as well I too am doing quite well after the cortisone injections a bit over a week ago and no they don't last more than a few weeks but that's life 👍

I am so tempted by so many of the Sugess chronographs, but I just can't get over that font used on the caseback - circa 1998 Microsoft word art 😅... aside from that what a stunning looking homage 🙌... Enjoyed the video... Happy Christmas chief 🍻

Gorgeous watch, and I'm a sucker for boxed sapphire crystals and the Chronomaster design. I won't mind buying a mechaquartz version if it means a lower price, and a thinner case profile.

Another great commentary and video,John. Although Sugess make great watches,I have never bought one and the misalignment gives me even greater pause. I was trolling through Steeldive this morning and I saw their new Seamaster 300 homage, the SD1957...looks superb, would love to see you do a review on it as I am about to break my promise of no more watches...again. Glad you're feeling better, sir. I like that watch a lot, though I'm trying to reduce my homage purchases. Tough break on the 12-hour subdial, but I don't think it would bother me. It's a completely useless complication and my aging eyes could easily overlook it. If the chrono hands were misaligned, that would be another matter. Keep up the good work!

I am with you there. It doesn't really bother me but I have to be up front and lead by example to the subscribers. It helps them know how to handle such issues :)

This is such a beautiful watch. I love the look of Sugess Chronographs. It’s a shame about the misalignment though. Thanks for showing it to us though! And I agree with other commenters, Sugess Chronographs are more of an occasional wear watch versus a daily.

Great review again John,. Sugess is amazing, its a shame about the qc problems though, when the quality is so good. I wish the sub dials were bigger but i understand they're limited by the movement

Nice and honest review. I have chosen the top time homage with the blue dial, I an not a fan of the second hour hand counter. Even with a 24 h counter that "could" be useful with a date like on a Seiko VK meca-quartz this function bothers me.

I may be swimming against the current here, but I'd like this as an everyday watch. But this Seagull mechanical movement is more something for a collector's piece or an occasional wear. I'd strongly prefer thus to have a mecha quartz movement.

For a daily I completely agree with you. For me this would definitely be for occasional use. I actually had an Alpha Daytona with this movement and wore it for a couple of years twice a week. Mechaquartz isn't as romantic but is necessary for everyday wear. :)

Really? Do they seem fragile or something? That would surprise me but? I really do like the mechaquartz also for a daily especially if I am out in the woods with no cell service to check the time. They are reliable that way

Stunner! I love it on that brown leather strap that had the texture to it. Very nice indeed. A shame about the alignment though. Looks like Sugess QC could do with some improvements. The last Seestern I bought didn't didn't even tick so I've got to replace the movement on that with a new NH35 myself. Thankfully they looked after me with a refund. They probably asked AliExpress for my purchase history and saw I'd bought dozens of pieces and this was my first complaint so they knew it was legit.

Yeah I saw that. Very unusual for Seestern / Sugess. I seem to be a Friday Manufacterd watch receiver as I have had more than a couple of lemons this year! This one is easily sorted. 11.11 sale price, free strap and now a £20 refund. Great deal for a fun watch to wear very occasionally :)

It’s not a bad watch looks wise I just wish they were able to have the sub dials bigger and closer together as they look just a little too small. Picked up the black with white sub dials and am very happy with the watch even though it is a manual, albeit good looking movement. Also the dial is very 2D, could help with a bit more depth perception to really lift it and make it a great everyday watch that looks more expensive than it is

I think this is an amazingly beautiful watch. I know that it's a limitation of the movement, but I do wish it was thinner. I also notice they switched to a San Martin style clasp. I actually preferred their original on the fly clasp to this one because it was a lot shorter. That definitely isn't a deal breaker though. Sorry you ran into problems with yours, but I'm glad you got it sorted out!

I like Sugess. Best bang for the buck in Chinese watches and their customer service is great. They stand behind their watches.

I Just got this same watch unworn from eBay today!, It’s appears to have the same alignment issue on the 12hr sub dial as yours!, But when I only paid £125 from a UK seller I honestly can’t complain for the price😉👍👍👍

For me this is a fun watch that has all the characteristics of a true icon. A. Occasional wear piece that will be a talking point. I would not wear it as a daily.

It might have been better had they left off the twelve hour dial since it adds no information. Of course it would then have been an inexact clomage but there are two eye El Primeros though they are more dressy looking, usually with a one colour dial. All these st19 watches are great deals, there's nothing else comes anywhere near in terms of price. Russian Poljot watches with mechanical calibres were available around £400 not so long ago. I don't think the movements are made now. Was looking for deals on Ali today. Some st19s that have been around a while going for £110-ish. Great value.

I have one of their 38mm 1963s. Interesting you mentioned the stuttering chrono hand, I thought mine was faulty. I do occasionally get issues with it re-centering and twice it's completely stopped the watch.🤷‍♂️ As an occasional piece they're nice things to have.

Unlucky indeed , personally i'd rather see a power reserve indicator than a pointless 12hr sub dial but i guess they "had" to include a 3rd dial for the full Zenith copy vibe . Way i see it is you eventually got it , reviewed it with its flaw so get your dollar back , chances are you'd sell it anyway perhaps with minimal loss . It's nice enough but the case depth/back isn't necessary for that movement imho & sits higher on wrist than need be & i love zenith . Good to see yr back in shape John & all tickity boo 👍

Hi Ted. It's a shame with this one. Really got it as an occasional piece and thought it world be cool to review. Massive Zenith fan but the price is way out of my league! My friend will be able to adjust the hand and I will pay him with the £20 I get back plus give him something he can use to fuel his hobby. We both win. I had an Alpha Daytona with this movement and rocked it for a couple of years. I always regretted selling it so this fills that gap :) A fun piece in my collection.

I had the same alignment issue. Mine only occurs as a result of setting the time moving counterclockwise. Alternately, if I set the time moving clockwise, the extra play or looseness in the movement tightens up and aligns perfectly. Try that and let us know. 😊

I got me the blue version. What I've noticed is that the both watches, yours and mine have the swan neck regulator set far in the minus position. I do not know how fast or slow your watch runs, but mine is few seconds fast. While the swan neck is in the slowest position, I guess we can not make it slower. I have 0 issues with hands alignment, though you got blue strap and I black we can swap them if you want😅. Nice watch, really satisfied. Just had an issue with one bracelet screw, did not want to get out. The other were butter smooth. Hard to beat this kind of a watch for less than 200€(coupons). PS: blue dial is just blue, no sun burst effect, and the white paint is just plane white colo.

If I get it missaligned I'll put it back but if the chrono seconds hand is missaligned than it is a bummer you'll need a new one to set it properly. And good luck finding one, bummer is also a white running seconds hand on a silver subdial, making it hard to read sometimes. Should paint it other color.

John are you aware you can possibly realign that hand yourself? I’ve done it on other models! 1. Try pulling out the crown to the first position then incrementally push the chrono start button to hopefully advance the hand to where it should be. If this fails then try the reset hand to do the same. If it then realigns in either position, simply push the crown back in. If this fails, try pulling out to the second position if it has it? Then try the same steps again.!…😊

It only has one position and it's not the chrono hand, it's thr 12 hour subdial hand that works in conjunction with the main hands. It has been put on at 1 mini marker fast which is 12 mins. An easy fix for someone who works on watches and has a steady hand. My hands are not that steady anymore haha :)

Just got this watch today. Got stung with VAT!! Anyways it looks awesome. How often do you wind it? Ive decided to just give a gentle wind throughout the day. Maybe 2 or 3 turns

Hi there. As I always say. Prices do not include VAT and Import fees. Our wonderful masters need their cut :(...give it about 15 winds and see how long it lasts. Then in future take it from there. It's an occasional piece :)

One of the first watches from Ali that I might be tempted by. The Zenith original is my personal grail and is unlikely to be in my budget anytime soon ! It's a shame they couldn't use an auto movement though 🙁Misalignment is disappointing.

These early watches all had these lugs so it's symptomatic of the era. I grew up with that and like it but it may be an aquired taste. :)

It doesnt look enough like the Zenith to be called a direct clone. Wish the subdials were closer/bigger like the original

I can't trust Chinese makers to service a complicated $300 Canadian funds watch so its above my limit I'll just have to live with my Boderry Titanium Voyager with Nh35. Regards from Canada and Merry Xmas

That subdial at 6 is absolutely ridiculous. What's the purpose of having two hour hands that serve the same purpose? A 24 hour clock would have made more sense at 6. A 12 hour chrono counter would be even better. Also non-hacking.

You are right. It would make sense if you could set the dial at an alternative time zone but you can't. Anyway, it is a great looking watch and the only choice, as far as I know, to have a zenith el primero homage without breaking the bank...

@@GreenHoleSun The Sugess is definitely a nice looking watch. Timex has an "el primero" homage in their waterbury collection but it's a quartz and over priced.
