Sugar Ray Leonard - Best Combinations & Flurries

Спорт

Highlights of the all time great Welterweight champion.
Sugar Ray Leonard - Is an American former professional boxer, motivational speaker, and occasional actor. Often regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, Leonard was part of "The Fabulous Four" a group of boxers who all fought each other throughout the 1980s, consisting of himself, Roberto Durán, Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler. "The Fabulous Four" created a wave of popularity in the lower weight classes that kept boxing relevant in the post-Muhammad Ali era. Leonard was also the first boxer to earn more than $100 million in purses, won world titles in five weight divisions, including a run as the undisputed welterweight champion, and defeated future fellow International Boxing Hall of Fame inductees Hearns, Durán, Hagler, and Wilfred Benítez. Leonard was named "Boxer of the Decade" in the 1980s.

One of the biggest fallacies about prime Leonard was that he was some 'runner'. Dude was a killer. One of the best finishers at his weight class ever. After Ali and before Tyson, Leonard had that window where all of his fights were EVENTS. He was the marquee man. And often delivered.

Sugar ray once threw 59 punches or was it 54 in one flurry. Who cares I guess, but in his prime was called “pound for pound the best fighter ever”. He was not “big” like Ali, or Foreman. He wasn’t the fastest. But he could be smarter, and he used your gloves against you.

why his punches were so powerful for his size? He is standing on his toes leaning forward as much as possible when he is throwing adding that to fully twisting his body with every punch thrown. The fact he is leaning forward on his toes also takes one positive extra he can evade punches rather quick.
