Suffolk Martello Tower virtual tour (Touching the Tide project)

Ever fancied exploring a Martello Tower? Now you can!
Watch this fly-through virtual reality experience of an East Coast Martello Tower, produced by the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) project Touching the Tide.
Martello Towers were built at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, between about 1812 and 1816, and originally there were 29 of them between Clacton and Aldeburgh, together forming an interlocking strategic defence line and deterrent to invasion.
The Virtual Tour shows the Towers in their Napoleonic heyday and the dark days of 1940 when they were pressed into front line military service again.

Artillery men in the field generally carried some sort of carbine musket. Based in a fort they possibly used full sized muskets.
