SUFFERING on the SUFFERN BEAR MOUNTAIN TRAIL a fun rocky hike including PYNGYP Mountain

This was such a fun YET FROSTY trip northbound on the S-B (SUFFERN BEAR MOUNTAIN TRAIL)
This trail is supposed to be a 24 mile "challenging" hike from SUFFERN NY terminating at the Bear Mountain Inn. Not sure where that 24 miles comes from because with some side quests lol it was closer to thirty. Normally 30 miles is not such a big deal. I can walk ten miles in two hours in the Mohonk Preserve.
THIS HIKE IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS
THIS HIKE WAS A MOFO OF never ending ROCK SCRAMBLES and some minor detours.
DO NOT JUDGE THIS HIKE BY MILES, judge it by never ending up and downs and plenty of challenging rock scramblings.
Included in this hike is the STONE MOUNTAIN SHELTER and the bomb diggity WEST MOUNTAIN SHELTER in the Harriman State Park. The views are epic from each shelter. Keep in mind its allllll stone and there are NO PRIVVIES to be found ANYWHERE. No sure where you're supposed to poop, and there was sadly a number of poops on rock ledges. That must get weird during the busy summer season.
YES I was overloaded with GEAR, there was a reason. Oddly the temps sunk into the teens and there was a lot of wind so it all worked out.
Why all the gun fire near suffern or Pomana NY? We don't know but there was a lot of shots fired for much of the night? Random and odd, before you say "fireworks", know your audience- 100% gunfire.
I met a very inspirational young lady solo hiking solo camping at the West Mountain Shelter. Laurie not only travelled to Harriman State Park from VIRGINIA but she has some crazy stories. LAURIE WAS ONCE BITTEN BY A RATTLESNAKE and WAS STRUCK BY LIGHTNING IN THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS. I'm only hoping with those ODDS she wins the POWERBALL!!!!!

Looked like an awesome trip, gotta love the wind! These are the trips that make me laugh when people complain about the rocks here in Pennsylvania.

Harriman is stunning the whole year round but there is something special about the place in winter time when there are no leaves on the trees. SBM trail is no joke! Rocks and elevation galore. But the view from Pyngyp is so beautiful, and the feeling when you finally see the Bear Mountain Inn can't be beat.

I’m in a whirlwind of internet browsing for some time now. I need to get an “Ultra lite-ish ” bag for an upcoming Vermont Long trail adventure. Now I’m a realist, I’m not really going ultra anything But it looks like a great place to cut a quick 5lbs lol. Any advice for a giant ! I’m 6’6” and 340 I’m literally a giant human. I’ve been looking at your packs as well. Just looking for input for larger humans :) JAY (and obviously the creature food sack is going lol )

I’m not sure about the mileage. I will say it was slower moving over some areas where it was basically Rock hopping. Good luck and have fun. There are no privvys and stony ground. There was a lot of human poop
