They've waited until they're in their 50s to write their best music. Close to perfection.

The constant comparisons to Dog Man Star is all just hype. No way any their songs in the last few years are as unique and capture that same lightning in a bottle as their early songs. My Insatiable One, The Power, Animal Nitrate, So Young, New Generation, Wild Ones, or the great touching songwriting in Sci Fi Lullabies or their B sides. They seem to have hit a formula now for what fans expect them to be, going for big overblwon production with every song sounding the same. Their new albums are decent but come across like Brett's middle class, middle age art project.

@@ThemeParkChomp Each to their own, but I rate Night thoughts and The Blue Hour equal with DMS. Wasn't huge fan of Bloodsports. Thing is, they could knock out a Coming up album again, but they're past that stage now. Maturing as musicians. And it's more Brett/Richard and Neil writing these days. I'd love another The Blue Hour

A stunningly beautiful track. Definitely one of my favourites alongside Still Life. It's not often you listen to a track and instantly see a scene play in front of your inner eye. :)

What's the collective term for a group of introverts? I like this song, Brett is correct, this is right up there with their greatest tracks.

Totally agree with you, Brett...One of the bests songs that Suede has ever written.

This song moves a lot with Brett's emotions, is clear on his facial expression. She is very important in Suede's career, for sure!

Here’s a new Suede song title they should use for the next record as a PT.2 “dark side” to “Life is Golden”. I kept thinking Brett was calling “Life is Golden” in this interview, “Lifeless Garden”!

I agree this song is an instant Suede classic! (to Suede official > couldn't you add subtitles (at least in english), it would help a lot the non-fluently english speaking people like me :) )

I think this song is a great track, clearly the best on the album. I bought it after hearing this. I haven't made any real connection with the others on this album. I tend to agree with some of the comments about the over production etc. It feels like they're trying too hard to create a big deep sounding album Fans of early Suede enjoyed the easy going feel of their music.

It's the best sounding track on the album, but it's way too life affirming for me. Brett is romanticizing his procreation hobby. At least that's what I get out of the lyrics. When Brett sings "You're not alone" he is forgetting that before long he and his wife will be dead and then his child will be left alone to die alone. There is no guarantee that the child will find a loving partner and even so that partner may die before they do... alone again. There is simply nothing romantic or precious about having kids. It's a selfish imposition of life without parole followed by the death penalty. I am always shocked when sensitive artists thrust new people into this shit hole, seemingly without concern for their welfare.
