Loved to hear Brett saying they're not mainstream anymore! I never listen to the radio; I choose my own liking, and these days there are many ways to discover new bands, big and small!

Great interview. That's why their music is so excellent, they do care about songs, not sales or success since they already are a legendary band.

One of the best and most sophisticated bands of all times! It's so great to see them making great albums over and over again! I've listened them live twice, first time in Vienna in 2013. and recently at the IN music festival in Zagreb, Croatia, back in 2018! Both times they were amazing! Greetings from Croatia!

Admittedly, I have struggled with Blue Hour but I absolutely enjoy the thoughtfulness with which Brett answers questions. He is absolutely top notch in every interview and the raw honesty with which we addresses loaded questions is exemplary. In my opinion, the most recent Suede song that should have been a hit and would have easily crossed over to the mainstream with the right promotion is "No tomorrow".

Beautifully said about the role of artists, raising questions and not giving answers. Suede has made a great difference, on the world and on my life. I'd go back to the 90s only for them, I wish I were born earlier or had discovered them earlier, it must be incrediable to grow up listening to suede.

Great interview. Towards the end I was distracted by the Be Here Now mug. Anyway, love Suede and especially their work this decade. Been a fan since 96 but they have been phenomenal since 2010 in my eyes with the reissues and new albums.

You were never part of that mainstream media Brett and dont need to be. In '93, a 12yr old me in Singapore heard Animal Nitrate for the 1st time on BBC radio and something clicked. See how far of an audience you have reached though you werent known to the world then? I for 1 am glad you will remain a big but 'secret' band for us to enjoy. Keep making the records that you wanted to make and we will support you. Cos when you do that, you have not created only music, but ART. Dog Man Star was and STILL is amazing but im pretty chuffed you have equalled that with Night Thoughts. Cant wait for The Blue Hour.

Xirsuyx oh but they were. In ‘93, a 12yr old me in England saw them on every magazine cover, heard them on the radio, and even had an elderly English teacher explain the concept of “media hype” by talking about Suede. It didn’t last long, but for probably 12 months they were front and center

@@danielhoskins4690 That's not true. Only alternative music magazines and papers read by indie loving students promoted them, like Vox, NME, Melody Maker, Select etc... I'm not sure Q were interested as they've always been a bit 'dad rock' !

@M Bee, I never bought or read any of those magazines but I was very aware of Suede. I can’t remember exactly but they must have been promoted on television and in newspapers too for me to know about them. I was 12 at the time by the way.

I love Matt's figure, he looks like a big cool-down uncle, silent, clever and sarcastic - a supporting character from Downton Abbey, maybe... And although the few TBH songs I've heard sound much as A New Morning lost tracks, I still support them. One of my favourite bands from the 90s.

For reasons that I don't know, Suede were not in my top 5 list of BritPop bands in the 90s. I didn't take them seriously. At the time I preferred Oasis, Roses, Verve, Smiths, Charlatans. Then, from Bloodsports I started to recognize to Suede something that I didn't get at the time. (It happened more or less the same with Kula Shaker). And now they are BY FAR the band I love the most. Lyrics, melodies, mood...and on top of them: Richard! Oakes is one of my 3 untouchable guitar heroes/models/references (along with Squire and Marr). What he does on What Am I Without You or I Don't Know How To Reach You is ..I can't tell... I mean...Night Thoughts .... Autofiction are HUGE! To me those 2 albums have the same importance in their discography than the first 3 albums. And this is incredible, considering that those albums are the 8th and the 9th! Name me another band/artist able to do that after almost 30 years of career. The only 2 names that I can name are McCartney and Springsteen, the equivalent of dad & mum. Thank you guys for making my life a richer life

I think a lot of us who had been really obsessed with Suede were taken aback by that album when it first came out. I remember, very vividly, sitting with my partner at the time in my car listening to it at 4 in the morning. He looked over at me and whispered, "Did he just say, "Dead-eyed at the drive-by in a car?"" It wasn't so much the music that was the issue. It just seemed like Brett was making this false attempt to appear more positive lyrically, and it didn't work. It just didn't.

I wonder if they see the song "stay together" in the afterwards as a mistake? I mean somehow it was good to dance in your youth and it was fun to ignore the bitter truth because nowadays everything is so serious and fucked up from the politic stuff but maybe we new earlier that this world wouldn't let us go and also a different text like you wanna keep me living under a nuclear sky - this can't be your truth would been better to dance to... but would it had changed something that we wouldn't be here anymore... I don't know. Somehow I still don't know if it's a media joke or the truth. Maybe it's still just to ignore further and further and to tell yourself the media's are assholes and liars that wanna keep your head worried.

I have always been a Suede fan. Wonderful band. But since I became red-pilled/ awake, all art has to take second place. Yes we are living in a "post-truth" era and it gets worse by the day (censorship increases daily). Anyone who has a kid/s needs to go all out now to fight not just to preserve free speech, freedom of expression, humour, but the rule of law and one rule for all. It is all being eroded and we have to fight now to get it all back. On Thu 27 Sept 2018, at the High Courts of Justice, a truth teller (the bravest we have in the UK) will be facing a couple of trumped up charges and today we learned that the government has added a couple more fake charges. The man has not said anything that Sajid Javid (our Home Secretary) and the Quilliam Foundation have not already said. He could go back to prison instead of being compensated for the unlawful and tortuous months he has already spent in prison this year. We now have political prisoners in the UK and hardly anyone knows or cares. All our main stream media are liars and deflectors now. #Free Melanie Shaw, in prison for two years on no charge. She opened her mouth about child abuse in the 80s when big names abused children in care homes. Yes, Brett, now that we are older with responsibilities, we need to take on that murkier side of life so that our children can hopefully live with the freedoms and choices that we once had, and what our forefathers sacrificed to give us. All of our main political parties are rotten, so we need to push them out and find a new way forward.

Great band but unfortunately Night Thoughts was disappointing and what I’ve heard from the Blue Hour is OK at best I hold Suede to a high standard and all I’m hearing is more symphonic rock with painfully slow measures and lyrics. Get back to a good mix of upbeat and slow like y’all did with Bloodsports
