The one thing I would say as being helpful here is when you get to the point where you have all possibilities in each square, to make sure you remove all the little numbers every time you get a big number. If you have a box that only has one option left, leave it as a tiny number until you finish erasing all the little numbers that you were just working on before going to the next big number. Doing it this way, you won't miss any erases that could halt your progress later on and might lead you to having one option left in multiple boxes making it easier to complete.

This tutorial had one tip that will help greatly. That is that 3 numbers in 3 boxes to eliminate same numbers in other boxes in that square.

Hi Robin, thanks for posting a new video. I use all the methods you show here but I look at the puzzle as a whole instead of breaking it up 6 areas. All my puzzles only start with 17 numbers so I always use the small numbers after I laid out a foundation. I still have trouble recognizing patterns and how to use them. Let me know if you have a video on solving very difficult puzzles. Happy Holidays. PS I noticed you started and ended the video with shorts on but were wearing pants for the middle. Keep up the awesome teaching,stay safe and God bless you.

There were powerful restrictions in the grid prior to the placement of all candidates. No 1, on block 9: angled triple in cells that placed the 3 in r9c8, and from there in r7c4 and r8c1. No. 2, in column 2 a combination of 16 and 29 pairs in rows 1+8 and 2+6 respectively. With that, the final solution was easy to achieve. Neat puzzle.

In tutorial #85, you made apologies for your white board still in transit. At time line 1:04 you commented you would do it again when the board arrived, because doing with a board was “a different process”. Reguardless of whether it happens or not, I think you are the best sudoku teacher on the internet. Been in Adelaide, beautiful city.

In tutorial #85, In your introduction you said that you regretted that this puzzle could not be done on a board, but that when the sudoku board arrived, you would do this puzzle again, because doing it on a computer and on paper we’re different. I would be interested in a tutorial were one puzzle was looked at from two view points. ( I remembered your comments only because I repeated #85.)

At 9:35 it's interesting to note that the position of the 7 match with the 8 and 9 forming a triplet. Which fix the 3 in box 9, 8 and 7. And seing that it shows another triplet in box 9. This is the way to avoid to fill all the grid with small numbers.

He coul have made that big three from looking up, not from taking the triplets away. I’m sure there’s a place for what he did and I do not understand it. But those threes were in line above.

Dear Robin, I was shocked to see that there is now a YT channel called TheSudokuGuy. To date, it has only 9 subscribers and about thirty videos, but the output is rather prolific, and it may cause you future problems. It seems very unfair to me that YT should allow the name of a new channel to be so close to that of an existing channel, especially as it is covering much the same theme. For your sake, I hope there is something you can do to resolve the problem. _You_ are the only Sudoku Guy, and this young pretender needs to be dealt with quickly. I like today's grid.
