Hello dear mentor, I have been playing sudoku for a while and enjoy so much! I never searched for tips and tutorials since starting playing but came across your videos and have been learning so much from you plus I admire your patience and personality teaching your subscribers. I watched all your videos all the way to tutorial number 100! I love when you say “what’s the ramifications of that?” and keep saying to myself the same thing while I’m playing. 😂 I noticed you replied to one of the comments that you are taking your time to focus on your family health and I admire that. Good question! when you find a small number in the same row or column which is in diffent blocks. Once you find this then look for the same making a rectangle in another row or column. I suggest you look at the tutorials 63 and 63 .again. You will notice that in one case I dscovered an Xwing using rows and in the other I discovered an X wing using columns. Hope this helps. At 4:08 there is something nice to spot after putting the 2 little 7s in box 2. Because of the 7s in c1 and c9, putting a 7 in C5R2 impose the 7s in box 7 and 9 to be on the same row (R9). Impossible. So 7 in box 2 is in C5R3. Which gives the 3 and then th 6 in box 2, then all the 8s in the grid...

#SudokuGuy What would you suggest for a puzzle that has all 4 of the corner grids completely blank? It is in the middle of a Samuari Sudoku Puzzle. It is the 9x9 grid that connects to the other 4 outside grids....

@@SudokuGuy I'm finding that working with the 9x9 grid in the middle of the main puzzle that has all the corner grids blank it is a little easier to try to fill those empty grids in if I get most of the middle grids figured out.

I get stuck sometimes, usually near the end, where the x,y,z, wings don't work. (Wings have been really helpful.) Can you suggest a trick that might work. It happens fairly often, and I just have to finish by trial and error. I think it has to do with isolating a number that can only have on possibility. (a pair of numbers included on a possible "wing" set, but not associated with the wing.) I hope this makes sense.

Sorry Charles I am a little confused. With the X wing you are looking for a rectangle using usually iwith the corners in 4 blocks. where one number is found only twice in a row or column and in 2 blockes. Hang in there..Sometimes looking at a video again helps

Very good instructions. All of the examples in 62 and 63 look like the numbers are in both the rows and columns at the same time. How do you tell if the x wing is in the row or column?

Question please: Thanks for all you videos Robin ... For me, it spoils a puzzle when I have to revert to a 50:50 choice and then trial and error to see if it works out or not later on the the puzzle... Is it possible to solve all Sudokos without trail and error with 50/50 cells? Or do some puzzles force the trial and error approach?

Good question My tutorial in July soon to be uploaded. I mention this. Look at my tutorial # 21 Danger Danger. I only use this when I am in a hurry and want complete. The logic is " if not this then it MUST be that" providing you have all the correct small numbers. Keeping an eye out for a danger danger is important, however when I see a potential danger danger I always try to solve it anothe way using logic.

I agree with being sparing on the Candidates because they clutter up the space. Generally speaking for me when candidate are in a line within a cell I put all three in but only two if they are not. The line eliminates for the other cells in line with them. I had a collegue who never put any candidates in, phenonimal memory.

Hi James. Yes they either have a great memory or the puzzles is not very diffcult even although the category may be hard or above.

After you get the 3 in the 6th block, pair with the 1, the 4 is obvious in the 9th block, then in the 8th.

Dear Sir,I am from Belgium and this is not my language but i will try to ask you a question.At 35:25 you put the big 1 near the 3.But why can,t the little red 1 in that block not be the big 1 at that moment?

@@SudokuGuy I bought a book with a bunch of large print blank Sudoku Grids. I am watching all the Lessons 1-25 and copying down the puzzles and scenarios and making notes. Then I will go on to the "Tutorials" section an do the same for those as well!

Ok, I didnt see all of the lessons. I tried x wing #1 lesson, no possibilities on the puzzle I'm working. Now I'll look at #2 lesson. I printed the puzzles I'm working on from www.memory-improvement-tips.com/printable-sudoku-puzzles.html. I chose very hard. I did the easy and hard (from another site). These are TOUGH. I'll watch your other lessons. Thanks.

Im literally sitting here crying. I thought i had it, 2nd C & 7th C top row and 8th row 2nd column and 7th. Whoa..... watching you work the puzzle mine was an x wing also I think? If not, I will be diving so deep in x wings as i feel like i am drowning anyway. Autism brain stinks. 😭😣😓😩

HI Kandi sometimes it takes watching a video more than once. There are 2 types of X wings one is using rows and the other is using columns Maybe you have watched tutorial # 63 already. Hang in there ....once you understand the steps you will succeed. it takes practice spotting X wings.

@@SudokuGuy Yes Thank you so much. I did watch 63 also. I do rewind and rewatch the parts my brain won't compute and it does help. I keep a small file box near me and one folder is puzzles to come back to, IE: called "stepped away" and after several months of watching your videos I was able to pull them all out and solved them all except one like it was my job. 😊 so i am definitely learning, just not as fast as I would like. You get what you get and don't throw a fit is my personal motto. 😁

Candidate is defined as a number that does not already exist in the Column, Row or Box. There are 729 formulas like this naming different parameters. The formula considers the influencing cells. The “&’s” concatenate the influencing cell values. The FIND searches the concatenated string for a number, in this case “1”. If “1” is not found then it is a candidate. Writing the formula is tedious. There is a pattern which makes it possible to automate the formula writing…more fun.

Teach a computer to fish and everyone eats a lifetime, even the ones who cannot learn how to fish. You enjoy teaching. Use that skill to teach kids how to teach a computer to solve sudoku faster than the world champion. Previously I described a formula that calculates candidates for one cell. Anyone who understands that formula will have an easy time with the formulas that follow.

I'm sorry but this could easily have been a five-minute video. The rest of the video is a repeat of what you covered 62 times because this is video 63.

I understand what you mean, however i am a teacher and want to help the beginners learning. My self i just look for numbers in a rectangle that fit.

why do you find it necessary to alert people you are going to solve a puzzle at some future date? Why not solve the puzzle and post it….skip what appears to be nonsense.
