I live next to the refinery they died in 1) They were in there for 4 days and on the 3rd day people were still hearing banging on the pipe 2) The diver that got chris out was going back in for the rest but Paria said no 3) Paria got the coast guard to stop the divers because they were not going to leave the men inside 4) There were multiple divers ready and willing to go in from lmcs and resuce that same hour but were all blocked from going in 5) Paria said the coast guard will be doing the rescue but the coast guard said they had no equipment 6) The families of all the divers sat in the refinery carpark for 4 days waiting to hear news about their loved ones and the company couldnt even give them some water to drink it was community members who brought food and water for the families 7) They left those men in there to die and when 4 days had passed and they were sure that they are dead they flushed the bodies out the pipe 8) When they flushed the bodies out they snuck the ambulances out another gate so the families wont see what was going on 9) When questioned in the commision of inquiry it was revealed that no rescue plan was ever made and they simply sat and waitied for the men to die 10) And if that wasnt bad enough they capped off the pipe so noone else could escape. The has been no arrests made and noone has been charged with anything and I believe not a single cent was paid to any family yet. After seeing the bodies of those men covered in Oil and how they suffered for days I feel nothing but rage for those in charge. The managers who are responsible are in bed with the Government and they use the company to do underhand business so they can steal tax money. The Company was originally called Petrotin but the prime minister was found to be involved with a scandal of his friend selling oil to the refinery and collecting money but the oil never came and the PM got a cut out of that money from his friend. To avoid jail they closed the company down and started 5 new companies from it paria being one of them. I fully believe they let those men die because it would be cheaper( cheaper because not a cent was paid to any family member as of yet) to label it an accident than be put in court if they survived. Absolute corruption and its disgusting The word around the block is that the governement is doing Oil deals with venezuela secretly to avoid sanctions as Maduro and The TT prime miniser Rowley are apparently good friends and if these men lived the spotlight would be placed on the company and it would make it much harder to do their underhand business so they were left to die and as it is a Government run company they could get away with it and face no consequences. This video is of a jorunalist who was covering the accident and was there on the ground when it happened Have a look if youre interested : kzread.info/dash/bejne/eIWCrMmMqtWccag.html Edit: fb.watch/mTl3-l18tf/ This is a video taken during the incident in the carpark of the refinery. After a while the second man stopped but Christopher kept going and eventually made it to the end. Christopher proved a rescue was not only possible but very likely to succeed with proper equipment. Christopher actually tried to check himself out of the hospital to go on his own rescue mission but they wouldn’t let him. I don't get it they had professional divers, cutting-edge equipment, and a whole day to prepare, surely they could've tried something? wow man my heart goes out to their families. thank you for making this video EDIT: upon further research, i've learned that 2 separate diving companies offered to send in rescue teams, but the government stopped them. The government literally left them to die, and even capped off the end of the pipe so even if by some miracle they were able to make it up, they would be sealed off and stuck in there. idk if what I read is a valid source but if that's true, this world is fucked

@@ompatel8091 I was also very annoyed and surprised why a rescue attempt wasn't even made, as on prima vista it looks a rather easy thing to do. One guy that looks like an expert on such situations @francishermans758 shared a great comment I will copy here " @francishermans758 5 months ago (edited) @nicanram7445 Unfortunately there was a timeline for the four divers and that time was reached at 20h45 and this for the simple reason that from that time, the rescue of the divers would then have become more and more problematic because there was then no longer a decompression table available for their already 6 h dive time and therefore the risk of generating a severe or even more serious type 2 accident would have been inevitable. It can therefore be said that, even if the rescue dives had been authorized, the chances of success would have been extremely slim to recover more than one living diver. Does this mean that whatever was done that day, these four unfortunate divers had very little chance of making it out alive? The answer is unfortunately NO. What was fatal to the four divers was that as time passed they were increasingly saturated with inert gas (nitrogen) and after 20h45 any rescue attempts would more than likely have been doomed to failure. Yet it would have taken very little for them, too, to more than likely be recovered alive from that pipeline. What should have been done as soon as the only survivor returned? It’s quite simple. They should have immediately looked at the actual depth at which the other divers were confined because that would then have shown that there was going to be a decompression problem very quickly and that to avoid this, it was necessary to reduce the ambient pressure in the pipeline and in the air pockets as quickly as possible. And the only way to do that without completely flooding the line was to lower the water level in riser B6. This operation could easily be done by lowering a submerged pump or even an airlift (at the start of the pumping phase) into the riser via the hyperbaric chamber and then pump out a certain amount of water (+/- 30 m³) so as to lower the water level in the riser until only about 3 m (10 ft.) of water remained in it, which would then have reduced the absolute pressure in the pipeline to (+ /_1.45 + 0.3) = 1.75 bar. Doing so would not only have allowed the divers to already desaturate their tissues from the maximum pressure, but it would also have had the effect of increasing the volume of air in the pipeline. As we can imagine, these rescue dives would not have been the easiest to do and before they could be done a certain number of points should have been adjusted in order to dive safely. I’m not going to detail these points here, but the rescue then was possible and the chance to recover the four guys alive would then have been highly realistic. Fate made it otherwise. RIP dear colleagues."

Yes. Fyzal suggested christopher to stay still cuz it was dangerous, but christopher denied that suggestion. As a result, christopher and kazim swam ahead while 3 workers stayed still and it was truly dangerous cuz the destination the next space to breathe was too far, so they were about to run out of breath. Fortunately, a couple of oxygen tanks were there, so they could breath for longer time to reach the next space. And i'm correct that finding a couple of oxygen tanks was gonna lead them to berth 6 instead of berth 5 cuz a couple of oxygen tanks were sucked into such position, so they had to swim against the flow of water. But, when christopher was swimming, kazim suddenly cried out to christopher cuz he wanted to get out of the pipe immediately. Since kazim was feeling unrest, christopher kept swimming and found the way out to get some help. After christoper's desperate struggle, he finally could escape by being helped by rescuers. But, rescuers did nothing to help the rest of 4 cuz it was dangerous! So, all 4 of them died in the pipe. If kazim ali hadn't been depressed, he would've been alive with christopher. If christopher'd followed fyzal's suggestion to stay still, christopher would've died too cuz no rescuers would rescue them until after 3 days and 6th day to bring dead fyzal who was in the last position

The reason they were not recued is pretty obvious, and if I was high up in a corporation and a heartless exec, I would do the exact same thing. The reason they waited until the 4 other divers were definitely dead before going in to retrieve their bodies, is because they were worth more dead than alive. A lawsuit and medical bills of 1 diver is one thing, but imagine 4 more. At that point, letting them die would save the company the most money. That is what killed them.

They should have been tethered to the surface with safety divers in the water wearing helmets and surface supplied air with communications. The divers, once in the habitat should have been tethered to prevent going into the pipe and have at least spare airs strapped to their legs and regulators to surface supplied air hooked to them. That being said I called the diving company and the coast guard offering my services even if to help create a plan for rescue. Nobody did a fucking thing and left those poor men in there to die.

Make the same airpocket from the beginning and have a team send in cameras with light to inspect along witj oxygen masks or even a hose that expels oxygen to prolong their lifes all meanwhile the team comes up with a plan.... Im no expert but in the beginning the teamade an air pocket to work on the pipe so why couodnt it be reproduced again and have it as a base and send im oxygen hoses or masks through it. Then have a team attached to a propeller to attempt a rescue. I guess not a lot of underwater volunteers to attempt it or idk but it seems the company was quick to declare them dead when there was a survivor. Oil owners are demons.
