Yes, it’s all about drainage, drainage, drainage. Most of the wide variety of succulent and cactus plants in my garden are fully exposed to our winter rains. I have rarely experienced any rot. I plant in raised beds and pots and make a soil mix that retains adequate moisture, while draining well. (I recently posted a video of my newest succulent and cactus garden. You might enjoy it.)

Amazing video, thank you for taking the time to educate us. I just moved from the ACT to Orange and now my succulents are all out in the rain for the past week when on a covered deck in the ACT. I’m checking them daily and desperately hoping they will be okay. I have a few hundred and am a bit stressed about them dying but watching your videos gives me hope and calms me. Thank you for all you do for us. God bless you Liz.

Orange is a much better place to grow succulents than Canberra....if not...PERFECT! Just ease them out slowly and a cloudy day is the right time to slowly put them out to acclimatize and leave and forget. Good luck and have fun. Let me know how they go.

I used to be a slave to my succulents moving them from the porch to front yard 2x everyday. They commute to sunshine and return under the roof as soon as the sun goes down and never touched a drop of falling rain. After watching your videos I amended my soil and let them stay out and my succulents now look so pretty and juicy and I'm a happy succulent mom. Thank you ❤️

Hallo from Germany. I love your Videos. Since I am watching them....I get more and more Echeverias, 😁wounder why😂😂😂 I always had Sempervivum in the garten. I can say they do not care for - 29C...frost.... Some people put them still on little garden house roofs. in the old time they thought sempervivum (Dachwurz) protect the house from lightning strike😊 thanks for your video

I believe that the basis for growing healthy succulents is in the soil mix. If you get the soil mix right to suit the area you're in, the succulents basically look after themselves. For humid places, I recommend using my Tropical Soil mix or similar soil mixture. Link below the video in the description box. Thanks for watching.

After that, they can pretty much look after themselves and just maintenance(checking for bugs and removing dry leaves) and watering when they need it and that's basically it.
